Now I raised my eyes again and looked, and behold, ^afour chariots were going out from between the two mountains; and the mountains were bronze mountains. 2 With the first chariot were ^ared horses, with the second chariot ^bblack horses, 3 with the third chariot ^awhite horses, and with the fourth chariot strong ^bspotted horses. 4 So I responded and said to the angel who was speaking with me, “^aWhat are these, my lord?” 5 The angel replied to me, “These are the ^afour spirits of heaven, going out after taking their stand before the Lord of all the earth, 6 with one of which the black horses are going out to the ^anorth country; and the white ones are to go out after them, while the spotted ones are to go out to the ^bsouth country.” 7 When the strong ones went out, they ¹were eager to go to ^2apatrol the earth. And He said, “Go, ³patrol the earth.” So they ⁴patrolled the earth. 8 Then He called out to me and spoke to me, saying, “See, those who are going to the land of the north have ^1aappeased My wrath in the land of the north.”

9 The ^aword of the LORD also came to me, saying, 10 “^aTake an offering from the exiles, from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah; and you shall go the same day and enter the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah, where they have arrived from Babylon.

11 Also take silver and gold, make an ornate ^acrown, and set it on the head of ^bJoshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. 12 Then say to him, ‘The LORD of armies says this: “Behold, there is a Man whose name is ^1aBranch, for He will ^2bbranch out from where He is; and He will ^cbuild the temple of the LORD. 13 Yes, it is He who will build the temple of the LORD, and He who will ^abear the majesty and sit and ^brule on His throne. So He will be a ^cpriest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two ¹offices.”’ 14 Now the ^acrown will become a reminder in the temple of the LORD to Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and ¹Hen the son of Zephaniah. 15 ^aThose who are far away will come and ¹build the temple of the LORD.” Then you will ^bknow that the LORD of armies has sent me to you. And it will take place if you completely ^cobey ²the LORD your God.

Then I lifted up my eyes again and saw, and behold, ^afour chariots were coming forth from between the two mountains; and the mountains were bronze mountains. 2 With the first chariot were ^ared horses, with the second chariot ^bblack horses, 3 with the third chariot ^awhite horses, and with the fourth chariot ^bdappled horses—all of them mighty. 4 Then I answered and said to the angel who was speaking with me, “^aWhat are these, my lord?” 5 And the angel answered and said to me, “These are the ^afour spirits of heaven, going forth after standing before the Lord of all the earth, 6 with one of which the black horses are going forth to the ^anorth country; and the white ones go forth after them, and the dappled ones go forth to the ^bsouth country. 7 Now the mighty ones went out, and they sought to go to ^1apatrol the earth.” And He said, “Go, ²patrol the earth.” So they ³patrolled the earth. 8 Then He cried out to me and spoke to me saying, “See, those who are going to the land of the north have ^acaused My Spirit to have rest in the land of the north.”

9 And the ^aword of Yahweh came to me, saying, 10 “^aTake an offering from the exiles, from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah; and you come the same day and come into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah, where they have come from Babylon. 11 And take silver and gold, make an ornate ^acrown, and set it on the head of ^bJoshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. 12 Then you will say to him, ‘Thus says Yahweh of hosts, “Behold, a man whose name is ^1aBranch, and He will ^2bbranch out from where He is; and He will ^cbuild the temple of Yahweh. 13 Indeed, it is He who will build the temple of Yahweh, and He who will ^abear the splendor and sit and ^brule on His throne. Thus, He will be a ^cpriest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two ¹offices.”’ 14 Now the ^acrown will become a memorial in the temple of Yahweh to Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and ¹Hen the son of Zephaniah. 15 ^aAnd those who are far off will come and ¹build the temple of Yahweh.” Then you will ^bknow that Yahweh of hosts has sent me to you. And it will happen if you utterly ^clisten to the voice of Yahweh your God.

Now again I looked up, and ^1afour chariots were coming out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of firm, immovable bronze (divine judgment) . 2 The first chariot had ^ared horses (war, bloodshed) , the second chariot had ^bblack horses (famine, death) , Rev 6:4-6 3 the third chariot had ^awhite horses (victory) , and the fourth chariot had strong ^bdappled horses (death through judgment) . Rev 6:2, 8 4 Then I said to the angel who was speaking with me, “^aWhat are these, my lord?” 5 The angel answered me, “These are the ^afour spirits of the heavens, which go out after presenting themselves before the Lord of all the earth, Ps 104:4; Matt 24:31 6 with the chariot with the black horses going toward the ^anorth country; then the one with the white horses follows after them because there are two northern powers to overcome, and the chariot with the dappled horses goes toward the ^bsouth country.” 7 When the strong horses went out, they were eager to ^apatrol the earth. And the LORD said, “Go, patrol the earth.” So they patrolled the earth watching and protecting it. 8 Then He called out to me and said to me, “See, those who are going to the north country have ^aquieted My Spirit of wrath in the north country.”

9 The ^aword of the LORD also came to me, saying, 10 “^aTake an offering from the exiles, from Heldai, from Tobijah, and from Jedaiah as representatives; and you go the same day and enter the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah, where they have arrived from Babylon.

11 Take silver and gold from them, and make an ornate ^acrown and set it on the head of ^bJoshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. 12 Then say to Joshua, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, “Behold (look, keep in sight, watch) , a Man (Messiah) whose name is ^aBranch, for He shall ^bbranch out from His place (Israel, the Davidic line) ; and He shall ^cbuild the ultimate temple of the LORD. Is 4:2; Jer 23:5; 33:15; Zech 3:8 13 Yes, you are to build a temple of the LORD, but it is He who shall build the ultimate temple of the LORD, and He shall ^abear the honor and majesty as the only begotten of the Father and sit and ^brule on His throne. And He shall be a ^1cPriest on His throne, and the counsel of peace shall be between the two offices Priest and King.”’ John 1:14; 17:5; Heb 2:9 14 Now the ^acrown shall become a reminder in the temple of the LORD to Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and Hen the son of Zephaniah. Matt 10:41 15 And ^athose who are far away will come and help build the temple of the LORD.” Then you shall ^bknow without any doubt that the LORD of hosts sent me (Zechariah) to you. And it will come about if you will diligently ^cobey the voice of the LORD your God.
