281 | Whose power perfected in weakness | 2 Cor 12:9 | Ray | 137461
My NASB Study Bible marginal note for 2 Corinthians 12:9 says [Later mss. read My power]. Because the manuscripts differ we have different versions of the Bible. 2 Corinthians 12:9, NASB, "And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me." 2 Cor 12:9, NKJ, "And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness". Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." I am considering the power of God. I was comparing some verses which in my mind relate to 2 Cor 12:9. I welcome comments. 2 Cor 13:4 with 2 Cor 4:7 Luke 22:43 with 2 Cor 13:4 Luke 22:46, NKJ with 2 Cor 13:7 Luke 22:45 with 2 Cor 13:12 1 Cor 10:13 with 2 Cor 12:9 Any comments on these comparison verses? 282 | Strength through Him or in Him? | 2 Cor 12:9 | Ray | 137584
Philippians 4:13 comes to mind. "I can do all things through Him [Christ] who strengthens me". This is another place where the manuscripts differ. It is a place where the capitalized "Who" or "the One who" would be voted for. The Greek has the definite article (Strong's 3588) and some manuscripts have the word "Christ" later in the verse. Whose power is perfected in weakness? |

283 | Fellowship of the Holy Spirit | 2 Cor 13:14 | Ray | 62577
Let"s talk about fellowship. What is 2 Corinthians 13:14 talking about when it says that may "the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit [holy spirit?] be with you all."
284 | Whose Son is He? | 2 Cor 13:14 | Ray | 114275
Hi jcsav, I was interested in your lower case "spirit". Even the King James version has Spirit capitalized showing that the word spoke of Deity. Matthew 10:23, "But whenever they persecute you in this city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you shall not finish going through the cities of Israel, until the *Son of Man comes." Luke 21:14, "So make up your minds not to prepare to beforehand to defend yourselves; 15 for I will give you utterance and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute." Luke 21:27, "And then they will see 'the *Son of Man coming in a cloud' with power and great glory." Who is speaking in these passages and whose name is being spoken of? What do you think about the Christ? Who is the Spirit? Matthew 22:42, NKJ, "saying, "What do you think about the Christ, whose Son is He?..." From the heart, Ray |

285 | The work of God: hearing with faith? | Gal 3:5 | Ray | 144504
Comparing Galatians 3:2-8 with John 6:28,29. Galatians 3:2, NKJ, "This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? 4...5 Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?--" Question: Does He work miracles among us by supplying the Spirit or spirit? What shall we do, that we may work the works of God? From the heart, Ray |

286 | From faith to faith | Gal 3:6 | Ray | 63728
Between the hearing of faith (Galatians 3:5)and those who are of faith (Galatians 3:7) what is there?
287 | "What is the Spirit saying to you? | Gal 4:6 | Ray | 54299
What is the Spirit of His Son saying to your heart when you hear Him saying "Abba! Father!"?
288 | What do we have? | Gal 6:1 | Ray | 94726
Recent discussions here on the forum have led me to compare Galatians 6:1 with 1 Corinthians 7:40. Could I interest anyone in comparing those verses and giving us your thoughts? From the heart, Ray |

289 | How is your spirit shown? | Gal 6:18 | Ray | 62021
Paul says that he bears the brand-marks of Jesus "ON MY BODY". 2 Corinthians 4:9,10 says, "persecuted, but not forsaken, struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about IN THE BODY the dying of Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested IN OUR BODY." I would be interested in hearing some reflections on this comparison of contrast and hearing some other verses that come to your minds. From the heart, Ray |

290 | How does this order of authority work? | Eph 1:20 | Ray | 83560
I want to offer this translation from Jay P.Green, Sr., Editor from Interlinear Greek-English New Testament, third edition. Perhaps someone knowledgeable in Greek can comment on its merits. Ephesians 1:20, "which He worked in Christ having raised Him from (the) dead; yea, (He) seated (Him) at His right in the heavenlies,...v22 and He put all (things) under His feet and gave Him (to be) Head over all (things) to the church." What I want to do is compare these verses with 1 Corinthians 11, looking at Christ as our Head. Is Jay P. Green's translation/interpretation not indeed a good one? I think that it is; what do you think? From the heart, Ray |

291 | A fresh mental and spiritual attitude? | Eph 4:23 | Ray | 149920
Reference: #149919 Does Ephesians 4:23 relate to Romans 8:15 and receiving a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Daddy, Father"? |

