God's day to you, justme, On May 11, 2000, an Atlanta judge signed the final divorce decree. I cannot find anything stayign they remarried, tho they tried to resolve the marriage during their separtion. When did they remarry? The gold ole boys and the church said he could stay just as long as he didn't remarry. Dr. Stanley had an excuse for his going back on his word. Searcher |

443 | Mary had sons why John? | John 7:5 | Searcher56 | 187721
Scripture ... Psa 69:8 ; Mat 12:46, 13:55; Mar 6:3; Joh 2:12; Act 1:14; 1Co 9:5; Col 4:10 ... God's day to you, chach, Be careful how you deal with this. Catholics claim that He had cousins. The word for brother (adelphos) sister is (adelphe) ... and cousin (anepsios) and used in the NT (Col 4:10), but not about His siblings. James (probably the author of the book of James), Joseph, Simon and Judas were children of Joseph and Mary, half-brothers of Jesus, based on Matthew 13:55 and Mark 6:3. His brothers are unnamed in Matthew 12:46, John 2:12 and Acts 1:14. His sisters are never named. One could cite another passage (1 Cor 9:5). The word used is for brother is adelphos, and adelphe is the word for sister, in each case. Also Psalm 69:8 shows that He had brothers. Hope this helps, Searcher |

Victrix. Please expalin "This Scripture also shows the wrongness of not letting an overseer or bishop of the congregation marry as organizations have stipulated. These teachings must have come from demons as is stated at 1 Tim 4:1-3."

446 | 3 days,3nights in the earth | 1 Sam 30:12 | Searcher56 | 187718
Scripture ... Luke 24:21 ... Okay, Victrix then what do you do with "today is the third day since" in Luke 24:21. It was the first day of the week aka Sunday (vs 1). So I see the 1st day since as Saturday the 2nd day since as Friday the 3rd day since as Thursday He died and was buried late on Thursday and arose before dawn on Sunday. Two whole days and nights and part of a day (Thursday) and a night (before Sunday dawn). Remember you are dealing with "three days and three nights" not "three days". Go ask a Jewish Rabbi how long Jonah was in the fish, if he went in 5pm Tuesday. Read my posts 134595 and 146178 post 8230 by Makarios. Searcher |

447 | What is the correct way to tithe? | 1 Cor 16:2 | Searcher56 | 187717
Scripture ... Num 18:21, 26; Deu 14:22-29 ... There were three tithes in the OT Law: 1) the general tithe paid to the Levites (Num 18:21), who even tithed to the preists (vs 26). 2) the sacred meal tithe (Deu 14:22-27) 3) The tri-annual tithe to the poor (Deu 14:28-29) So that was 19 percent per year for two years and 27 percent every three years, average 22 percent. 448 | What was the purpose of the law? | Gal 3:23 | Searcher56 | 187520
Hoppy, you are off the deep end. You twist Scripture. Jeremiah 13:23 is nothing to do with one a person be corrected as in 2 Timothy 2:25. I am done with you, since you refuse to listen and put up empty reason. S
449 | What was the purpose of the law? | Gal 3:23 | Searcher56 | 187516
Hopalong You are taking this verse OUT OF CONTEXT for what you believe. You must take each verse in its CONTEXT to apply it, else it is PRETEXT. Searcher |

God's day to you, Hoppy, 2 Timothy 2:25 says "with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth" ...the context is impoertnat, as always. ... so who are "those who are in opposition" ... believers or unbelievers? ... also what does the word "if" play in this? ... and where do you see 'Apart from God's "granting" no one has any desire to repent' in this verse or its context? 453 | gifts of Healing and Miracles for today. | 1 Cor 12:9 | Searcher56 | 187258
God's day to you, Hopalong, In John 5, was the man who Jesus healed the only person there? I know the Bible doesn't say, but, if the Bethesda waters could be stirred at anytime, I'd think that others would be there. Most think Paul's "thorn in the flesh" was a healing Paul wanted (2 Cor 12). Searcher |

454 | should all we be speaking tongues aloud | 1 Cor 14:23 | Searcher56 | 187232
God's day to you, Tim, You know Greek better than most (dare I say everyone) at the SBF. I would say there is no place in Scripture that tongues is an unknown language. In Acts 2:8, we read "And how is it that we each hear them in our own language to which we were born?" Which I think is interesting, considering Greek was spoken by most of the listeners. S |

456 | millennium pre and post | Rev 20:5 | Searcher56 | 186932
God's-elect, I do understand your point since you do not believe in a literal 1000 years. I believe all of Scripture is literal, unless it says otherwise ... with words like "like" "as" ... The first resurection is when some Christians will come to life. The second one is for others (maybe only Christians). The second death (Rev 2:11, 20:6, 14, 21:8) are for the unbelivers. I don't think those of the first resurection are the exclusive group of those who will not experience the second death. One point is that there may be new belivers during the 1000 years. I commend you on being willing to learn. Always be wlling to learn and adjust what you believe. The issue of the resurection and rapture will only be known when it happens. I am not worried about the timing - I am glad I know where I am going. Searcher |

Scripture ... (vs 4) Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of (1) those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, (2) and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, (3) and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; ... and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. (5) The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection" (Rev 20:4-5) God's day to you God's-elect, Do you see there are qualifications to reign with Christ for a thousand years ... and it is not all Christians? I believe it is a literial thouand years and a literial reign on earth. Also, based on this passage not all Christians will be raised at the same time. Searcher |
