82 | Does anyone still beleive that God talks | Acts 9:4 | New Creature | 142120
Hi Doc. I think I can safely say that God not only hears our prayers, but also answers them. What this means is God still communicates with us today. I can remember a vivid instance where God spoke to my spirit by His Spirit. His voice seemed so clear, although I didn't actually hear a voice, I do believe I did hear from God. Here are the details A new job in my workplace had become available I prayed and asked the Lord, whether I should put in for this job or not. I sensed God telling me to go ahead and put in for it. I said Lord I don't want this job to bring glory to Myself. I want to be considered for this job opening only if You feel that you can use me in that position to bring Yourself glory. Besides the job payed less that the job I was currently working on, but meant that I would have the weekends off. I just felt as though I needed to stretch myself to a new work location. I thought of the possibilty of working with new people, and having them as my mission field to witness to. So I put in for the job. And I prayed to the Lord, Lord if I get this job, I will consider it Your will that You want me there. And if I don't get the job, then I will also consider it Your will that I should not be there at this time. Either way Lord, I committ this matter into Your keeping, and trust You for the results. A couple of days later, I found myself worrying about whether or not I would get this job. It was then that the Lord spoke to me. Here is what He said to me. "My child. Didn't you committ the results of this matter into My hands? Why do I find You worrying? It saddens me when I find you worrying like this, because it means that your not truly trusting Me for the results. At that point, I said. Oh Lord, please forgive me for worrying and for not trusting You completely for the results. I recommitt this matter back into Your hands. Whatever happens Lord, I will know it was Your will for me. Thank You Lord. I now had perfect peace concerning this. A few days later, I was called for a personal interview, and then the next day I was notified that I had been selected for the job out of 18 other candidates. Yes God still speaks to us today, And yes God gave me plently of doors opportunities to witness to others in my new work area. Praise God for He is good. |

83 | Why God allows such tragedy | Bible general Archive 2 | New Creature | 140867
Good reply lionheart I also believe that God can take all the circumstances that occur and use them for His glory. Sometimes the only way God seems to be able to get peoples attention is through diaster which often results in the lose of life. Many times these circumstances or pain are the tool that forces those who would otherwise never seek after God to now seek Him out. Pain sometimes is the only broadcast system people are atuned to Blessings New Creature |

84 | Is Gambling Wrong? | Bible general Archive 2 | New Creature | 140769
Hello Russ I remember in the past before I became saved, that I use to love playing card games, and gambling for small amounts of money. Once I became genuinely saved, I lost my love for card games altogether. I can't even stand to look at a deck of cards anymore. But thats just how God was working in my life. |

Another Commentary on Luke 3:36 this one from John Gill Luke 3:36 Which was the son of Cainan… This Cainan is not mentioned by Moses in (Genesis 11:12) nor has he ever appeared in any Hebrew copy of the Old Testament, nor in the Samaritan version, nor in the Targum; nor is he mentioned by Josephus, nor in (1 Chronicles 1:24) where the genealogy is repeated; nor is it in Beza's most ancient Greek copy of Luke: it indeed stands in the present copies of the Septuagint, but was not originally there; and therefore could not be taken by Luke from thence, but seems to be owing to some early negligent transcriber of Luke's Gospel, and since put into the Septuagint to give it authority: I say "early", because it is in many Greek copies, and in the Vulgate Latin, and all the Oriental versions, even in the Syriac, the oldest of them; but ought not to stand neither in the text, nor in any version: for certain it is, there never was such a Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, for Salah was his son; and with him the next words should be connected, |

Ed Adam Clarke gives this commentary on Luke 3:36 Luke 3:36 - Of Cainan - This Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, and father of Sala, is not found in any other Scripture genealogy. See Gen_10:24; Gen_11:12; 1Ch_1:18, 1Ch_1:24, where Arphaxad is made the father of Sala, and no mention at all made of Cainan. Some suppose that Cainan was a surname of Sala, and that the names should be read together thus, The son of Heber, the son of Salacainan, the son of Arphaxad, etc. If this does not untie the knot, it certainly cuts it; and the reader may pass on without any great scruple or embarrassment. There are many sensible observations on this genealogy in the notes at the end of Bishop Newcome’s Harmony. (Adam Clarke) |

