Hello lillie, Well, I used to think I was in error. Then, I realized I was mistaken:-) Isn't it also possible that God- being Almighty- could just as well communicate through His inerrant, inspired, authoritative Word without tongues? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

822 | forgiveness? | Matt 6:15 | BradK | 177732
Glory51, How then would Eph. 1:7, 4:32, Col. 2:13, 3:13 enter into this realm of forgiveness? If our forgiveness is conditioned upon OUR forgiving others FIRST, then what was accomplished by Christ's death upon the cross? As I understand it, we are to forgive BECAUSE God in Christ has (already) forgiven us! There is a big difference. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

823 | Rapture beforeTribulation?? | Matt 24:31 | BradK | 177646
Hi Job, Please, You're being patently condescending! Without context, all you have is a pretext! You are simply jumping from one assertion to another! Is this just your view, or do you have any credible, scholarly support. Does it matter to you? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Hi Mark, You were a little more diligent than I in digging into this one:-) Your comments are noted and appreciated. I wouldn't exactly put all my eggs in this one basket. It's a good point about who "Morning star" refers to. The reference I used was from the Book of Bible Lists by H.L. Wilmington: Angels- 21 Facts about Angels. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

827 | Homosexual are picked on in the church? | James 2:1 | BradK | 177344
Hello journey_me, You are the one who initially posed the question. Without trying to be contentious, it appears to me that you do not like the answers. You are being far too broad in painting the Christian Church as attacking gays. That's not always the case. We have gays at our church. We love them but do not endorse or make excuses for their lifestyle! We also have unmarried couples at our church. We do the same for them. They are loved and welcomed. We can and should love the sinner, but hate the sin. The problem with Homosexuality in general, is that they do not see the practice of as sinful. Denying the truth will not open them to the Saviour- Who alone can change them! One must first recognize that they are indeed a sinner, and need to be saved from its' consequences. Christian "Homosexuals" have- by and large- attempted to redefine their behaviour and call evil good (Is. 5:20). That, in my estimation is the core of the issue to which you are seeking answers to. Am I getting closer on track with you? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

828 | Last what is an effeminate? | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 177334
Hi journey_me, The word you refer to is (Gr.) malakoi. The Enhanced Strongs Lexicon gives the following uses:[malakos] adj. Of uncertain affinity; GK 3434; Four occurrences; AV translates as “soft” three times, and “effeminate” once. 1 soft, soft to the touch. 2 metaph. in a bad sense. 2a effeminate. 2a1 of a catamite. 2a2 of a boy kept for homosexual relations with a man. 2a3 of a male who submits his body to unnatural lewdness. of a male prostitute. In context, It means abusers of themselves with men or males involved in unnatural lewdness. Vincent gives the meaning as: Luxurious and dainty. The word was used in a darker and more horrible sense, to which there may be an allusion here. I trust this helps, BradK |

829 | Homosexual are picked on in the church? | James 2:1 | BradK | 177328
Hi journey_me, Well, you are entitled to your opinion, my friend:-) The comparison is valid in my estimation because scipture does so! Might I add that your bias shows through in the attitude that one can be a practicing homosexual and a Christian! How so? On what scriptural basis- if the Word of God is truly authoritative! Your view more solidifies the cultural, Media-bias that is prevalent in our country. Since you claim that we "apply and mis-apply scripture to suit our preferences", can you provide and demonstrate from scripture your argument? While I agree that we need to bring people to Christ- for salvation and a changed life- it is not to rubber-stamp the lifestyle. Changed lives is the goal. Let me give you an example: I was a pretty hard-core, committed recreational drug-user for several years BEFORE I came to the Lord. I no longer engage in those activities. 830 | how do I fight enemy in my dreams | Rom 8:28 | BradK | 177277
Dear wisdom, I see no scriptural basis for a believer to be tormented in their dreams! However, we can look at, meditate on and pray the truths of Eph. 6:12-18! Notice that Christ is Personified in the armor. As I've stated before, God did not give us things, but a Person, the Lord Jesus Christ. Also, take hold of 1 John 4:4: "You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world." Have you trusted the Lord as your Savior? Might you expand on specifically how you're being tormented in your dreams? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

