41301 | Who's the rider in Rev.'s 6:2? | Rev 6:1 | jford1 | 61228
In Rev. 6:2, it speaks of a white horse with a rider with a bow and wearing a crown. My paster asked me the question if I know who that mistery rider is? I think it is Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, [Zeck. 6:11]. Is this true? And what are the other horses supposed to be?
41302 | The word "come!" is a call to action? | Rev 6:1 | dondee | 90427
My small-group leader and I dissagree about the contextual use of the word "come!" (as used in 9 translations. I contend that the context with which the word is used means "come and see" (as used in 6 other translations). John was being called to "see what was going to be" as with the previous chapters, and not the "creature" speaking to the horseman into action. I believe that all of the traslations are correct. That is the word "come" can be used in such a context as to mean "come and see or behold". Whereas it would not be correct to use the words "come and see" to mean calling one to action. |

41308 | Rev. 6:3 (bow) needs translation | Rev 6:2 | hankum | 194800
Regarding the word "bow" used in Revelation 6:2, the NASB and KJV with Strong's Dictionary states that the translation from the original Greek word (Strong's 5115) "toxon" is "bow", with the meaning of "(Apparently as the simplest fabric)". This contextual use of word "bow" is stated to be derived from the base word (Strong's 5088) "tikto" which is defined as; "to produce (from seed, as a mother, a plant, the earth, etc.) literal or figurative: bear, be born, bring forth, be delivered, be in travail." With Strong's definition, how is the word "bow" in the application of Revelation 6:2 supposed to be understood? It is obviously not referring to a bow as a weapon of battle. Clearly the use of the word "bow" is not limited to that of a bow, as in "bow and arrow". Hank
