441 | Can we live life without sinning? | Rom 6:12 | azurelaw | 209568
Dear Looking, I have to admit that I have not read much about Finney's work. It seems to me that you have read a lot of his accordingly. So, maybe you can tell me if you find his teaching appear heretic in the following 2 areas as proposed by Orthodoxy according to Brad's post 209542? "He rejected the doctrine of justification by faith as well as denying original sin. These are foundational- essentials- of Orthodoxy" Shalom Azure |

442 | how can we minister to homosexuals | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 209517
May I jam in here brother Jeff and Doc? The original question is: "how can we minister to homosexuals rather than tellin them they are going to hell or avoidin the issue i hop im clear ." The question doesn't state if the homosexuals are professed to be converted christian or homo unbelievers. If both of you understand the question differently, then your argument will be rooted differently. What I see from the discussion, it seems to me that: Jeff interprets the question as "ministering to the unbelieving homosexuals." Thus I think his point of not judging the enternal condition is sound based. Of course we can discern and be sure that according to their (the unbelieving homo) current/present status, they should have no place in the Kingdom of God. Doc could have interpret the question as "minister to the so-call to be professed believers who are still engaged in homo". Their status is not an evidence of their repentance in concern with the saving faith. Therefore, we can tell they ARE/WERE not saved. This is sound as a true believer is a new creation. All in all, be they unbelieving homo or professed believers of homo, I think we must tell them what their end result will be without repenting (i.e. the wrath of God) based on their current/present situation. (Ezek 3:17-18) Do I understand you both correctly or just rambling aournd? Hope my little input does not complicate the matter. Shalom Azure |

445 | God Punished New Orleans with Katrina | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 209412
Dear Jack, With reference to the source cited, I urge you to stay away from the teaching of Kim Clement, a false prophet. He has been reported as a kind of fortune teller putting on the cloak of Christianity. In both OT (Deut 18:20-22) and NT (Mat 7:15, 24:11, 24:24, 2 Peter 2:1, 1 John 4:1, Jude 1:10-13) it has been warning us about false prophets. Read Deut 18:20-22 which talks about the strict identification and judgment on false prophet - put to death. All prophecies must be inline with scriptures. Just google on the web, you will easily find a number of comments and concern on the teaching of this notorious false prophet Kim. Please avail yourself with sound biblical teachings and always compare what you have been taught according to scripture based on the context not on a single verse or two. 2 Tim 3:16-17 2 Tim 2:15 Should you need any help in your study of the Holy Word, please ask and we will be glad to be of help. Shalom Azure |

450 | Should Women Wear Hats? | 1 Cor 11:4 | azurelaw | 209218
Dear pooterputter, Opinion bears value when it is in accord with God's Word. I think the Bereans are good examples for us to follow in the course of how to deal with teachings we received. Acts 17:10 The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. Acts 17:11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Dear John, Yes, as you said in a ROUNDABOUT way :-) When I made my answer, I only considered cases with the DIRECT intervention from God. Therefore, I left out Isaac and Rebekah. Of course, we all understand that God is at all sovereign. Matthew 10:29-30 Shalom Azure |

454 | Jesus and the ruling Powers | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 209148
Dear ladams, Let me see if I can help a bit. I think in order to understand about the nature of the Kingdom of God, we should study who belong to it by studying Jesus's teachings. Those who (are): - poor in the spirit (Mat 5:3) - persecuted for the sake of righteousness (Mat 5:10) - teach and keep the commandments (Mat 5:19) - do the will of God (Mat 7:21) - humble themselves as children (Mat 18:4) - fruitful believers (Mat 21:43) - prudent believers (Mat 25:1-13) - faithful believers (Mat 25:14-30) - loving believers (Mat 25:31-46) Now, I leave the rest for your own search in concern with what Jesus said about the scribes and Pharisees whom to be compared with the above. Just my 2 cents. Shalom Azure |

458 | Is "Paradise" the same as heaven? | Luke 23:43 | azurelaw | 208981
Dear pooter, Please note the below citation of past discussions in conern with Keith Moore and his affiliates whom you should take heed for yourself and others as well. Post #170230 by BradK "...When you get to the site, click on the blue tab bar "Moore Life Ministries" or "Family Life Church". The 3 biggest things I noticed were: 1. Absolutely NO Doctrinal Statement to be found or linked at all!. How can one gauge the soundness of any ministry without this vital info? I don't know; 2. The most prominent info displayed was a advertisment for a job position as an Airplane Mechanic- and you could click on a tab for more details?!?! 3. There were SEVERAL links for donations to Keith Moore and Family Life Church. This site struck me as petty WOF nonsense and has nothing to do with sound Bible study or serious sermons! Just my two cents worth, but I was UNIMPRESSED!" --- Brad Post #170232 by Hank "...I surveyed the situation by taking a long Google-guided look at Keith Moore, his ministry and his mentors -- people such as Copeland, Dollar, and Hagin: Word of Faith promoters all. On the Keith Moore site, a cursory glance at the "Praise Reports" suggests strongly the kind of 'name-it-and-claim-it' mentality that his followers have bought into. I would call Keith Moore's teaching no more orthodox than that of any other of the false teachers who subscribe to the heretical Word of Faith Movement. --Hank Shalom Azure |

460 | Why was the thorn given | 2 Cor 12:7 | azurelaw | 208859
Dear dispen4ever, I found the below post (134947) provided by our old timer Kalos is helpful for understanding the thron given to Paul. ***** 'because of the abundance of the revelations. Therefore, that I might not become too elated, [3]a thorn in the flesh was given to me, an angel (messenger, Greek: angelos, Strong's #32) of Satan, to beat me, to keep me from being too elated.' 2 Cor 12:7 (New American Bible) (http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/bible/2corinthians/2corinthians12.htm) Footnote 3. '[7] That I might not become too elated: God assures that there is a negative component to his experience, so that he cannot lose proper perspective; cf 2 Cor 1:9; 4:7-11. 'A thorn in the flesh: variously interpreted as a sickness or physical disability, a temptation, or a handicap connected with his apostolic activity. But since Hebrew "thorn in the flesh," like English "thorn in my side," refers to persons (cf Numbers 33:55; Ezekiel 28:24), Paul may be referring to some especially persistent and obnoxious opponent. The language of 2 Cor 12:7-8 permits this interpretation. 'If this is correct, the frequent appearance of singular pronouns in depicting the opposition may not be merely a stylistic variation; the singular may be provoked and accompanied by the image of one individual in whom criticism of Paul's preaching, way of life, and apostolic consciousness is concentrated, and who embodies all the qualities Paul attributes to the group. 'An angel of Satan: a personal messenger from Satan; cf the satanic language already applied to the opponents in 2 Cor 11:3, 13-15, 20.' ***** Shalom Azure |
