Hi guys, I suppose that you are looking at baptism in these verses. However, in comparing the passages I contemplated on how everything has been subjected to Him after He went into heaven. Mark 16:15, "And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it shall not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." 19 So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was RECEIVED UP INTO HEAVEN, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed." 1 Peter 3:21, "And corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who is at the right hand of God, HAVING GONE INTO HEAVEN, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him. 4:1, "Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God." 166 | Can one have the Spirit of God? | 1 Cor 7:40 | Ray | 108474
I personally like to distinguish between the gift and the Giver; the spirit and the Spirit. Looking at 1 Cor 7:40, would you be willing to think of Paul as having the "spirit [sic] of God"? From the heart, Ray |

167 | How many pronouns in the Hebrew? | 1 Kin 8:30 | Ray | 107879
Hi Searcher, I will write this as a question because I am still interested in knowing how the Hebrew reads for these passages. Thank you for pointing out that the new copyright for the NASB has 2 Chronicles 6:21 and1 Kings 8:30 as reading the same. That was not the case in the NASB l977 copyright that I still study from which has the Thee and Thou's. I would guess however that the Hebrew has five or six pronouns for Deity in 2 Chronicles 6:21. For a smooth reading while using the You pronouns, the NASB 1995 copyright only has the three. Does anyone have knowledge and access to the Hebrew manuscripts so that I can know how many pronouns are in the verses? From the heart, Ray |

168 | will pour out My (my) spirit?Who?What | Prov 1:23 | Ray | 107834
I would like to talk about the spirit of wisdom. Proverbs 1:20, "Wisdom shouts in the street, *She lifts her voice in the square; At the head of the noisy streets she cries out; At the entrance of the gates in the city, she utters her sayings:..." The writing style of the NASB leaves the *She that I starred in question, but the she should agree with the other "she" and "her" words. I think that a good verse to compare/contrast with Proverbs 1:23 would be Isaiah 44:3. Isaiah 44:3, "For I will pour out My *Spirit on your offspring, And My blessing on your descendants." I would put the Spirit that I *starred in lower case with the idea of pouring out of the spirit and blessing from the Spirit of God. Does that help us to understand the spirit of wisdom? What are your thoughts? From the heart, Ray |

169 | A question of pronouns | 1 Kin 8:30 | Ray | 107814
Is there anyone knowledgeable about Hebrew manuscripts that can tell me what leads translators to translate 1 Kings 8:29,30 and 2Chronicles 6:21 differently? I ask this question as one who counts pronouns of Deity, so it concerns the number of pronouns in the two verses. From the heart, Ray |

170 | Things of faith; are they understood? | 1 Cor 2:12 | Ray | 106977
Luke 2:51 says, "And He went down with them, and came to Nazareth; and He continued in subjection to them; and His mother treasured all these things in her heart." This verse in 1 Corinthians talks of "the things freely given to us by God." I have looked at the comparison of Luke 2:4-12 and 1 Corinthians 2:48-51 in a personal study. What can we learn together about the "things" of God from comparing these passages? From the heart, Ray |

171 | Child or child? Boy or boy? | Is 7:15 | Ray | 106825
Hi Steve or whomever, What does one say about the interpretation of the NKJ for this Immanuel? The NKJ has Isaiah 7:16, interpreted as the "Child" and Isaiah 8:4 as the "child". From the heart, Ray |

172 | Son of David?Son of Abraham?Seed? | Gen 17:7 | Ray | 106422
Who is this Prophet that came from Galilee? John 7:41and 52. Who is this Seed that should come? Galatians 3:19. Looking at John 7:42 and Galatians 3:17 can we see that the covenant was being ratified by God in Christ. Did Christ come from the Seed of David as well as the Seed of Abraham? Matthew 1:1, "The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son [Son, NKJ] of David, the son [Son, NKJ] of Abraham." From the heart, Ray |

173 | I pray Thee and then He will hear? :)) | 2 Chr 6:40 | Ray | 105522
The prayer of Solomon in 2 Chron 6:14-42 has the request that God hear from heaven. I connect the verses 2 Chron 6:40 with 7:14 with the idea of "I pray Thee" and "the I will hear from heaven". So my desire is to convince that the "I pray Thee" of NASB, 1977 or the "I beseech You" of the Amplified be accepted here. 2 Chronicles 6:40, "...let Thine eyes be open, and Thine ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place." 2 Chronicles 7:15, "Now My eyes shall be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place." From the heart, Ray |

174 | Is it necessarily a threat? | Matt 26:24 | Ray | 105519
Would someone knowledgeable in Greek (like Tim Moran) like to comment on this verse? I wonder if there is anything in the Greek that would tell us if the sentence deals with the feelings of Judas or not. From the heart, Ray |

175 | Do we know Him? Know His Son? | Job 28:28 | Ray | 105493
Proverbs 30:4, "Who has wrapped the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or His son's [Son's, NKJ] name? Surely you know? From the heart, Ray |
||||||
176 | "I pray Thee" Earnestly implore? | 2 Chr 6:40 | Ray | 105376
In the former 1977 copyright of the NASB this verse reads, "Now, O my God, I pray Thee..." This probably was changed in the 1995 version to make it sound less formal perhaps; perhaps for some other reason. My question is: how formal should we be when we talk to God? How much do we have to beseech or beg when we pray to Him? From the heart, Ray |

177 | Walking before Him; "Hear Thou..." | 2 Chr 6:39 | Ray | 105184
I noticed that there are nine places in the prayer of Solomon where it says "hear Thou". That is to say, if you also include 2 Chron 6:39 in that listing. I wonder if anyone familiar with Hebrew can tell me why this verse omits "Thou" when verse 21, 23, 25, etc. include it. I would point out also however, that I am using the old 1977 copyright of the NASB. One can use the King James in looking at verse 39. From the heart, Ray |

178 | Filled with living water or holy spirit? | Jer 31:25 | Ray | 104442
I am interested in the tenses of the various versions for this verse. NASB, " For I satisfy the weary ones and refresh [Lit. fill] everyone who languishes." Amplified, "For I will...I will replenish..." NKJ, "For I have satiated [Or, fully satisfied] the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul." Present tense, future tense, past tense. Are we filled, fully satisfied today? How does this verse relate to John 3:10 or John 7:38? From the heart, Ray |

179 | Are consistent renderings possible? | 2 Cor 11:31 | Ray | 104100
I have a question for Morant61 or any Greek student out there. I am considering 2 Cor 11:31 and Romans 9:5 where the Greek is translated "He who is" or "who is". 1) What are some other Scriptures with this rendering that we can look at to compare? 2) Can we be consistent in our renderings? 3) Can a consistent rendering help us to decide which manuscript to follow in a particular case? For instance, 2 Cor 11:31, NASB, does not include the word "Christ". 2 Cor 11:31, NASB, "The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, He who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying." 2 Cor 11:31, NKJ, "The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying." Romans 9:5, NASB, "...who is over all,..." Romans 9:5, NKJ, "...who is over all,..." From the heart, Ray |

180 | Do you know this One? | Acts 17:23 | Ray | 103495
Acts 17:23, NKJ, "for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you." The Interlinear Greek-English New Testament, Jay P. Green, Sr. editor has "This (One) I announce you." So my question is, "Do you know this One?" Acts 2:36, "This (Jesus) whom you crucified." Acts 17:3, "This (Jesus) whom I am proclaiming to you is the Christ." Acts 17:23, "This (One) I proclaim to you." The parentheses are mine for comparison/contrast. From the heart, Ray |