Glenn Interestingly there are over 500 Flood legends worldwide. Ancient civilizations such as (China, Babylonia, Wales, Russia, India, America, Hawaii, Scandinavia, Sumatra, Peru, and Polynesia) all have their own versions of a giant flood. These flood tales are frequently linked by common elements that parallel the Biblical account including the warning of the coming flood, the construction of a boat in advance, the storage of animals, the inclusion of family, and the release of birds to determine if the water level had subsided. Amen Glenn Genesis appears uncomplicated in dating the parentage, and Biblical events. When the Bible says: Gen. 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: we know that Adam must have truly been 130 years old when Seth was born to unto him. Likewise Scripture says: Gen. 5:6 ¶ And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos: How much plainer can God possibly make it for us. Seth was obviously 105 years old when Enos was born unto him. etc. etc. etc. All one needs to do is take all the begatting dates to learn the time table of the early patirarchs, and flood time line. Genesis in my opinion is an accurate account of the times deaths and events in the lives of the people of God. Why people like Reese want to make it more difficult than what is written is beyond my understanding. I don't know where Reese comes up with his dates that would contradict Scripture, and neither have I seen any such proof that Scripture as it is written can not be trusted. There are many liberal theologians in the world who would have us believe that the Bible doesn't really mean what it says. If God didn't mean what He said, then why didn't He say what He meant. Some liberal scholars have even attempted to insert a "gap theory" between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. Someone once said: "It takes four years of Seminary school to teach an individual that the Bible doesn't really mean what it says. I have as yet to find any valid proof that the Bible can't be trusted as it is written down for us. Until I see valid proof that the Bible cannot be trusted then I will continue to believe what Scripture says. Blessings New Creature |

Glenn It appears that Jacob was 50 years young when Shem died. I also find that Abraham was 58 years young when Noah died One last fact that I find amazing is that Noah's father Lamech must have personally known Adam. Lamech appears to have been 56 years young when Adam died, and 113 when God translated Enoch. Can you imagine how the accounts about the building of the ark, the the wickedness of men and the flood as well as the account of how God took Enoch were being taught to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? 95 | So how do you hear God's voice? | Eccl 7:17 | New Creature | 135949
your welcome joy; One other suggestion on hearing God's voice. Someone has said: "In order to hear God's voice, first turn down the world's volume." We live in such a busy fast paced, noisy world these days. We need to get alone in a quiet place, and spend time alone with God in prayer and in His word. New Creature |

Dalcent; I don't see any the verses you listed as being in reference to sanctification. To sanctify means commonly to make holy, that is, to separate from the world and consecrate to God. I do believe in a positional sanctification and also in a sanctification that is a continious on-going process in the life of every believer in which we co-operate with the Holy Spirit. That is, we have a passive role in our progressive sanctification. I think you are trying to stretch the verses you listed to imply something more than what they actually say. Nevertheless, your entitled to your view on this. It's just that I believe you need better supporting text than what you have provided in order to convince me of any post-death sanctification. 98 | Born of the water means? | John 3:5 | New Creature | 134289
John 3:6 That which is BORN OF THE FLESH IS FLESH; and that which is BORN OF THE SPIRIT IS SPIRIT BORN OF THE FLESH equals natural physical birth BORN OF THE SPIRIT equals spiritual birth In the discourse between Jesus and Nicodemus, Jesus is speaking about "birth" That is why the word "born" is used 8 times in John 3:3-8 Now we all know what a birth is. If Jesus intended anything other that "birth" He certainly would have said as much. The fact is that in John 3, Jesus was making a contrast between two births, the natural and the physical. See John Morans comments on this thread as well. Blessings New Creature |