831 | MJH: Matthew in Hebrew and "Q" Document? | NT general Archive 1 | BradK | 177201
Hi MJH, You state that, "I do think there is strong evidence to support a 'Q' of some sort, if not in writting, then certainly in oral transmision. But it is still just a theory." OK, but what do the scholars say? Your "theory" appears to rest more in the realm of liberal scholarship, i.e. the Gnostic Gospels:-) Where is "Q"? In his book, Cracking DaVinci's Code, Dr. James Garlow- who holds a Phd in Historical Theology- makes these observations: "So how do these recent scholars make their novel case? They use a strange argument based on a document mentioned in The Da Vinci Code, a scroll called "Q". This is a little hard to explain, and is so obscure that we would rather not try. However, scholars have completely redefined Christianity on the basis of "Q", so bear with us as we attempt to explain it as clearly as possible. Scholars looked at Matthew's Gospel and Luke's Gospel and noticed that long sections of the material were identical. So they examined only that shared material, setting aside the rest. They noticed that the shared material does not speak about the death and resurrection of Jesus. "Aha" they thought. This means that both Matthew and Luke must have been using another scroll, from which they copied the material." No one has ever found such a scroll. As far as anyone knows, it doesn't exist. But, having guessed it into existence, the scholars called it "Q" and argued that it had to be earlier than either Matthew or Luke. In fact, they said, "Q" has to be the earliest Christian writing. From these extracted verses made into a book, these scholars then made up a new picture of Jesus. There are two major problems here. First, no one has ever seen "Q". It is a creation that exists purely in the minds of scholars. There was no manuscript named "Q" found in the sands of Egypt...or anywhere else. Second, there is no need for "Q" to exist at all. There is a very simple explanation for the shared material in Matthew and Luke: as he wrote his Gospel, Luke used material from Matthew's Gospel as a faithful witness about certian things." 832 | MJH: Matthew in Hebrew and "Q" Document? | NT general Archive 1 | BradK | 177179
Hello MJH, Do you have some strong, substantive evidence to back up your theory? It appears a bit more like conjecture than anything:-) With much intended respect, if you don't have the "energy" right now, why bother throwing out speculative notions and not backing them up? PS- As you've posted some 200-plus times, would you care to provide any substance to your Personal Profile? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

833 | Mathew,Mark,luke which written 1st | NT general Archive 1 | BradK | 177178
Hi MJH, I'm not sure how you would rank denial of the Diety of Christ in your statement that, "There are many things the Jahovah's Witnesses believe, some of which are true. Just because a cult which has errors in its teachings believes something, does not mean it is therefor false." The Council of Nicea in 325 certainly thought otherwise. I would call that not only significant, but a test of Orthodoxy in what constitutes a true believer! Your statement seems a bit akin to calling a barrel full of apples, OK because it only has a few rotten one amongst them! A cult is a cult and heresy is heresy! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

834 | How do we respond to Sam Harris? | 1 Pet 3:15 | BradK | 177155
How do we respond?: No Witnesses For Atheism "Charles Bradlaugh was the outstanding atheist in England. Down in one of the slums of London was a minister by the name of Hugh Price Hughes. All London was aware of miracles of grace accomplished at his mission. Charles Bradlaugh challenged Mr. Hughes to debate with him the validity of the claims of Christianity. London was greatly interested. What would Mr. Hughes do? He immediately accepted the challenge and in doing so added one of his own. Hughes said, “I propose to you that we each bring some concrete evidences of the validity of our beliefs in the form of men and women who have been redeemed from the lives of sin and shame by the influence of our teaching. I will bring 100 such men and women, and I challenge you to do the same. “If you cannot bring 100, Mr. Bradlaugh, to match my 100, I will be satisfied if you will bring 50 men and women who will stand and testify that they have been lifted up from lives of shame by the influence of your teachings. If you cannot bring 50, then bring 20 people who will say, as my 100 will, that they have a great joy in a life of self-respect as a result of your atheistic teachings. If you cannot bring 20, I will be satisfied if you bring 10. “Nay, Mr. Bradlaugh, I challenge you to bring one, just one man or woman who will make such a testimony regarding the uplifting of your atheistic teachings.” Again London was stirred. What would Mr. Bradlaugh do? In answer, Charles Bradlaugh, with great discomfiture and chagrin, publicly withdrew his challenge for the debate." [Encyclopedia of 7700 Illustrations] In Him, BradK |

