Bible Question:
Yes. it does help using that analogue. Can you explain John 5:14, how the person who Jesus was talking to can sin no more? Does that me if a person sin , they immediately ask forgiveness therefor not sinning. Seedling |
Bible Answer: Hi Seedling, God bless you! You move quickly from the simple to the difficult! :-) Can I explain how that man, or us, can sin no more? All I can say is this: James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. We endure temptation, but do not sin. 1 Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. God protects us from "irresistable" temptations. All temptations are able to be resisted. I think (IMO) that Jesus wants to set the direction of our hearts, that we would not sin, even knowing that we are weak: Psalm 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. 14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. Seedling, God desires that we do not sin, but has made a provision for when we fail in our efforts: 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: Everyday I pray God keep me strong, and not sin. Temptations come, and I pray that He keeps me strong to resist, and that He gains the victory for me. Everyday I manage to sin, and I so look forward to the day when I am perfected in Him, in Christ Jesus, and am no longer in fallen flesh. The short answer, how can we not sin? In His power.
