34467 | do churches need to be founded by an apo | 2 Timothy | bro bob | 2372
Is a church not founded upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets as stated in Eph. 2:20 really a church? Does 2 Tim 3:5 mean we who believe the Holy Spirit is still active today should not fellowship with those who teach the casting out of demons and healing the sick stopped when the original apostles died? |

34468 | One group or two? | John 6:37 | Mike P | 2364
In John 6:37 is the phrase "and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out." just a furthur explanation of the earlier phrase "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me," or is it referencing a person not included in the group that the Father gives to the Son?
34469 | "Ervah" compared to "arom" nakedness? | Lev 18:1 | AmityPMB | 2359
In the answer given on nudism, quoting Leviticus, the word translated there as "nakedness" comes from the Hebrew word "ervah" - which refers to sexual or erotic nakedness. Nudism is NON-EROTIC and based on the Hebrew word "arom." Even your NASB does not use "nakedness" in its translation of the Leviticus passage. The question is, then, what about the Bible says about the "arom" -based nudism?
34470 | Did God know Adam would sin? | 1 Corinthians | TerryM | 2370
I was in a discussion yesterday with someone of the Jehovah's Witness faith. He made a statement that God could not have known that Adam was going to sin. If so, then why would God condemn Adam for disobeying. He said that would mean that God was not a loving God. Therefore, God did not know Adam would sin. I disagreed. This would be limiting God's power if He did not know something would happen. I believe that God knew Adam would sin. But He gave him the freedom to choose for himself whether to obey God. Just like we warn our children against some things and tell them the consequences of disobeying, God does the same with us. God, as well as parents, have to follow through on our words or they are ineffective. I believe God is an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present God. It is us that fall short. I would appreciate your views on this matter. |

34472 | Should I give or not? | NT general Archive 1 | Laurie | 2330
My husband is saved, but because of problems in a previous church that we attended, he does not go to church with me and our boys. I am a homemaker and so all of our income is from my husband's job. He does not approve of me giving an offering, but I would like to do so. Can you tell me if I am suppose to be a "cheerful giver" as I desire, or "obey my husband" as I also desire to do? How do I know which commandment God wants me to obey?

34474 | What unmarried sexual acts are sinful? | Bible general Archive 1 | Searchingfortruth | 2314
What is considered a sinful sexual act between a man and a woman before marriage (what about during marriage)? While I realize sexual intercourse prior to marriage is spoken of explicitly throughout the bible it does not explain about other sexual acts besides intercourse. While I have searched for guidance in this area in many places I have often received conflicting answers. Some say that everything below the neck is wrong, others say that the physical intimacy should reflect emotional intimacy with the highest emotional intimacy (marriage) being equated with intercourse. Still others guide me by saying that one should know EVERYTHING about their partner before marriage in order to make a good decision in choosing a lifelong parter.

34478 | when is prophecy near or far? | Isaiah | Pariter | 2741
Ezkeiel 12:21-28 is a message from God to Ezekiel that a proverb bemoaning the lengthy time for a prophesy to be fulfilled has accounted for a dismissal of prophecy by the people. Would it be reasonable from this passage to assert unless a prophecy says it is for a time in the distant future, that we may expect a near/soon fulfillment? As an example, should the prophecy and fulfillment of Second Kings 10:30 be considered near or far? Thank you. s/Lowry |
