... Was it a sacrifice to give up rubbish (Phi 3:8) to gain something better? Would you call it a sacrifice if you gave up your paper ring, for one made of gold? You may think you paper ring is worth something, until you know the value of gold. Paul din't make any sacrifice. ...
2922 | What is "this attitude?" | Phil 3:15 | Searcher56 | 93272
Scripture ... Philippians 3:5-6 ... mommapbs, I see Paul counting his heritage, homeletics, being a heroship and holiness ... (I enjoy iliteration) as rubbish and willing to suffer the claim that would get him into good standing with God. Some Philippians and people today claim one or more of these as the reason God should let them into heaven. Christ is the only gain, that is calling on Him to be saved. Then we press on toward the mark. All my past outside and apart from Christ hinders me and I need to trash it. Searcher |

Scripture ... Gen 18:18, 24:1; Job 1:20-22; Psa 112:9 (2 Cor 9:9); Pro 28:20; Matt 19:21; Mark 10:21; Luke 12:33, 18:22; 2 Cor 12:1-10; Phi 4:11-13; 1 Tim 6:3-10; Jam 2:5; Heb 13:5-6; Rev 2:9, 3:17 ... God’s day to you, BARBAQUED, Do you understand the content of 3 John 1:2? "Wealth and Health" is not promised, as some contend ... look at Job and his attitude when he lost it all (Job 1:20-22). What made Paul content (2 Cor 12:1-10, Phi 4:11-13)? Then, he read 1 Timothy 6:3-10. I start in verse 3, as a warning to the liars. Hebrews 13:5-6 also has a point to remember ... BE CONTENT with what you have. Compare the churches of Smyrna (Rev 2:9) with Laodecia (Rev 3:17) ... who was rich? James 2:5 says, "Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?" Read the following in Matthew 19:21 "Jesus answered, 'If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.' (xref Mark 10:21; Luke 12:33, 18:22) Proverbs 28:20 says "A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished." Was our Lord ever rich as an adult? In closing ... Psalm 112:9 says, "He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be lifted high in honor" (xref 2 Cor 9:9). Read the whole Psalm and 2 Corintians 9:6-15. So what are you going to do with what you have? Read what two more qualified people wrote: John F. MacArthur, Jr., Does God Promise Health and Wealth? http://www.biblebb.com/files/MAC/CHAOS12.HTM Randy Alcorn, Is the Health and Wealth Gospel Biblical? http://www.epm.org/articles/qa-health_wealth_gospel.html |

BARBAQUED, God's day to you, Doc is correct on your "When two or more are gathered in my name I am there” quote. It is church discipline (judgment). I have expanded it. Scripture ... Matt 7:1-6, 15-20, 18:15-20; 1 Cor 5:1-5 ... BARBAQUED, God's day to you, You also have taken "Judge not least ye be judged" OUT OF CONTEXT. I presume it is because you have been mistaught. The immediate context continues until verse 6, where we need to determine who the dogs and hogs are. Verse 5 gives a clue who He was talking about hypocrite. Then in verse 15 we are to watch for false prophets. They are wolves in sheep's clothing. I say that takes judging ... and we better to it soon. There was an occasion that a church refused to judged ... are were judged by Paul (1 Cor 5:1-5). Also, in Matthew 18:17 (context vv 15-20)says, "If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector." Do you know the relationship between a speck and log? We not not to be hypocrtical judges. It is the context of the passage you cited. Otherwise, we could never br on a jury, or vote on a pastor or even in an election. Also read Kalos' excellent posts 154495 and 135160. Searcher |

Scripture ... Due 13:1-5, 18:9-13, 22-23; Jer 23:25-26; Lam 2:14; Eze 13:9; 22:28; Mat 24:11, 24; 2 Pet 2:1; 1 Jhn 4:1 ... In June 1983 Ken Copeland said at Full Gospel Businessmen's National Convention in Birmingham, UK, prophesied that, by September 1983, the amount of people in the conference hall would have doubled, and by October it would have tripled. While he admitted he was wrong, he still is a false prophet. Source: http://www.intotruth.org/wof/mytest.html All we need is for one thing someone says not to come true, to make them a false prophet. The OT punishemnt is death ... all we do now is to NEVER listen to them. Read the Scripture I cited, and the posts below. God's day to you, jcdm327, and welcome to the SBF, I have read yoour other posts. I commend you for not following Copeland him any longer. It is tough to get out of the WOF or other groups. Even his faith teachings, while they helped you, are also not 100 percent correct. Even if they were, since he isn't 100 percent correct in his prophecy - NEVER listen to anything he says. WOF twists and turns Scripture (even adding thier own stuff) so I shout AWAY away with you. Study the backgound og WOF (or any group) and know the truth. I ask you to get others out of their web, before the spider eats them. You have been there and know the way out. Searcher |

You believing WOF lies is dangerous. Remember in John 5, Jesus only healed one man ... and lepers are cleansed (Matt 8:2-3), not healed. Also are you 100 percent whole - go to a doctor to see if there is anything wrong with you ... ohh is your vision 20/15 - if not you are not whole. Done with you.

Scripture ... Hebrews 9-10 ..................... Mark, greetings, A quick note Hebrews 9-10 shows me that the only thing that Christ did was to replace the sacrifical system, once for all time. I too am uncomfortable picking and choosing what was written in the OT to follow. People even do it with the NT. Searcher |
