I believe SBF is designed for such purpose of helping believers' learning through constructive discussion biblically based. In concern with the identity, it is not an issue of anyone who places much emphasis on details, it is about the terms of use listed by our host the Lockman and we, as forum users, should comply. 472 | is masterbation bad | 1 Thess 4:3 | azurelaw | 208543
Dear Roots, 1 Cor 7:9 The question you answered was in 2005 and the poster is no longer active after posting 3 questions on that same day. However, I would like to give some feedback to your note that it might not be practical for a person who is still waiting for the right mate but is burning with physical desire. I think the below hints provided by John MacArthur are helpful to a bachelor christian who is facing such a difficulty: Number one would be channel your energy through physical work and spiritual service. Redirect yourself to good physical work and spiritual service. This gives your energy an outlet. Secondly, don't seek to be married, seek to love and let marriage come as a response. People who are always wanting to get married will marry the wrong person more often than not. But people who are seeking to find the fulfillment of love will marry the person they've fallen in love with. Don't seek to get married... Seek to be loved and to love, not to be married. Don't worry; marriage will take care of itself. Thirdly, let go of a sex-mad adulterous world. And what I mean by that is watch what you absorb of the system. Fourthly, program your mind with divine realities ... program your mind. It's amazing, but your behavior is a direct result of the programming of your mind with divine truth. Fifth, recognize that for now God has chosen for you to live without sex and recognize this, there's no temptation that has taken you but such is as common to man, God is faithful, will not allow you to be tempted...what? ... above that you're able but will with the temptation make ... what?...a way of escape that you may be able to bear it. Sixth, avoid potentially dangerous situations. That's like Joseph, he just ran. Seventh, thank and praise God for the state you're in and be content. You have to approach it from these standpoints. "How could God command you to marry and not provide a partner? But, listen to me, people, if you're not the right person, you'll never meet the right partner. That's the whole key. If you're not the right person, you'll never meet the right partner. So instead of looking for the right girl, start being the right man. And, girls, instead of looking for the right man, start being the right woman...and then the right man will recognize the right woman." Shalom Azure |

473 | Sanctification by a spouse? | 1 Cor 7:14 | azurelaw | 208537
Dear D.W., Not to distract from others' reply, I would like to provide you the below for your further study: "......it isn't saying an unbelieving wife is saved automatically just because she's married to a Christian husband. Well, what does the word sanctified mean? Well, this is what we call matrimonial sanctification. And what do you mean by that? Well, that's just a term to distinguish it from spiritual and personal sanctification. You become set apart unto God and holy when you believe in Christ...but just having been in a home or living in a home where somebody is a Christian, has a sanctifying influence. Paul doesn't mean that the unbeliever is automatically made a Christian by marriage but what he does mean is that the marriage is benefited and that everybody in the house reaps the benefits." --- John MacArthur http://www.gty.org/Resources/transcripts/1829 |

474 | What do we need to know about God | John 17:3 | azurelaw | 208490
Dear Jeff, "Christ was not telling the man how to get to Heaven. He was clearly showing the man the condition of his own heart. He was self-righteous and not willing to part from his earthly riches. Even if Heaven were available to him for a price (which it was and is not), the man was not willing to pay it." Excellent point. Thank you. You have explained much much better than I did. Shalom Azure |

475 | What do we need to know about God | John 17:3 | azurelaw | 208486
Dear Jamison, Please note the scriptures you cited DO NOT say you will inherit ETERNAL LIFE by doing such and such. They say: "...you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." (Luke 18:22) "...and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." (Mark 20:21) "...and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." (Mat 19:21) The context of the scripture is that Jesus was refuting the mindset of the young man who asked "...what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?". He hoped to obtain eternal life or salvation through good work, which in contrast to the doctrines of Grace and salvation through faith alone. Observe that Jesus told him to "follow me". Did the 12 apostles sell what they have before they follow Christ? No. They just follow Him determinedly. Read Roman 10:9-10. Shalom Azure |

477 | What is the meaqning of 'sealing?' | John 6:27 | azurelaw | 208360
Dear peacebestill, Welcome to the forum and it is nice to know that you finally participate the forum through posting instead of acting as a reader :-) In your 1st paragraph I cited below: "I think the nature of seals is that God puts the Holy Spirit into the equation, like when Jesus received the Holy Spirit in the Jordan River, and then we see Jesus having been given the power to do His whole ministry." I am not sure if I understand you correctly. Are you saying that Jesus only got the power for His ministry after He recieved the Holy Spirit as if it is something Jesus does not have or has never have before. Isn't it in contradiction to the doctrine of Trinity? What I understand from the passage about Jesus' being baptized is to express that both the Holy Spirit and God the Father Himself bear the witness for Christ as the Son of God, the Messiah. Thank you in advance for your further elaboration. Shalom Azure |

479 | The Hidden Pride | Ps 26:2 | azurelaw | 208287
Repost with correction. "It is a horrible thing to be lukewarm in our faith; zeal is an excellent thing. Yet, more than all other Christian virtues, it is zeal that needs to be strictly watched and examined. Sin, and particularly the sin of PRIDE, so easily become mixed with it." --- Jonathan Edwards |
