Then the LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them:‘^aNo one shall defile himself for a dead person among his people, 2 ^aexcept for his relatives who are nearest to him, his mother, his father, his son, his daughter, and his brother, 3 also for his virgin sister who is near to him ¹because she has not had a husband; for her, he may defile himself. 4 He shall not defile himself as a ¹relative by marriage among his people, so as to profane himself. 5 ^aThey shall not shave any area on their heads bald, ^bnor shave off the edges of their beards, ^cnor make any cuts in their flesh. 6 They shall be holy to their God and ^anot profane the name of their God, because they present the offerings by fire ¹to the LORD, ^bthe food of their God; so they shall be holy. 7 ^aThey shall not take a woman who is a prostitute and ¹profaned, nor shall they take a woman divorced from her husband; for he is holy to his God. 8 You shall consecrate him, therefore, because he offers ^athe food of your God. He shall be holy to you; for I the LORD, who sanctifies you, am holy. 9 ^aAlso the daughter of any priest, if she profanes herself by prostitution, she profanes her father; she shall be burned with fire.

10 ‘The priest who is ¹highest among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured and ²who has been consecrated to wear the garments, ^ashall not ³uncover his head nor tear his clothes; 11 ^anor shall he approach any dead person, nor defile himself even for his father or his mother; 12 ^anor shall he leave the sanctuary nor profane the sanctuary of his God, for ^bthe consecration of the anointing oil of his God is on him; I am the LORD. 13 He shall take a wife in her virginity. 14 ^aA widow, or a divorced woman, or one who is profaned by prostitution, these he shall not take; but rather he is to ¹marry a virgin of his own people, 15 so that he will not profane his ¹children among his people; for I am the LORD who sanctifies him.’”

16 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 17 “Speak to Aaron, saying, ‘None of your ¹descendants throughout their generations who has an impairment shall approach to offer the ^afood of his God. 18 ^aFor no one who has an impairment shall approach: a man who is blind, or one who limps, or one who has a ^bslit nose, or one with any conspicuous feature, 19 or someone who has a broken foot or broken hand, 20 or a contorted back, or one who is a dwarf, or has a spot in his eye, or a festering rash or scabs, or ^acrushed testicles. 21 No man among the ¹descendants of Aaron the priest who has an impairment is to come forward to offer the LORD’S offerings by fire; since he has an impairment, he shall not come forward to offer ^athe food of his God. 22 He may eat ^athe food of his God, both of the most holy and of the holy, 23 only he shall not come up to the veil or approach the altar, since he has an impairment, so that he does not profane My sanctuaries. For I am the LORD who sanctifies them.’” 24 So Moses spoke to Aaron and to his sons and to all the sons of Israel.

10 ‘The priest who is the highest among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured and ¹who has been consecrated to wear the garments, ^ashall not ²uncover his head nor tear his clothes; 11 ^anor shall he approach any dead person, nor defile himself even for his father or his mother; 12 ^anor shall he go out of the sanctuary nor profane the sanctuary of his God, for ^bthe consecration of the anointing oil of his God is on him; I am the LORD. 13 He shall take a wife in her virginity. 14 ^aA widow, or a divorced woman, or one who is profaned by harlotry, these he may not take; but rather he is to ¹marry a virgin of his own people, 15 so that he will not profane his ¹offspring among his people; for I am the LORD who sanctifies him.’”

16 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 17 “Speak to Aaron, saying, ‘No man of your ¹offspring throughout their generations who has a defect shall approach to offer the ^afood of his God. 18 ^aFor no one who has a defect shall approach: a blind man, or a lame man, or he who has a ^1bdisfigured face, or any deformed limb, 19 or a man who has a broken foot or broken hand, 20 or a hunchback or a dwarf, or one who has a ¹defect in his eye or eczema or scabs or ^acrushed testicles. 21 No man among the ¹descendants of Aaron the priest who has a defect is to come near to offer the LORD’S offerings by fire; since he has a defect, he shall not come near to offer ^athe food of his God. 22 He may eat ^athe food of his God, both of the most holy and of the holy, 23 only he shall not go in to the veil or come near the altar because he has a defect, so that he will not profane My sanctuaries. For I am the LORD who sanctifies them.’” 24 So Moses spoke to Aaron and to his sons and to all the sons of Israel.

Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them:‘^aNo one shall defile himself for a dead person among his people, 2 ^aexcept for his ¹blood relatives who are nearest to him, his mother and his father and his son and his daughter and his brother, 3 also for his virgin sister, who is near to him ¹because she has had no husband; for her he may defile himself. 4 He shall not defile himself as a ¹relative by marriage among his people, and so profane himself. 5 ^aThey shall not make any baldness on their heads ^bnor shave off the edges of their beards ^cnor make any cuts in their flesh. 6 They shall be holy to their God and ^anot profane the name of their God, for they bring near the offerings ¹to Yahweh by fire, ^bthe food of their God; so they shall be holy. 7 ^aThey shall not take a woman who is profaned by harlotry, nor shall they take a woman divorced from her husband; for he is holy to his God. 8 Therefore, you shall set him apart as holy, for he brings near ^athe food of your God; he shall be holy to you; for I Yahweh, who makes you holy, am holy. 9 ^aAlso the daughter of any priest, if she profanes herself by harlotry, she profanes her father; she shall be burned with fire.

