Scripture ... Job 9:9, 38:31; Amos 5:8 ... ashestobeauty, I think we can learn from the stars. God did put the stars in place. But, some go overboard in their teaching. I think they studied the stars and God told them. They were obedient to Him as they left. I heard His gifts were used by His parents, maybe even to finance the trip to Egypt. S |

505 | Is Limited Atonement a "scandalous" Doc | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 34874
John Reformed, Are you saying that atonment is limited to only those who are saved ... and they are fully atoned? Then, I agree. Searcher

Jesusman, another point is that if you were adopted in the real world, you became a son and never could be unadopted ... while a son born to the house could lose his sonship. S

510 | Praying in the spirit, speaking in tongu | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 51782
Or you can read 1 Cor 14:14 and the context. Praying in the spirit in mindless ... that is what the Bible says. The context says it is a minor gift ... that all do not have it (1 Cor 12 -14).

Scripture ... 1 Cor 11:23-26, 27-32 ... Steve ... I do not see "Communion is viewed as the defining moment of intimate fellowship between believers" ... but between a believer and the Lord (1 Cor 11:23-26). I do not focus on those around me (27-32). 512 | Entering Heaven | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 71209
Scripture ... Acts 2:38, 10:44-48 ... Christian tim, greetings. In "the whole book of Acts in every instance of salvation or conversion baptism took place before conversion" is not correct ... read 10:44-48. They were saved, then baptized by water. In Acts 2:38, the Greek tenses also show that baptism is after conversion. PS We have proven baptismal regeneration wrong every time. |

513 | Entering Heaven | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 71210
Scripture ... John 3:5-8, Mark 16:16 ... rferg, greetings. In John 3:5 "water" is not referring to the not-yet-existent ritual of Christian baptism. The entire passage is the activity of the Holy Spirit in contrast to the flesh, it would be strange to shift to the ritual. In verse 8, "born of the Spirit" (no mention of water this time) is likened to the wind blowing. Is being born of the Spirit and being born by the wind are not two different things? Then why think being "born of water" and being "born of the Spirit" are different? In Mark 16:16 it does not say if we believe and are not baptized that we are condemned. It says if we do not believe we are condemned. Also, it does not say if you are baptized that you are saved. Mark and others presumed that all believers would be baptized. DO NOT read more into the text. Read my response to Christian tim. Searcher |

516 | Identifying the born again moment | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 77843
Scripture ... Act 10:44-48, 1 Cor 2:14, 12:3-11, 27-30), 14:1-5 ... Cornelius and Company were saved before they were baptized in water (Act 10:44-48). The gift of tongues is given to the believer (1 Cor 12:3-11 (vs 10), 27-30 (vv 28, 30), 14:1-5). They were praising God, which unbelievers can't do (1 Cor 2:14). Your passages have been proven that you have error in your thought. Do you want more Scriptures? |

517 | Identifying the born again moment | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 77869
You say "the gift of tongues was given to a donkey" ... but, where in the NT? The gifts of the Spirit weren't given until after Penecost. My point is since Cornelius and Company were praising God, they were believers. According to you -- no one at the firum does, either. Where does the Bible say that unbelievers praise God? Yes, God heard his prayers (that someone be sent, so he could hear to Gospel ...) and saw his alms be given. But is that praise? Disciplerami, you claim that I have been proven wrong ... without any evidence ... that I cannot refute. |

518 | Cornelius - Saved in Acts 10:45 or not? | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 78123
Disciplerami ... There are many unsaved people who do good works. Cornelius is an example in the Bible. I believe his prayer was to have someone to be sent to preach the Gospel, so he could hear. God granted that prayer request. Cornelius may have known his alms giving fell short and needed to be saved. All works, or anything, before salvation is rubbish (Php 3:2-11). Searcher |