835 | How long did Noah preach | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 177128
Hello iktoose, Yes, it is also interesting - or notable- that Noah was commended for his faith in Heb. 11:7! As C. H. Spurgeon observed in his sermon on this text about Noah: "Note well, that Noah believed alone, and preached on though none followed him. There were no other believers, if you except his wife and his sons and daughters. There were eight in all; but I am afraid that some of these rather believed in father Noah than in the living God. Noah shone as a lone star. He stood like yonder solitary column in the midst of a ruined temple. He believed with an unbuttressed faith. How pleasant it is to associate with our fellow-believers! It is a great refreshment for a solitary Christian to get into a large congregation, and to feel in unison with the child’s hymn — “Lord, how delightful ‘tis to see A great assembly worship thee! At once they sing, at once they pray, They hear of heaven and learn the way. I have been there, and still would go, ‘Tis like a little heaven below.” But how would you fare if you were alone, or were surrounded by those who called you a fool for believing in the Lord? To dwell where everybody is sceptical is as injurious to faith as for a man to live where the yellow fever is raging. To have your faith pulled to pieces, and held up to ridicule, is an ordeal which some cannot stand. What if you should be like Noah, a preacher of righteousness; how stern the duty of being a solitary witness! He preached for one hundred and twenty years, and at the end of it not one person was ready to go with him into the ark. His own family was saved, but nobody else — not a solitary one. What a trial! How it has made my heart glad, during the month of May, to see and propose for churchfellowship no less than sixty-nine! But if I had to preach for a year with no converts, what should I do? I hope I should persevere, in the name of the Lord God; but what a trial! What if life were prolonged for one hundred and twenty years, and after all that preaching nobody believed your word! That would be an infliction indeed." Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

836 | How do we respond to Sam Harris? | 1 Pet 3:15 | BradK | 177127
Hi Parable, I'm not sure I know what you're looking for? I provided an answer with a basis. You and I are not accountable (Or answerable) to Mr. Harris. 1. God is Sovereign! Mr. Harris has not established the definitive, unanswerable, unassailable argument! 2. Changed lives prove ministry. That was Paul's defense in 2 Cor. 3:1-3ff: "Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some, letters of commendation to you or from you? You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men; being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts." 3. Ours is to preach the Gospel- Rom. 1:16! It is the POWER of God... As H.A. Ironside was once challenged by an atheist to debate, he shut him up by asking to bring all those who had been changed for the better by his preaching (Christianity)- the atheist had no reply and declined to pursue the matter! How many lives will or has Mr. Harris changed by being a Philosopher? A Best-Selling author? How many have come off drugs, had their marriages healed, become better fathers or husbands by his message? There is no life-changing power in his message! No one is coming to eternal life by his "preaching"! 4. I do understand 1 Peter 3:15. The operable verb is "to those who ASK for the hope that is in you". Has Mr. Harris asked or demanded you to defend your belief? I do not owe it to him, nor do I feel any obligation to respond to him. Parable, I do not know this man and further do not plan on either buying or reading his book! Might I ask, why you feel so compelled to reply or defend his accusations? Do you feel he has established some merit in his hypothesis? Do you feel the Bible or the Christian faith comes short in some way? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