10 ‘And the priest who is the highest among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured and ¹who has been ordained to wear the garments, ^ashall not ²uncover his head nor tear his clothes; 11 ^anor shall he approach any dead person nor defile himself even for his father or his mother; 12 ^anor shall he go out of the sanctuary nor profane the sanctuary of his God, for ^bthe dedication of the anointing oil of his God is on him; I am Yahweh. 13 And he shall take a wife in her virginity. 14 ^aA widow or a divorced woman or one who is profaned by harlotry, these he may not take; but rather he shall take a virgin of his own people as a wife, 15 so that he will not profane his seed among his people; for I am Yahweh who makes him holy.’”

16 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 17 “Speak to Aaron, saying, ‘No man of your seed throughout their generations who has a defect shall come near to offer the ^afood of his God. 18 ^aFor no one who has a defect shall come near: a blind man or a lame man or he who has a ^1bdisfigured face or any deformed limb, 19 or a man who has a broken foot or broken hand, 20 or a hunchback or a dwarf, or one who has a ¹defect in his eye or eczema or scabs or ^acrushed testicles. 21 No man among the seed of Aaron the priest who has a defect shall approach to bring near the offerings to Yahweh by fire; since he has a defect, he shall not approach to bring near ^athe food of his God. 22 He may eat ^athe food of his God, both of the most holy and of the holy, 23 only he shall not go in to the veil or approach the altar because he has a defect, so that he will not profane My sanctuaries. For I am Yahweh who makes them holy.’” 24 So Moses spoke to Aaron and to his sons and to all the sons of Israel.

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them:‘^aNo one shall defile himself that is, become ceremonially unclean for the dead among his people by touching a corpse or assisting in preparing it for burial, 2 ^aexcept for his relatives who are nearest to him, his mother, his father, his son, his daughter, and his brother, 3 also his virgin sister, who is near to him because she has had no husband; for her he may become unclean. 4 He shall not become unclean as a relative by marriage among his people, and so profane himself. 5 ^aThe priests ¹shall ^bnot shave their heads, nor shave off the edges of their beards, nor ^cmake any cuts in their body. 6 They shall be holy to their God and ^anot profane the name of their God; for they present the offerings by fire to the LORD, ^bthe food of their God; so they shall be holy. 7 ^aThey shall not take as a wife a woman who is a prostitute, nor a woman who is divorced from her husband; for the priest is holy to his God. 8 You shall consecrate him, therefore, for he offers ^athe food of your God; he shall be holy to you; for I the LORD, who sanctifies you, am holy. 9 ^aThe daughter of any priest who profanes herself by prostitution profanes her father; she shall be burned in fire. Josh 7:15, 25

10 ‘But he who is the high priest among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured and who has been consecrated to wear the sacred garments, ^ashall not uncover his head nor tear his clothes in mourning, 11 ^anor shall he approach any dead person, nor defile himself by doing so, even for his father or for his mother; 12 ^anor shall he go out of the sanctuary nor profane (make ceremonially unclean) the sanctuary of his God, for ^bthe consecration of the anointing oil of his God is on him; I am the LORD. 13 He shall take a wife in her virginity. 14 ^aHe may not marry a widow or a divorced woman or one who is profaned by prostitution, but he is to marry a virgin from his own people, 1+@Tim 3:2-7; Titus 1:7-9 15 so that he will not profane or dishonor his children among his people; for I am the LORD who sanctifies the high priest.’”

16 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 17 “Say to Aaron, ‘Throughout their generations none of your descendants who has any physical defect shall approach the altar to present the ^afood of his God. 18 ^aFor no man who has a defect shall approach God’s altar as a priest: no man who is blind or lame, or who has a ^bdisfigured face, or any deformed limb, 19 or a man who has a broken foot or a broken hand, 20 or a hunchback or a dwarf, or one who has a defect in his eye or eczema or scabs or ^acrushed testicles. 21 No man among the descendants of Aaron the priest who has a physical defect and is disfigured or deformed is to approach the altar to present the offerings of the LORD by fire. He has a defect; he shall not approach the altar to present ^athe food of his God. 22 He may eat ^athe food of his God, both of the most holy and of the holy things, 23 but he shall not go within the veil or approach the altar of incense, because he has a defect, so that he will not profane My sanctuaries; for I am the LORD who sanctifies them.’” Heb 7:28 24 So Moses spoke to Aaron and to his sons, and to all the Israelites.
