Hello apale..., From where in scripture do you support the idea that the leper was to "then afterwards tell"? [Cf. Matt 8:4, 17; Mark 7:36, 8:38, Lk. 5:14, 8:56, 9:21] Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

784 | Once saved, aways saved doctrine refuted | Matt 10:1 | BradK | 53926
Dear Grace and Truth, I'm not quite sure that your brief refutation of "Once saved, always saved" stands up to scrutiny. Could you provide some further clarification, perhaps? You state that"Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve apostles, who had the Spirit of God, yet lost his soul". On what scriptural basis would you conclude he had the Spirit of God? I believe he had the spirit of the world, but the "Spirit of God" would be highly questionable.(1 Cor. 2:12) From scripture alone I don't know that we could draw that inference. Certainly the Apostle Johns' description in 1 Jn. 2:19 seems to fit Judas more aptly. Was he really a believer? I do not believe he was from a SCRIPTURAL basis.( Ananias and Sapphira would also fit into this category) Further, Johns warning in 1 Jn. 4:1-6 (to test the spirits) would seem to provide a pretty good framework for ascertaining whether one was truly a believer or not. (ultimately, only God knows the heart-Jer.17:9-10) Lastly, we do enter in a debatable matter regarding Eternal Security. I as see it eternal life is either that or God is the author of confusion. Eternal cannot be temporal! Both Eph. 2:8-9 and Titus 3:5 are very clear that we are not saved based upon our good works! Are we to conclude that our salvation is based upon faith, but our standing is based upon our works? Paul refutes this very soundly in Galatians 3:1-3. Also, how would you deal with John 10:28-30? Respectfully Yours In Christ, Bradk |

785 | Once saved, aways saved doctrine refuted | Matt 10:1 | BradK | 53932
Dear Grace and Truth, I appreciate your response. Again, maybe some clarification is needed. I concur that Acts 4:32 details the sharing among the believers, leading into Chap. 5 which brings forth the fate of Ananias and Sapphira. However, to directly infer they were "believers" is left unknown. Scripture does not give us a definitive answer. We could assume, but... As far as your references of John 15:16 and Matt. 10:20, I don't believe they are ample to support Judas' being a believer. The chosen apostles are listed in Matt. 10:2,3- with a qualifying note regarding Judas, "the one who betrayed Him". In Matt.10:20 it says,"the Spirit OF your Father SPEAKS in you". I does not say THEY were filled with the Spirit! The Spirit had not yet come, and they were not filled with it. See John 14:16-26! Respectfully Yours, BradK |

786 | Once saved, aways saved doctrine refuted | Matt 10:1 | BradK | 53943
Dear Grace and Truth, Since you asked, I'll kindly answer. I KNOW that I'm saved (1 John 5:11-13) based upon the all sufficient sacrifice of Christ and His atoning death on the cross. There's no guesswork. In answer to your second question, now we're getting into the realm of supposition. Can a (true) believer really "turn from following the Lord and die in sin"? I don't honestly see any Biblical basis to support this hypothesis. I think the more appropriate question to ask is: "Why would someone who is totally forgiven, In Christ, accepted in the Beloved, blessed with all the spiritual blessings in Christ, a new creation, totally loved, free from condemnation, and complete in Him want to turn from this? I haven't yet figured out how or why this could happen. As I understand scripture(and we may disagree here) my position In Christ is not based upon my walk, but upon His all-sufficient sacrifice! Brother, I hope this helps and explains my position adequately. Speaking the Truth in Love, Bradk |

787 | Once saved, aways saved doctrine refuted | Matt 10:1 | BradK | 53949
Dear Grace and Truth, I must respectfully, take issue with the "principle" you state from Ezek.18:4-32. I would not go to the OT to find doctrine regarding salvation as a NT Body of Christ member! To do so is to not "rightly divide the word of truth". Ezekiel is NOT written to the Body of Christ, but to the Jews under the Law. Further, they were not indwelt with the Holy Spirit, and Christ had not paid the penalty for their(Israels) sins. You are confusing a very basic issue between Law and Grace. Failure to heed the differences of scripture results in confusion and inconsistency in interpretation. Galatians 3:10-14 my friend! Still speaking the Truth in Love, Bradk |

Dear Grace and Truth, I do acknowledge your response and agree with Rom. 15:4. However, we seem to be at an impasse, and that's ok! I'll respectfully end this discussion in the spirit of love. I would like to ask one closing question regarding our eternal security: "Is it based upon the OT promises under the Law or the finality of Christs' atoning death?" Respectfully Yours In Christ, Bradk |

