1 | How Far Are We To Suffer For Christ? | 1 Pet 4:16 | remorse2 | 206804
Hello Bowler, Should we strike back?? Luke 6:27-36 says no. If you read Esther you will see that Esther 8:11 allows persons to defend themselves. What then was Jesus talking about in Luke and Matthew at the sermon on the mount? My answer is ATTITUDE!! We are to love those that persecute us. Just as a loving mother will punish her misbehaving child so should we seek justice against those who violate us. Don’t devise ways to get even. Seeking justice is not getting even. Suing someone for a bunch of money is getting even. Recovering your hospital bills is justice. Helping the police develop a case against them is justice. Hiring the thugs in town to hit them back is vengeance. Remember Jesus cares about who you love. If you love them you may have to behave just as Jesus did with the money changers in the Temple. He loved them and He stopped them in a violent manneer. Just do not sin in your anger. Ephesians 4:26 A lot of countries are not like the US. Justice is not for the Christian. We need to get to the heart of the matter. Why is there persecution? In Acts it’s purpose was to get the Christians moving (ACTS 11:19). In Revelation it’s purpose was give believers a chance to receive a crown of life and serve as a testimony for Christ(Revelation 2:10). It was also used to quicken or strengthen the church. I propose it still serves these same purposes. If you scatter, Good for you. Go and tell the new people you meet about Jesus. If you stay and die, You will be blessed with the crown of life. Stay or go blessings are in store. We the church need to be strengthened by these martyrs. We need to find ways to help them. We need to be prepared defend the faith that the martyrs have died for. Now with regard to those who will not give up their life style in order to follow Christ. Jesus said it best. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God Luke 16:25. Everything on this earth is drose. It will be burned up in the end. Tell those you know to give up the lifestyle obey Jesus and Live!!! Or keep the lifestyle and DIE. If you know someone that loves their lifestyle more than Jesus their lifestyle is an idol. They may just as well put their lifestyle in a shrine and worship it. I hope for their sake they repent and sacrifice their lifestyle for Christ. Oh, I updated my profile with my e-mail address. Grace and Peace, Albert |

2 | How Far Are We To Suffer For Christ? | 1 Pet 4:16 | remorse2 | 206801
Hello Val, The fit of rage was when he whacked the rock with his rod. Numbers 20:6-12 I should point out that denying the miracle to take place. That was actually what got Moses into trouble. This is supported by Ephesians 4:26 do not sin in your anger. You can get angry just don't sin. Moses also got angry at the Egyptian that was beating the Hebrew so He kills him. Exodus 2:12 I hope that helps Albert. |

Val I apologize. I just read my response to you again and I sound mean and gruff. I don't mean to. I am excited by the discussion and I want to get to the heart of the matter. Again I am sorry Albert. |

Thanks Cheri, Your 2 cents are appreciated. Verse 13 says it was the custom of the priest. Therefore it was customary. I don't think the procedure of poking a fork in a pot of sacrificial meat is inspired by God. God gave a procedure for the entire sacrificial process in Leviticus. It is quite long and detailed. That is why I need the help. Maybe I missed a section in the procedure that allows the priest or his helper to poke a fork in the pot of sacrificial meat. Albert |

5 | Where the priest impatient and greedy? | 1 Sam 2:13 | remorse2 | 206143
Val Thanks for your input but your have not answered my question. Eli was the priest therefore Eli's sons were priests as well by birthright. Eli's sons could not have been interrupting the priests because they were the priests. I agree Eli's sons had no regard for the Levitical law concerning the sacrifice. They wanted to stick to the CUSTOM of the day. In other words the custom of sticking a fork in a pot of meat may have had as much biblical basis as celebrating Christmas on the 25th of Dec. No sound "biblical" basis it is just church custom. So now the original question rephrased: Is there anywhere in the Levitical law concerning the sacrifice that outlines a procedure whereby the priest or his servant is allowed to stick a fork in the pot of boiling sacrificial meat? Yes I agree Eli was making a ton of mistakes here. Eli had the authority to remove his sons from this position but he did not. Bad move on his part. Eli does chastise them and tell them what they were doing with the women was wrong. But all he did was chastise. He did not remove them from their priestly office as Samuel will do with his sons in a few years. Eli was a talker he was not a doer. Albert |

6 | Wisodom has the power to save? | Rom 10:17 | remorse2 | 204187
Isaiah 55:11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty,Without accomplishing what I desire,And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. The seeds of my faith were planted when an athiest read the account of the burning bush and mocked it. The seeds of my Pastor's faith were planted when as a boy he read Deuteronomy concerning Divorce. The answer to your question is yes. Wisdom literature may be sufficient to call someone to a saving knowledge of Christ. |

10 | How do we get saved, by baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | remorse2 | 203728
The book of Galatians tells us to stop trying to be justified by law. Romans 11:1-6 Tells us it is grace that brought us into a saving knowledge of Christ 1Peter 1:2-3 Shows us it was through his mercy and grace that we have a reward in Heaven Romans 8:37-38 is the assurance that even though you are lead to be slaughtered God will not forsake you. To say that these scriptures support opposing arguments is tough. I would say these scriptures support different aspects of the Soverign Grace of our Lord. To sum up. Quit trying to be justified by law Grace is what saved you. Heaven is your reward. Nothing will seperate Gods hand upon you. |

11 | Do you know of extrabiblical sources? | Gen 12:16 | remorse2 | 203704
My sin was sufficient to send me to hell. I repent of my sin because it has put emnity between me and my creator. I am full of remorse because my Savior had to die to pay for my sins. Yet I rejoice because he chose me to be one of his elect. I still sin because I am still human. I still repent of the sins I do comit. I am filled with remorse at the sight of the cross. I still rejoice that my savior lives. It is an interesting set of emotions. One to be happy your savior lives. Second to be sad because you sins where why he died I talk to him and worship him constantly. Personally I can't wait to see him face to face. But I have many more tasks on this earth to complete before that time comes. Does that help? |