292 | Freewill offerings of the mouth? | Eph 5:8 | Ray | 66490
I had a pencil in my Study Bible at Ephesians 5:8 for that is where I had been meditating while here on the forum. When a nice e-mail came from Robert Nicholson, it referenced Psalm 119:105 and so I began to compare that passage with Ephesians 5:8. This question can be answered from a comparison of these passages, I believe. Psalm 119:105-112 compared to Ephesians 5:8-20. "What could be thought of as 'freewill offerings' of my mouth?" Psalm 119:108. From the heart, Ray |

293 | What are the devil's roads? | Eph 6:11 | Ray | 120420
I heard the first part of a message on this verse today and am sure that I will not hear the last part of it. Can anyone speak to the Greek "methodeia" as it relates to 2 Corinthians 2:11 also. I am considering the ways of thinking and the "roads" or ways that the devil would lead us on. The Greek for road is "ode" and we should not be unaware of his ways. From the heart, Ray |

294 | Two swords:is the love of God enough | Eph 6:17 | Ray | 120483
"We need to do our best in every way to protect the saints, encourage them, and strengthen them just as Peter was encouraged to do." Are the word of God and praying in the Spirit the two swords? Luke 22:32: I have prayed for you...strengthen your brothers. Ephesians 6:10: Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Luke 22:43: Thy will be done. "Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony He was praying fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground." 295 | Standing firm in one Spirit/spirit? | Phil 2:1 | Ray | 113496
I want to take this opportunity to thank Justme and all of you for your continued prayers for me during these two years of fighting prostate cancer. I have been able to stay around for as long as I had been given hope for, and even now being in a round of chemo therapy am feeling quite well. Thank you all. God is good. Question: In comparing/contrasting Phil 2:1 and Acts 4:31, would you say that we have lost some of the fellowship of the Spirit? Are we even united in spirit? Scriptures: 1 Cor 6:17; 2 Cor 3:18; 1 Peter 2:18; Phil 1:27; 1 John 3:24; Ephesians 4:5 From the heart, Ray |

297 | spirit/Spirit? | Phil 3:3 | Ray | 54566
Philippians 3:3, NKJ, "For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,..." Philippians 3:3, NASB, "...for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no conficence in the flesh,..." John 4:23, "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit [or Spirit], and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." Do you worship "in spirit" and "by the Spirit of God" as the Amplified version reads for Philippians 3:3. Do you worship "in spirit" and "in the Spirit of God? From the heart, Ray |

298 | What do you say? | Phil 4:8 | Ray | 41375
What do we say to a question that begins with talking about rape and ends with the word suicide? I don't know because that is not my expertise. I only know that the situation can not be ignored and help must be sought from any source dealing with crisis. I think that when one is depressed because of an experience of violence like rape, and feels anger toward God, feeling unloved, helpless, and useless, then one needs to seek professional help outside of the realm of something like this forum. I mean to say that it will require much time and effort outside of this web site. But if one can keep the mind on good things, then he/she can make it through it all. From the heart, Ray |

299 | Being in the Beloved? | Col 1:12 | Ray | 137178
The 1995 copyright of the NASB has several capitalization changes for the word "Light" and this verse is one of the changes. I agree with that change. I would welcome comments on a comparison of Colossians 1:13 with Ephesians 1:6, which I suggest is a perfect match. From the heart, Ray |

300 | In Whom, in whom, or in Him? | Col 1:14 | Ray | 137300
I was asked what I thought about capitalizing different versions of the pronoun "who". For instance in comparing Col 1:14 above with the NASB and the Amplified; we have both "in whom" and "in Whom". My answer would be that even though we know the One of whom the verse speaks, I would not count the pronoun "whom" as speaking of the Person Himself. In other words, the verse could just as well be translated, "in Him we have redemption"; in which case I would certainly capitalize the pronoun. The choice of "who" or "He" is up to the translator. I would influence or encourage a translator toward as much consistency as possible. The same Greek letters are used in Colossians 1:14 and Ephesians 1:7 but I will show the actual printed translations here. Colossians 1:14, NKJ, "in whom we have redemption..." Colossians 1:14, NASB, "in whom we have redemption..." Ephesians 1:7, NKJ, "In Him we have redemption..." Ephesians 1:7, NASB, "In Him [marginal note, Lit. whom] we have redemption..." I hope that this will give us a starting point for discussion. From the heart, Ray |
