822 | Two groups of Christians at judgment? | 1 Pet 3:21 | Searcher56 | 113803
You said "let's agree to subdivide God's commands in the NT to His children, those who want to be with God at Judgment Day, into 2 groups." There are only two groups ... one example is sheep and goats (Matt 25:32ff). All Chritians are in the first group. How do you get two groups of Christians? |

823 | Angel, How is the Bible incomplete? | 1 Pet 4:6 | Searcher56 | 138984
Scripture ... 1 Cor 13:10, 2 Pet 1:16-21, 2 Tim 3:16, 1 Jhn 1:1-3 ... Angel, When I said ... "when Revelation was written, then prophecy and knowledge complete" ... it was one of two choices for about prefect (1 Cor 13:10). You said ... "Yet, we know that though the book of Revelation is complete as far as the offering of written revelations, we still need the Holy Spirit to do the actual interpretation and further refinement of the revealed matter... SO THE BIBLE ITSELF IS NOT COMPLETE! It is not lacking further revelations (new information/prophecies)... so in that sence it is perfected; yet, the written revelations cannot be resolved by man except through the Divine assistance of the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21) emphasis mine.. Why do you say, “the Bible in itself is not complete”? What do we need to add to the Bible? Is what we add inspired or just interpreted? When looking at this passage, I would start in verse 16, where we read we (Paul and others) did not follow cleverly devised tales. Then in verse 19 they had the prophetic word made more sure … they took the OT prophetic word and saw it proven (vv 16b-18) and now were telling what saw and heard (1 John 1:1-3). So I see verses 20-21 as saying the OT prophecy of Scripture is inspired. The NT is inspired, too (2 Tim 3:16). Searcher |

825 | CDBJ, Why can't you prove it by Bible? | 1 John 3:9 | Searcher56 | 144922
CDBJ, Eisegesis is when people use the Bible to force it to say what say what they wants. Doesn't matter what "Pastor" Thieme says, IF Scripture disagrees with him. Do you know what it means if you cannot prove what you or another says, by Scripture, and only believe what another says? That is a mark of a cult follower. |

826 | revpete7, What are the 3 of 5 in Acts? | 1 John 3:24 | Searcher56 | 172251
revpete79, I posted (172250) a question for you on Acts 19:2. Moving on ... You said, "The first evidence that you have been fully emersed in the Holy Spirit is that you will speak in a tongue that you have not learned and do not understand. Acts 2:4. Five times in the Book of Acts it talks about people who recieved the Baptism of or in the Holy Spirit and 3 of those times it spacifically mentions that they spoke in tongues. It does not say it about the gentiles but when Peter is telling the Apostles about it later he says they spoke in tongues just like we did at the beginning" ... What are the five times in Acts ... and the three times? ... Also, why isn't five of five times? Doesn't that prove it is "the first evidence". Note my count in Acts is different. |

827 | revpete79, When did he speak in tongues? | 1 John 3:24 | Searcher56 | 172255
Scripture ... Acts 9:4-6.17-22, 13:1ff, 22:6-16, 26:14-20 ... Did Saul/Paul speak in tongues when he was saved (or by your belief when he was baptized by the Holy Spirit) ... or was it later? See post 172254? |

831 | Can we select who gets our hospitality? | 2 John 1:10 | Searcher56 | 11677
Are we not suppose to practice hospitality? How far to we carry this? -What if the difference is teaching is minor, like denominational differences withing the envagelitical community? Does it mean that one may not invite Mormons, or other groups who just knocked at the door? Does it mean that it was wrong to say "hi" to that person? What about showing the love of Christ? -Are we faling to do so when we don't invite them in? Steve |

834 | Is The Whole Lord's Day Holy? | Rev 1:10 | Searcher56 | 82620
Do we really make the whole Lord's Day, His? Or do we only make the few hours at "His house" aka church His? Even then do we really make that time His? Or do we think about something else ... what we are going to do, haven't done? Are we at peace with Him and love Him ... as well as our neighbor? Or are we in our cliques, depising some and not seeing the stranger because of the mist? I ask these questions, because I sense we do not keep any day holy ... but, make it a holiday ... giving our Lord a little portion, at best. I challange each to make one day holy unto the Lord. 835 | RC, Was Jesus a Nazarite (Num 6:1-21)? | Rev 1:12 | Searcher56 | 79134
Scripture ... Num 6:1-21; Jdg 13:4-7; 1 Sa 1:11; Matt 2:23, 26:29; Mark 5:41; Luke 1:15; John 2:1-10, 4:46, 19:30; Acts 21:24 ... RC, time for a Bible lesson. You are the one misinformed about a Nazarite. Please read Numbers 6:1-21. What does it say? Parents were told, or promised, that their unborn sons were to follow part of the Nazarite vow (Jdg 13:4-7, 1 Sa 1:11, Luk 1:15). Acts 21:24 may be part of a Nazarite vow. As you can see being a Nazarite or taking a Nazarite vow, has nothing to do where someone was from. Matthew 2:23 and other passages tell us Jesus is a Nazarene, one from Nazareth. Mark 5:41 says He touched a body of a dead person, forbidden by a Nazarite (Num 6:6). He also drank wine (Matt 26:29, John 19:30). He make have had some earlier (John 2:1-10, 4:46) Was Jesus a Nazarite? |

836 | jcsav, are there candlesticks today? | Rev 2:1 | Searcher56 | 146938
jcsav, in post 146934, you said ............... "And if he said, that he would remove one of these (if they did not repent) (Rev 2:5) Then there is no reason why we should think, that every group and denomination that say they know him, have a candlestick before him." As I look at the context (Rev 2-3), I see there are only seven golden candlesticks (lampstands) - the seven churches , and this verse says there are "seven golden lampstands" ... so where is your support there are others? Searcher PS Please note I started a new thread, since we are talking about a new subject-verse |
