682 | sheila, why pray for a lesser gift? | Gal 3:28 | Searcher56 | 122358
Scripture ... Matt 13:10-23, Acts 2:16-21 (Joel 2:28-32); 1 Cor 12:11, 27-30 ... sheila, You said ... I am 41 yr old woman, I was filled with the Holy Spirit when I was 19yrs old, speaking in Tongues. I pray in Tongues "spirit" in the shower, driving down the road in the car. Quietly to myself during worship at my church, It builds up my spirit see Acts 2 amp AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, 'THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY,AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS. - You quoted only Acts 2:17. Verse 18 tells us it is prophecy. There is nothing about speaking in the context (Acts 2:16-21) or what Peter was referring to (Joel 2:28-32). Moreover, I think this is for Israel, since that was the audience both times. - So when you are driving, is your focus on God or the road ... or is your attention split? You said ... It is so real. Anytime the enemy can cause doubt or fear he will, he is a liar and deceiver. The Holy Spirit is an inity, that needs recognition. - The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity. Satan has been trying to cause doubt; and he did it in the Corinthian church. It is why Paul had to correct them (1 Cor 12-14), including their use of babbling, instead of speaking a foreign language. Last sunday we had a message in "Holy Spirit" tongues given by a woman she spoke and then gave the interpetation, we had about 4-6 people came foward to be born again. It was all in perfect accord, very orderly. You said ... I challenge those who so courious about the Holy Spirit and the GIFT pray ask God for this GIFT, if you are serious he will provide. - Tongues is a lesser gift and we should desire greater gifts (1 Cor 12:27-30). Note is doesn't say pray. Moreover, the Holy Spirit gives the gifts as he determines (1 Cor 12:11). You said ... I believe this is in accordance with the scripture in Matthew 13:11. - How are the secrets of heaven - the answers to the parables (Matt 13:10-23), have to do with speaking in tongues? Searcher |

Ephesians 1:20, NKJ, "seated [Him]? Question (full): Hi Doc and forum, The King James version has [hath He quickened] in italics because it is not in the Greek. So if you agree with the King James in leaving the pronoun "He" hath quickened us" for verse five out of the interpretation, then we have a double problem in determining what was meant in the Greek. Did He quicken us or did He not? From the heart, Ray |

689 | Did He Led Captives @ Death/Ressurection | Eph 4:8 | Searcher56 | 211999
I wonder if His leading captives could refer to Matthew 27:52-53, where we read “graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many?”
690 | Dr. B. What does aggelos mean? | Eph 4:9 | Searcher56 | 171591
Dr. B., Here is another question for you. Are you saying that aggelos (angels) are the humans ... the "sons of God" from Genesis 6:2? It appears I do not understand your view on the Greek. Your view on the context is strange, I see the angels happening at a time before the flood, as the flood happened before Lot's rescue. Searcher |

693 | Dr. B. Who're the angels (2 Pet 2:10-11) | Eph 4:9 | Searcher56 | 171653
Scripture ... 2 Peter 2:2-11, Jude 1:5-8 ... Dr. B., Let us compare these passages 2 Peter 2:2-3 is not in Jude 2 Pet 2:2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 2 Pet 2:3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep Jude 1:5 is not in Peter Jude 1:5 Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. 2 Peter 2:4 and Jude 1:6 tells about the same event, using different words – they weren’t killed 2 Pet 2:4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment; - Jude 1:6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, 2 Peter 2:5 is not in Jude … and I hope you agree these were killed 2 Pet 2:5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; 2 Peter 2:6 and Jude 1:7 tells about the same event, using different words. Do you agree they were killed with brimstone. 2 Pet 2:6 and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter; - Jude 1:7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire. Compare 2 Peter 2:7-11 (especially v 10) and Jude 1:8 2 Pet 2:7 and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men 2 Pet 2:8 (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds), 2 Pet 2:9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, 2 Pet 2:10 and especially those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble when they revile angelic majesties, 2 Pet 2:11 whereas angels who are greater in might and power do not bring a reviling judgment against them before the Lord. - Jude 1:8 Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, and reject authority, and revile angelic majesties. … what about the angels and angelic majesties … are these those in Genesis 6:2, or are they those angels in heaven? 694 | What is the diff between pros and eis? | Eph 4:12 | Searcher56 | 212422
In Ephesians 4:12 we read ... for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; ... in the NJV, it is 3 fors ... in the Greek ... pros ton katartismon ton hagion eis ergon diakonias, eis oikodomen tou somatos tou Christou So my question is ... is YLT "in order fully to" for the first for pros better? 695 | Why is it knowledge of the "Son of God"? | Eph 4:13 | Searcher56 | 212000
Why is it knowledge of the Son of God ... fullness of Christ? Paul uses Son of God only three times (Rom 1:4; 2Co 1:19; Gal 2:20) and we are to know Eph 1:17 (Father), Col 1:9-10 (His will and God), Col 2:2 (Christ), 2Pe 1:2-3 (God and of Jesus our Lord), 2Pe 2:20 (Lord and Savior Jesus Christ), when Paul and Peter refer knowing (epignosis) someone. So why "Son of God" and not Christ? Searcher |

Scripture ... Eph 5:33; Col 3:22; 1Pe 2:17; Rev 14:7, 15:4, 19:5 ... Rabbi Mark, Did you look at the word in the original? Phobeo (Strong's Number 5399) means "to put to flight by terrifying (to scare away)" ... and in this case to reverence, venerate, to treat with deference or reverential obedience" ...
