341 | Yet another capitalization question? | Heb 7:26 | Ray | 6366
I believe that we have such a High Priest unlike the high priest(s) of verse 27 who first have to offer sacrifices for their own sins daily for He is a Son, made perfect forever. I have found agreement among friends that Jesus was fully human and fully God. I have capitalized son, I have capitalized high priest as other versions of scripture have, I have capitalized God because He is not a god. My question is this: How important is it for us to think of Jesus as the Son of Man instead of a son of man? How important is it for translators to capital man when speaking of Jesus? |

342 | A question of capitalization: small "s"? | Bible general Archive 1 | Ray | 6048
The NASB enters an alternate capitalization occasioning at the bottom of the page. Consider with me the three "in the Spirit" occurances of Rev 1:10, Rev 4:2, and Rev 21:10. How many of you would make this a small "s"? Also, how about Son of Man in Rev. 1:13?
343 | Is there another helper? | John 5:43 | Ray | 4778
John 5:32 says,"There is another who testifies of Me, and I know that the testimony which He gives about Me is true. John 5:43 says, "I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, you will receive him." What would be your objection to capitalizing the word "another"? Would you agree with ..."if Another comes in His own name, you will receive Him."
344 | Filled with Holy Spirit or holy spirit? | Acts 21:4 | Ray | 2627
Hi, I am a capitalizer. I like to capitalize Deity and love the NASB because of that. Sometimes I disagree with them when they capitalize Spirit when it speaks of an angel. Here in Acts 21:4 I disagree because I think it was the spirit within them that was speaking. I know the Holy Spirit is a Person. I know also that He is Power. I also think that some searchers like the Jehovah's Witness people believe that the Holy Spirit is a power only. Just what would we be filled with as born-again believers? The Holy Spirit or the holy spirit? See Luke l:15; Luke 1:41; Luke 1:67; Luke 4:1; Acts 2:4; Acts 4:8; Acts 4:31; Acts 9:17; and Acts 13:9. |

345 | Why five words? part 2 | 1 Cor 4:16 | Ray | 1937
1 Cor 4:16 "I exhort you therefore, be imitators of me....v.18"Now some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I shall find out, not the words of those who are arrogant, but their power. For the kingdom of God does not consist in word, but in power. What are the five words of power between this verse and 1 Cor 6:16? |

346 | Why five words? | 1 Cor 14:19 | Ray | 1859
Why the choice of the number five in I Corinthians 14:19? "I thank God, I speak in tongues more than you all; however, in the church I desire to speak five words with my mind, that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue."
347 | Malachi-John 17 brain teaser | Malachi | Ray | 1514
I have an exercise, a brain-teaser, an intellectual, philosophical challenge to extend to anybody out there. After looking at the book of Malachi, three and a quarter pages, in both the NASB and NKJ, especially noticing the use of capitalization in Mal l:6 and 2:10, I suggest this exercise. Go to John 17:l-26, the high priestly prayer of Jesus or High Priestly prayer. Use a pencil, an old Bible, or your computer, and put in the capitalization you would decide appropriate. The challenge I would put forth is that you have the total capitalized pronouns be divisible by three. Anybody interested? |
