Bible Question: Why was Jesus so often at odds with the Jewish sects of His time? From Jesus' views of the religious establishment of His time, is it possible to extrapolate what His views may likely be of the religious establishment of our time? --Hank |
Bible Answer: I think we are more like the Saducees today than the Pharisees. The Pharisees were very focused in their beliefs. They followed the traditions of the elders, believed in God's promises, and were looking for the Messiah. The Sadusees, on the other hand, didn't believe in the promises, didn't care about the bible, worked with the Roman government and were not looking for the Messiah. I think this describes the people of today more. So many people today could care less about religion but only about themselves. As with the Pharisees and the Sadusees a miracle could be done right in front of them and they wouldn't believe it. Jesus was at odds with them so much because they were being religious on the outside for and it was only for show because on the inside were full of nothing but self. They were wicked and they rejected the truth. I believe that He would of felt the same today as He did then. |
