3121 | Holy Spirit and the nature of God? | Heb 1:2 | Searcher56 | 8054
Hiram, the capitialization is used to indicate it is a quote from the Old Testamant. Heb. 2:6b-8a is found in Psa. 8:4-6. The NASB should say that is what they are doing. Other translations, like the NIV, will indent the quotes. It may not be an exact quote from passage to passage - but the thought is there. The "Immaculate Conception" according to the Catholics is speaking of Mary, I think. But, you are right. In fact the Holy Spirit came upon her and she got pregnant. I may never understand how - I just accept it. Note that it was her seed that He came (Gen 3:15). Everyone else was born by man's seed. To answer, "is a correct view of the makeup of the Godhead (in heaven at this present time) necessary for salvation"? Not exactly, so I am retracting part of what I said. We do need to know - 1. Heaven is a free fift that we cannot earn. 2. We are all sinners and cannot get there ourselves. 3. God loves us, yet if we do not accept His gift, we will die apart from Him. 4. Jesus is both |

3123 | Truthseekeer - Angels accepted worship? | Heb 1:6 | Searcher56 | 75237
Joshua worshipped Christ (Jos 5:13-14). Gen 18:2 is about worshiping God. Angels refused worship (Rev 19:10, 22:9). Gen 23:7 is about men, not angels. |

3124 | Did Jesus Need to Become Perfect? | Heb 2:10 | Searcher56 | 11430
Kat, Nolan did well answering. My point was that we need to be careful reading the Word. It says "to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings." We know that the passage is talking about Christ. But, one could misunderstand that He needed to be perfected. Steve |

3127 | Please explain "double edged sword" | Heb 4:12 | Searcher56 | 9612
PK1776, Hank and Nolan did well. We also see this a part of the description of Jesus (Rev 1:16, 2:12). When He speaks, He is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Several times we read that He knew what people were thinking. Mark 2:6-9 is one passage. Others may not know what we think, but He does and the Word of God is His speaking to us - we are without excuse ... before or after salvation. Steve |

3128 | Could Jesus sin? Explain. | Heb 4:15 | Searcher56 | 14528
Bill Mc, The bottom line is that HE DID NOT SIN. I think He could of sinned. Because He was tempted. He had a choice to sin or not. He chose the latter. Otherwise, how could He sympathize with our weaknesses? Steve

3132 | WHO is Hebrews 6:4-11 refering to? | Heb 6:4 | Searcher56 | 144384
Hank The first two posts are Calvinism/Arminianism Emmaus posted Apostate Christians. DocT posted I would differ with Emmaus on this interpretation. Instead, these persons are probably baptized (per the use of the word "inluminati" for baptism by church fathers like Justin Martyr and Clemens Alexandrinus) yet unsaved. Perhaps they are similar to those Paul speaks of in Romans 9:32, they have sought salvation through works, rather than faith. Or perhaps they are those whose faith is through the wisdom of man, and not of God (1 Cor 2:5). They can probably articulate the gospel and the benefits of salvation. However, they are not redeemed. Sometimes people reform their lives when they hear the gospel, but they do not respond in saving faith. Plus there are others that use the very terms |

3133 | God and His Mercy | Heb 6:4 | Searcher56 | 173287
Be careful, be very careful, to check what I, or anyone says ... check it against Scripture (Act 17:11). Slowly digest the Bible, first ... even before asking/ reading others. We can slant your views. Also, as you grow - don't be afraid to change what you believe, because of what the Bible says. I have changed many ideas, even in my 50th year as a Christian.

3135 | Heb6:4-6 Loosing salvation or what? | Heb 6:4 | Searcher56 | 207658
God's day to you, Tim, Doc and others, I too mix what Arminius and Calvin said. I have shifted from being more Calvinist to near the middle. On eternal security I believe if one is truly saved, he has eternal security. Only the person and God know if they are truly saved. There are some who think they are truly saved, based on what they are taught, in error. Searcher |

3139 | What is interpretation of Hebrews 6:4-6 | Heb 6:9 | Searcher56 | 221760
God's day to you, fundamentals, Hebrews 6:4-6 has been discussed and debated many times at the SBF, as well as for centuries by many. It has caused divisions, as well as the topic of eternal security. If you read the posts of this thread, is there anything that hasn't already been posted at the SBF? To all ... I don't think it is worth the time rehashing this. Searcher |
