Bible Question: This is just a concern of mine mainly because my wife and I went through a very difficult time of our finances awhile back and praise God He has brought us threw. At the time we were going through it seemed like that was all we would here from the pulpit was pay thites give offerrings. I believe that in some churches that the reson that is brought so much is because Pastors and churches have got away from whattithing and giving is for and have put more on building buildings and ministries and their on finanes instead of it being used for the needs of people. So when the thithes drop off they began to presure people to give more because they have not been good stewards.I know Pastors/preachers/and teaches should receive there what they have need from those they teach. What can someone else share with me on this subject that is mature and skillful in the word of God and rightly deviding the truth? |
Bible Answer: Look at acts 4:34 Acts 4:34 For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales Acts 4:35 and lay them at the apostles' feet, and they would be distributed to each as any had need and notice how it coincides with 2 cor 9 .. Cor 9:7 Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Now let us reason together here. James 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled); then it is peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle). [It is willing to] yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits; it is wholehearted and straightforward, impartial and unfeigned (free from doubts, wavering, and insincerity How can you be told on one hand that you are robbing God if you do not tithe and then say at the same time , give not out of necessity. It simply does not make sense.. Therefore it is clear, one command was under different conditions (or covenants) than the other. 2 Cor 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed; 2 Cor 9:9 as it is written, "HE SCATTERED ABROAD, HE GAVE TO THE POOR, HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ENDURES FOREVER Giving is purposed by God to serve the needs of His people the Church ..You give to the poor .. Here are two excellent places to write about tithing, and the instrument (or pen), who is Paul and the writer, who is the Holy Spirit makes no mention of tithing. I personally think tithing has no new covenant basis and it is being used to exploit people and bring them into condemnation when they can not live up to this standard, in many case it nullifies grace because people began to look at the tithe as a way to be blessed by God.. |
