161 | How does God speak today? | Acts 9:4 | Searcher56 | 142139
But, does He still talk to us as He did in the past ... even in the past He spoke only to the fathers in the prophets and then in many portions and in many ways (Heb 1:1)? Heb 1:2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world |

165 | Is it He can't look at sin WITH FAVOR? | Mark | Searcher56 | 141534
Scripture ... Gen 6:5, 18:21, 38:7 ... I know about these 3 passages which I see that God looks at sin ... but He doesn't look at sin with favor. Gen 6:5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. |

166 | How Are We Reading Thru The Bible? | Ps 119:148 | Searcher56 | 140555
Scripture ... Hebrews 5:12-14 ... There are some, dare I say many, who encourage us to through the Bible in a year, even online sites. Is JUST reading through the Bible enough? I know at least one person who has read through the Bible several times, yet is only at the milk level. I do think we need to read through the Bible, but not as a textbook ... but with meditation ... and seeing how it fits the book of the Bible I am studying. Please comment. |

167 | How is tongues evidence? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140403
I believe do not understand what it means to obey Acts 2:38. You bring up tongues and it is not there. It is there BEFORE Peter spoke Acts 2:38, not AFTER, so how is tongues evidence of receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit as the result of "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins"?
168 | Why doesn't the Bible tell about the 3K? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140344
Since you quoted Acts 2:38 about receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit and I believe said that THE sign was speaking in tongues, I asked if the 3000 spoke in tongues. You didn't answer the question. Why doesn't the Bible say they spoke in tongues? Since God mentioned those who were saved spoke in tongues at salvation only twice (Acts 10:46, 19:6) ... I think it is forcing Scripture to say we must speak in tongues to prove we are saved. I agree the Paul did not speak in tongues when he recieved the Holy Ghost (Acts 9:6) ... he was filled in verse 19. Also, that he spokes in tongues more than the Corithians (1 Cor 14:18). It was one of his gifts (1 Cor 12:10) which he used in his travels. He could of spoke Greek, which was maybe learned ... but the audience may have ben more receptive if he spoke in their language. Yes, Acts 2:4 says they spoke in tongues ... in a KNOWN language of the listeners (vv 8-11) ... which I see to be consistent in the Bible when tongues are mentioned. Acts 8:18 doesn't mention tongues and is again forcing Scripture (eisegesis) to say Simon what to copy waht the apostles were doing (vv 19-24). |

169 | Times people prayed together? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140337
Claiming to "speak the Truth and know what I am talking about" doesn't make it so. It is one reason I do not always side with the experts and more important check out what anyone says or writes with Scripture. Scripture is consistent. When I am in error in what I believe, I make adjustments. There are some minor issues which all sides can claim they know the truth, based on Scripture. In that case, I may change ... or not. All I asked is praying aloud together Biblical? Your first step is to see how many times people prayed together. Then was it ever out loud? |

170 | Saved w/o receiving the Spirit? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140309
Can one be saved and not receive the Spirit?
171 | Filled w/ Him always mean tongues? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140308
While only God knows it is true ... when one receives the Holy Ghost (Spirit) there are different reactions - from a dramatic scene to a stoic face. In Acts 4:8-17 did Peter speak in tongues, at that time? In Acts 4:31 was there speaking the word of God with boldness or in tongues? In Acts 9:17 and 13:9 did Paul speak in tongues, at that time? In Acts 13:52 is there any mention of speakling in tongues? Then, is there speaking in tongues related to being filled with the Holy Spirit (Eph 5:18)? |

172 | jcsav, is pletho and lambano the same ? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140306

173 | "In EVERY case"? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140303
Prove in the Bible ... "I(n) every case where the person yielded himself to the Holy Spirit they spoke in tongues." Also, does that mean only Cornelius and Co. (Acts 10) and The 12 (Acts 19) yielded themeselves to the Holy Spirit in athe salvation accounts in Acts? What did the others do if they didn't yield?
174 | Did the 3,000 speak in tongues? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140302
Does the Bible say the 3,000 (Acts 2:41) spoke in tongues? It does say that Cornelius and Co. spoke on tongues when the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out (doesn't say received or filled) on them (Acts 10:45-46). Then in Acts 19:5-6 Holy Spirit came on the 12 and they spoke in tongues ... it doesn't say "gift". These are the only two accounts of speaking in tongues at the time of salvation in Acts.
175 | Where's Gift ... following with Tongues | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 140237
Where is "Gift of the Holy Ghost following with Tongues" in the Bible? Why doesn't say the 3000 in Acts 2 spoke in tongues ... in fact only twice in Acts, do we see speaking in tongues at the time of salvation.
176 | Diff filling vs receiveing the Spirit? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140231
Do you know the differnece between the filling and receiveing the Holy Spirit? Support it Biblically.
177 | Is speaking in tongues THE only sign? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140230
"THE" only sign? If speaking in tongues is "THE" only sign, then I guess the other spiritual gifts (1 Cor 12) do not count. Of course ... whn you speak in another tongue, it is a known language to at least of one the human listeners ... or is it a language at all. I also think James 2 talks about a sign of a believer. |

178 | Is praying aloud together Biblical? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Searcher56 | 140228
Scripture ... 1 Cor 14:27-28 ................... I agree with "Paul never said not to pray out loud together" ... however, where in the Bible does it say we can pray aloud together? Have you read my posts (116386 and 48618)? If the "order of Church services in Pentecostal Churches" is not 100 PERCENT Biblical (the truth) it is trash. The BIBLE says only one person was to speak (and praying is included) one at a time and at the most three are to speak the entire service. If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and one must interpret; but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God" (1 Cor 14:27-28). I know for a fact that someone spoke in Greek John 3:16, then it was incorrectly interpeted. When the Greek speaker challenged the interpetation, what he said was verified by a member of the Pentecostal church, who was a Greek prof. |

179 | Prove Galilee means revolution w/ Bible | John 2:1 | Searcher56 | 140023
Cana means "place of reeds" and not related to zelos. The same is true for Galilaia not being related to anastatoo.
180 | Are you calling the Holy Spirit an "It"? | John 2:1 | Searcher56 | 140018
Do you mean "It will have to be great to protect the Jews from onslaught of satan" ... the "It" is the Holy Spirit ... you offend me GREATLY. My Holy Spirit is God and is addressed as He ... and is Satan not working now? |
