Bible Note: I would agree that some believe that but I believe them to be wrong. A crucifixion on the Jewish sabbath would have caused a uproar and possible rebellion of the Jews. Certainly the Jews would not have participated as shown they did in scripture. The Sabbath runs from sun down Friday to sundown Saturday. Also because it was The Passover there would have been a Sabbath from sun down Thursday to sun down Friday. That convinces me Jesus was crucified before sun down Thursday and remained in the grave until Sunday. Thus 3 days and three nights in the grave. However tradition teaches Jesus was crucified before Sundown Fri and arose Sunday. To me that let's us a night short Thursday day, Sabbath night and day Saturday night and day arose If h had been crucified Wed. It would be Wednesday, Thursday night and day which was the The Passover Sabbath, Friday night and day which would be the weekly Sabbath and arose Sunday. That is the only way there would be three days and three nights. Most people miss the title of scripture of The Sabbath John 19:31. There is only one The Sabbath in Jewish culture it is the The Sabbath of the Passover. Many will try to refute using all kinds of fabricated explanations and that is okay. Make your own decision. What is important Jesus, innocent of all sin was crucified, His blood poured out as a perfect sacrifice for our sin, thus saving us. And He arose proving that death had no hold and all that would arise again in the resurrection. Some to eternal damnation and some to eternal heaven. John 3:16 tells to be saved we must believe. Do not let any concern over days and nights or other doctrines/traditions of man make you lose focus on that truth. The Blood of Jesus was the eternal perfect sacrifice for your sin and you must accept this to be saved. |