Dear bubbatate, I don't mind you jumping in in the least. I do concur with the majority of what you said in the spirit in which it was intended. But please don't hear what I'm not saying. Let me clarify. I can't and won't address every point you brought up, for time sake. If you have some specific issues, I'd welcome them as a follow-up though. First off, I may be guilty of not laying a proper foundation to establish a framework in my response you eluded to. It's difficult trying to be succinct and to the point in responding to a Forum member. We risk the possibilty of being misunderstood. We can't always address every possible aspect related to our response so as to prevent any potential for miscommunication. We can all do a better job in communication, for sure. Secondly, there was no attempt to be "proud" about anything in my response. May I suggest leaving out adjectives like this , as they can be viewed as condescending? In no way am I attempting to "fit" anything into my doctrine!( please check out my personal bio if it would be of help) My focus is NOT to promote a particular doctinal bias, be arguementative, or debate matters. On the contary, my purpose for participating in this Forum is to interact in a positive manner, to encourage, edify, and build-up fellow believers. Regarding your accusation about Ps. 119 and my church...? Not true! That's pure conjecture, my friend! You've taken my response TOTALLY out of its' intended context. Can I ask you to kindly refrain from speaking for me or my church?! Remarks like these are exactly what this Forum does not need! Lastly, as far as your final contention that (My) "analysis of what causes confusion and inconsistency is off course by 180 degrees". You are entitled to your opinion, brother. Respectfully Yours In Christ, BradK |

Hi CSM, I'm a little confused on what you're saying. You lost me after your first paragraph. It seems that you're taking the long route and not staying on point?! When someone, says, "yes, but..." what they really appear to be saying is that they don't totally agree, or "I agree" with qualifications?!? It seems that you're taking more time to read into scripture than you are acknowledging scripture to be sufficient on its' own! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

791 | Are you a follower of Jesus or a church? | Matt 10:32 | BradK | 108653
john1423: We are saved by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8-9). CDBJ is correct, and I see no error in his words. No offense intended, but you are advocating salvation by (very little) grace, plus works, then being kept by... works! I think I've summarized your belief correctly:-) Yours is a salvation that is both uncertain and hardly attainable except by self-effort. It is more like temporary life. You are most welcome to that, however I chose to believe in the God who "...is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He ever lives to make intercession for them." (Heb. 7:25) Let me ask you this: Do YOU really belive you are saved that way??? Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

Erik, Your post unfortunately reeks of spiritual superiority:-) You simply assume too much without having any prior relationship, repoire with, or knowledge of what I or anyone else on this Forum believes! I'm afraid you're putting the cart before the horse in making a statement like "Jesus applied His precious grace and blood to me because of my obedience to His gospel" What of Romans 5:8 where Paul writes "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Though I don't particularly care, how is is that I "claim to get in another way?" Finally, with all due respect, I've seen far too many, such as yourself, waltz in on this Forum proclaiming your views of salvation, pet doctrines, etc. and expecting to be heard or taken with any measure of seriousness. While you are entitled to your views, might I ask what it is YOU hope to achieve? It's been wisely said that a man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still. I'm still holding to mine. 793 | Is God's love really unconditional? | Matt 10:33 | BradK | 199267
Hello PapaH, For those of us who have been around awhile, it's sometimes difficult to gauge the basis of who's asking. It might help in the future to provide a brief reason as to why you ask a certain question. Since you didn't specify as to the level of depth or specifics you were seeking, I think terming the answer "shallow" is unnecessary:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Ralph2, The reason Emmaus was not called to back off JW rhetoric is that you are in violation of posted Forum guidelines. You might want to familiarize yourself with both the posted guidleines AND the Lockman Foundations Doctrinal Statement. One of the majoe ones is that the post is not an attack on the Diety of Jesus Christ! My friend, Jesus left absolutely NO option that He was a mere teacher! He is either, Lord, liar, or a lunatic to paraphrase C.S. Lewis. But let's not patronize ourselves with the notion that He left that in doubt. He did not ( John 14:6). 796 | God and gods? | Matt 11:11 | BradK | 123289
Tim, I'll second your wise words. Again, this is a Christian Study Bible Forum and as such it has specifically posted guidelines to be followed. It is not a chat-room or Debate Forum. 1. The Lockman Foundation has their Doctrinal Statement which I would think anyone should be in agreement with, initially; 2. There is a specifically posted warning at the top of the Home Page; 3. Before submitting a post, there is a further checklist given "To adhere to StudyBibleForum's intended purpose" My feeling is that any prudent person should do their due diligence to understand what the "rules of the game are" BEFORE posting. One is giving tacit approval to their acknowledgement of these when submitting a post. Ignorance is no excuse, because the Word of God is not to be handled lightly nor adulterated (2 Cor.4:2). Yes, we should always respond in love, yet how much "grace" do you give someone who is in open violation of the rules? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

797 | Is our faith tested by trials? | Matt 11:12 | BradK | 160638
Hi pako, I'm agreed with what you said for the most part, my friend:-) However, you also stated that, "we are partakers of the nature of God that includes good health, prosperity, success. So the thing now is to receive them and how to receive these things is another topic but is by faith." How do you reconcile trials as being part of the Christian life with the prosperity that is (supposedly) included? I'm curious as to your view of this potential dichotomy. Hi pako, Thanks for sharing your personal bio- I read it. It helps all of us to get to know one another. (Feel free to read mine, too). I am trying to understand you better, so I'm curious, how do you go deeper and "talk something more than theology but talk revelations?" As theology is the study of God, what then are the revelations you speak of? Are you talking extra-biblical? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
