762 | New covnant w/ Isrl or proph on Christ? | Jer 31:22 | azurelaw | 196814
Dear Val and Cheri, I am sorry and I should have presented my question better. Let me try if I can put it in a more structural way for better understanding. The commentaries I've read mainly favour the view that it speaks about virgin Mary's conceiving Christ. I have the problem here in understanding "a woman" and "compass". Mary is a virgin not a woman unless it also bears the meaning as in the AMP version "a female". "compass" my Chinese bible translated it as protect - this is also one of the meanings in the AMP version. How can Mary protect Jesus Christ? Other commentaries addressed the idea as the Jewish church seeking after God and returned to Him (a mighty man). Or the church under NT embracing Christ. I feel these explanation follow the context of the chapter, but cannot explain "has created", "a new thing" and "compass". I find it difficult for me to express it well. Hope you understand what my questions are. Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

764 | Knowledge of why they are in torment? | Luke | azurelaw | 196528
Dear Brother CDBJ, This is an interesting question. Let me try if my answer helps. I believe the unbelieve do not know the reason of their torment until the judgment day. Scripture support is Matthew 25:44 when Jesus talked about the judgment between the goat and sheep. Shalom Azure |

765 | unpardonable sin in Ex 20:7? | Ex 20:7 | azurelaw | 196421
Dear Brother Doc, Thank you very much for the answer. Yesterday (Sunday) was a very busy day and a great day for our synagogue as we have to attend the pastoral ordination ceremony for our teacher in the afternoon right after our Sunday service. Now I have the time to re-read your answer and have a better understanding in concern with Exo 20:7. God bless and Shalom Azure |

766 | AMm I UnTeachable? | James 1:19 | azurelaw | 196350
Dear Pedro, I agree with you that if the church does not teach sound biblical doctrine, we should leave without turning back. Thank you again for the explanation and the scriptures quoted. Before I would forget, welcome to the forum. Which country are you from? It would be good to let us know you better if you could fill in your user profile as I did. Hope you enjoy the forum and share with us. Shalom Azure |

Dear Pedro, Thank you very much for your reply. Sorry that I did not make myself clear. Could you please elaborate more with biblical reference as to the below statement you made earlier in your post? ...if anyone makes you feel like the way you are feeling maybe it's time to find a new church home where they treat you better. Thanks again for sharing. Shalom Azure |

769 | Are there any scriptures in the New Test | Acts 11:9 | azurelaw | 196263
Yes, Chinese say: even the Buddhists (I guess only the Chinese Buddhists) cannot resist the tempting flavour. :-) Shalom Azure Eph 2:3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. |

770 | Are there any scriptures in the New Test | Acts 11:9 | azurelaw | 196255
Dear Brother John, Yes, we must be reasonable. You know, we (Chinese) almost eat anything. I remember when I was a little child, a close relative was very fond of eating dogs and cats which I felt horrible. He tried to reason his such behaviour with a Chinese saying "those with the back facing the sky are edible". I could not help to talk him back asking "Then do you eat people who are hunchbacked?" (that's what I could do at that age) - silence was the answer I received. Shalom Azure |

771 | Fellowship with God or man? | Acts 2:42 | azurelaw | 196218
Dear Mrs. Dean, Welcome to the forum. I join with brother John to encourage you that you will be under the perfect care of our Lord. Who knows what is the best for us, but Jesus. It is extremely important to engage in a church with biblical sound doctrines and to have fellowship with God for apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:1-5). A true church of God is also a church of love for this is the command of Jesus to love one another. So, please no haste. Pray, seek and ask, God will give according to His appointed time, means and will for His glory and for your (and your husband's) good. I will pray for God's strength and comfort in your (and your husband) time of difficulties. Shalom Azure |

774 | Why did God put us on earth with satin? | Genesis | azurelaw | 196036
Dear TC, Thank you very much for responding. I like the facial sign you made. It's cute and creative. Concerning what you say about the principalities of Satan still trying to beat us up ..., can you explain what do you mean by those principalities? What are the scriptural reference to it? Thank you for your sharing. Shalom Azure |

776 | Why God killed boys for teasing Elisha | 2 Kings | azurelaw | 195972
Dear Val, Excuse me for buting in. I believe brother Doc will have a better answer. However, may I humbly offer my understanding as to Joash's crying over Elisha fatal illness. I believe Joash had been made known by his forefathers about Elisha in connection with the heavenly chariots and horsemen (2 King 6:17 when the King of Aram warred against Israel and God brought victory to Israel with His chariots and horsemen). Thus Joash regarded Elisha as the protection of Israel (v 5). This also shows that Joash relied on man not God. Both he and his father Jehoahaz did evil in the sight of the LORD (2 Kin 13:2, 13), but Jehoahaz at least did seek God's protection directly (v 4) while there was no mention about Joash of the same attitude. It is also interesting to see Joash cried out the same as what Elisha did when Elijah was taken away from him by God. (2 King 2:12). Just my 2 cents worth. Shalom Azure |

Dear Sister Val, I join with Brother John for a belate welcome. In fact, I have been reading your posts since you join and I am so grateful to see your love to our Lord expressed in your written words. I really love what you stated : My good friends might tell me what the letter says, but I have to see it firsthand for myself. Keep breaking bread and share with us. We love you, dear sister. Shalom Azure Psalm 133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron's beard, It is like the dew of Hermon Coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing--life forever. |
