2 Tim 3:16 is for Christians, and some say the world, but 1 Cor 7:14 is not for us.

3007 | When was "In the Beginning" | Gen 1:1 | Searcher56 | 17581
Hank, I'll try, tho CDBJ's source may do better. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Gen 1:1) ... means the earth did not exist before the beginning (nor were the heavens). Verse 2 starts, "The earth was formless and void." So does that mean it *was* formless and void before its creation or did *was* it that way when it was created. Now that you brought it up, you may be right ... but, we need to know it could be either way. My NIV has a footnote, that it could be became. I believe there was no earth before Genesis 1:1. Steve |

3008 | When was "In the Beginning" | Gen 1:1 | Searcher56 | 17572
CDBJ, The word hayah, "bacame" makes more since, otherwise I'd think the earth has always existed. The, was the serpent always more crafy, or did it become so (Gen 3:1)? Did Satan have any part of this process? Steve |

3009 | Question of Context? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Searcher56 | 17550
John ... which of these promises apply to Christians -Gen 12:1-3. How does fit with Mat 5:11-12 and other NT passages? -Gen 17:1-21. Is the land promised to Christians? If, so have YOU been circumcised? -Gen 18:10-19. Are Christians are mighty nation? -Gen 22:16-18. Do you think we will be possessing the gates of Abraham's enemies? -Lev 26:14-39. Will we be driven from the land and scattered? -Num 34:1-12. Where is the place God has set for you? -Deu 28:1-68. Do you want the results of obedience and disobedience on you? -Isa 49:14-26. Are Christians captives, who will return to their land? -Isa 66:5-10. Does the prophecy of a land "born in one day", a nation "brought forth in a moment" apply to Christians, too? ... Do you want more promises that God gave to Israel only? Do you want promises to indivduals? Even if "experts" say 2 Chronicles 7:14 can apply to Christians, the US or anyone else, they are not correct. Steve |

3010 | Question of Context? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Searcher56 | 17546
John, You didn't read what Tim said ... Tim said "This promise was addressed to Solomon about Israel in a specific time and circumstance." He did not say "Therefore we are incorrect to conclude that 1Ch 7:14 pertains solely to Old Testament saints whether Jew or Gentile." I'm still waiting for you to answer my questions. Is the promise to Abram in Gen 12:5 and that in Mark 16:16-18 apply to all Christians? Once again, not all promises apply to everyone. Where is your Biblical support that Naaman the Syrian, Nebuchadnezzar the Babylonian and the Phoenician widow of Zarephath, were called by His name? I want it for all three. Steve |
||||||
3011 | tongues: are there 2 kinds? | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 17545
Tim, who is doing the groaning in Roamns 8:26? Since it is something that words cannot express, is it a language? Isn't a tongue a language made up of words? So how could anyone claim that this passage is speaking in tongues? ... I see the Holy Spirit is groaning and not speaking in any tongue. Steve |
||||||
3012 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Searcher56 | 17543
Debbie, We will receive His promises, however the context does not fit us. Verse 13 ... has there been no rain? Verse 14 ... do the Christians have a land? Verse 15 ... are we in Jerusalem or the Temple? Verse 16 ... has God consentrated a place other than Israel? Steve |
||||||
3013 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Searcher56 | 17541
Lionstrong, I didn't say that. But YOU better read the context of 2 Chronicles 7:14 and stop being ignorant. I warned you not to carry on. Steve
3014 | Rev. 18:9-19 sounds like WTC? | Rev 18:9 | Searcher56 | 17466
Does NYC or the WTC have 7 hills? I doubt it. So, it does not fit.
3015 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Searcher56 | 17465
John, CONTEXT is important. Read it then decide, if this is (not) for the church. Verse 13 ... has there been no rain? Verse 14 ... do the Christians have a land? Verse 15 ... are we in Jerusalem or the Temple? Verse 16 ... has God consentrated a place other than Israel? You still haven't answered these questions, so I'll wait to answer yours. Steve |
||||||
3016 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Searcher56 | 17454
John, Then how does the context of the passage fit? It does not fit the church. Steve
3017 | Can we agree? | Hebrews | Searcher56 | 17451
Norrie, Just because Copeland said in 9 mos, you should expect to send some baby announcements, does not mean he knew. I imagine he has been wrong at least once. Therefore, he must be disregarded forever ... we cannot stone him (Deu 13). Also, I doubt the Bible says Adam gave the dominion to Satan. It may sound 95 percent good. Steve |
||||||
3018 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Searcher56 | 17450
John, Verse 13 ... has there been no rain? Verse 14 ... do the Christians have a land? Verse 15 ... are we in Jerusalem or the Temple? Verse 16 ... has God consentrated a place other than Israel? Do not take verse 14 and not include the whole context. Steve |
||||||
3019 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Searcher56 | 17448
John, are you saying this verse applies to the church or any other group? Steve
3020 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Searcher56 | 17446
Lionstrong, One last time. Not all the promises in the Bible are for Christians. Read the context and know it does not apply to us. Also read the context of Romans 15. You have been mistaught on 2 Chronicles 7:14. Steve |
