33885 | A question of capitalization: Psalm 72 | Ps 72:1 | Ray | 6979
A question of capitalization; Psalm 72 I submit this to you for your consideration. It is in the hope that in this time of Bible translations galore that you will develop your own, marking your Bibles, putting in changes of capitalization (which are interpretive); for it is how we individually interpret scriptures that we get to know (Him) for ourselves personally. All nations shall serve Him; all nations shall call Him blessed. The capitalization will matter to you if you are (hopefully) looking for the King and not a king. Parenthesis mine for comparison, text NASB,choosing some marginal notes, and some NKJ. Psalm 72 A Psalm of Solomon l. Give the king Thy judgments, O God, and Thy righteousness to the king's Son. 2. He will judge (Thy) people with righteousness, and Thine afflicted with justice. 3. The mountains will bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness. 4. He will vindicate the afflicted of the people, save the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor. 5. They will fear Thee while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations. 6. He will come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, like showers that water the earth. 7. In His days the righteous will flourish, and abundance of peace till the moon is no more. 8. He shall also rule from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. 9. The nomads of the desert will bow before Him; and His enemies lick the dust. 10. The kings of Tarshish and of the islands bring presents; the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts. 11.Yes, all kings shall bow down before (Him). All nations shall serve Him. 12. For He will deliver the needy when he cries for help; the afflicted also, and him who has no helper. 13. He will have compassion on the poor and needy, and the souls of the needy He will save. 14. He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence; and their blood will be precious in His sight. 15. *So may he*live; and may the gold of Sheba be given to him; and let them pray for him continually; let them bless him all day long. 16. *May there be*abundance of grain in the earth on top of the mountains; its fruit will wave like the cedars of Lebanon; and may those from the city flourish like vegetation of the earth. 17. His name shall endure forever; His name shall continue as long as the sun. And men shall be blessed in (Him). All nations shall call Him blessed. 18. Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone works wonders. 19. And blessed be His glorious name forever; and may the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen. 20. *The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended. |

33888 | World English Bible | Bible general Archive 1 | roverjbh99 | 6933
There's a new Translation called the World English Bible (WEB) also called the American Standard Version of 1997 (ASV97). Like the NAS, it's a revsion of the 1901 ASV. However, it's different than the NAS. It uses 'Yahweh' for God's name and the Majority text as it's base for the NT. As I speak, the NT, Psalms, and Proverns are finshed. You can find out more at http://worldenglishbible.org. Is it better or equal to the NAS? Also, what are your thoughts on the WEB/ASV97? |

33889 | 'Born again' a moment in time? | 1 Pet 1:3 | charis | 6910
Saints, Is 'born again' a moment in time? Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3 NASB. I have never met a person who 'saw the kingdom of God' in it's fullness the moment they were apprehended by (or knew) Jesus. I have had glimpses of the kingdom in the midst of the church for years, but I doubt if I have seen fullness yet. Nor have I met many who could claim that they were 'filled with the Spirit' and free from all sin immediately after saying "Amen!" to the 'sinner's prayer.' I am still pursuing these blessings, and from what I observe, so are most Christians. It seems to me that the 'born again experience' in Christ Jesus has a starting point (meeting Him), a body (our life in Him), and a finale (when we meet the Lord Jesus, upon our 'giving up this earthly body' or 'meeting Him in the air.' Comments? In Jesus' name, charis |

33890 | Confirm the way the O.T. was written. | OT general | 308 - 15151 Prospect Ave, White | 6905
I was told that the old testament was originally printed with no comma's or periods However the sentences just go on and on. 33893 | Prophecy of city of Tyre fulfilled? | Ps 87:4 | Makarios | 6893
Considering the history of the city of Tyre (Ezek. 27-29), would Psalm 87:4 be a prophecy that was fulfilled when a Christian church was built on the site of the Melkharth temple? Some of Tyre's citizens came to hear the preaching of Jesus (Mark 3:8), and Christ visited the neighborhood (Mark 7:24-31) getting a favorable reception (Luke 10:13). Tyre was visited by Paul (Acts 12:20, 21:3-7). So would the church in Tyre be a fullfillment of Psalm 87:4 even though Tyre is prophecied against in Isaiah 23:1-18?

33897 | House wife or career wife? | 1 Thess 4:11 | Louder | 6826
Thanks Charis for the warm welcome: -) It so wonderful to see the mysteries of God for life being unveiled. That brings me to another question. What is the role of a Christian wife? Does she stay at home to have and raise children? Is it ok for her to go and work and desire a career? What if she desires to stay at home, however the husband needs her to work for the extra money to help him with the bills? This is a down to earth question. However it seems that most people I come across in many Christian families have this as a huge issue. |
