God’s People Saved

A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, according to 1Shigionoth.

2 LORD, I have aheard 1the report about You, and 2I was bafraid.LORD, crevive dYour work in the midst of the years,In the midst of the years make it known. In anger remember 3emercy.
3 God comes from aTeman,And the Holy One from Mount bParan.SelahHis csplendor covers the heavens,And the dearth is full of His praise.4 His aradiance is like the sunlight; He has rays flashing from His hand,And the hiding of His bmight is there.5 Before Him goes aplague,And bplague comes forth 1after Him.6 He stood and caused the earth to shudder; He looked and acaused the nations to jump.Yes, the everlasting mountains were shattered,The ancient hills 1collapsed.His paths are beverlasting.7 I saw the tents of Cushan under adistress,The tent curtains of the land of bMidian were trembling.
8 Did the LORD rage against the arivers,Or was Your anger against the rivers,Or was Your rage against the bsea,That You crode on Your horses,On Your dchariots of salvation?9 You removed Your abow from its holder,The arrows of Your word were 1sworn.SelahYou bdivided the earth with rivers.10 The mountains saw You and quaked; The downpour of waters swept by.The deep araised its voice,It lifted high its hands.11 aSun and moon stood in their lofty places; They went away at the blight of Your arrows,At the radiance of Your flashing spear.12 In indignation You amarched through the earth; In anger You 1btrampled the nations.13 You went forth for the asalvation of Your people,For the salvation of Your banointed. You smashed the chead of the house of evilTo uncover him from 1foot to neck.Selah14 You pierced with his aown 1arrowsThe head of his 2leaders.They bstormed in to scatter 3us;Their arrogance was like thoseWho cdevour the oppressed in secret.15 You atrampled on the sea with Your horses,On the bfoam of many waters.
16 I heard, and my 1inner parts atrembled; At the sound, my lips quivered.Decay enters my bbones,And in my place I tremble;Because I 2must cwait quietly for the day of distress,3For the dpeople to arise who will attack us.17 Even if the afig tree does not blossom,And there is no 1fruit on the vines,If the yield of the bolive fails,And the fields produce no food,Even if the cflock disappears from the fold,And there are dno cattle in the stalls,18 Yet I will atriumph in the LORD,I will brejoice in the cGod of my salvation.19 The Lord 1GOD is my astrength,And bHe has made my feet like deer’s feet,And has me walk on my chigh places. For the choir director, on my stringed instruments.
God’s Salvation of His People

A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, set to 1wild and enthusiastic music.

2 O LORD, I have aheard the report about You and I bfear.O LORD, crevive dYour work in the midst of the years,In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath earnestly eremember compassion and love.
3 God approaching from Sinai comes from aTeman (Edom) ,And the Holy One from 1Mount bParan.Selah 2(pause, and calmly think of that). His csplendor and majesty covers the heavensAnd the dearth is full of His praise.4 His abrightness is like the sunlight; He has bright rays flashing from His hand,And there in the sunlike splendor is the hiding place of His bpower.5 Before Him goes the apestilence of judgment as in Egypt,And the burning bplague of condemnation follows at His feet as in Sennacherib’s army. Ex 7:2-4; 2+@Kin 19:32-356 He stood and measured the earth; He looked and astartled the nations,Yes, the eternal mountains were shattered,The ancient hills bowed low and collapsed. His ways are beternal.7 I Habakkuk, in my vision saw the tents of Cushan under adistress; The tent curtains of the land of bMidian were trembling.
8 Did the LORD rage against the arivers,Or was Your anger against the rivers,Or was Your wrath against the Red bSea,That You crode on Your horses,On Your dchariots of salvation?9 Your abow was made bare; The rods of chastisement were sworn.Selah (pause, calmly think of that). You bsplit the earth with rivers bringing waters to dry places. Ex 17:6; Num 20:1110 The mountains saw You and they trembled and writhed as if in pain; The downpour of waters swept by as a deluge. The deep auttered its voice and raged,It lifted its hands high.11 The asun and moon stood in their places as before Joshua; They went away at the blight of Your swift arrows,At the radiance and gleam of Your glittering spear. Josh 10:12, 1312 In indignation You amarched through the earth; In anger You btrampled and threshed the nations.13 You went forth for the asalvation of Your people,For the salvation and rescue of Your banointed people Israel. You struck the 1chead from the house of the wickedTo lay him open from the thigh to the neck.Selah (pause, and calmly think of that).14 With the enemy’s aown spears, You piercedThe head of his hordes. They bstormed out to scatter us,Rejoicing like thoseWho secretly cdevour the oppressed of Israel.15 You have atrampled on the sea with Your horses,On the bsurge of many waters. Ex 15:8
16 I heard and my whole inner self atrembled; My lips quivered at the sound.Decay and rottenness enter my bbones,And I tremble in my place.Because I must cwait quietly for the day of distress,For the dpeople to arise who will invade and attack us.17 Though the afig tree does not blossomAnd there is no fruit on the vines,Though the yield of the bolive failsAnd the fields produce no food,Though the cflock is cut off from the foldAnd there are dno cattle in the stalls,18 Yet I will choose to arejoice in the LORD;I will choose to bshout in exultation in the victorious cGod of my salvation! Rom 8:3719 The Lord GOD is my astrength my source of courage, my invincible army;bHe has made my feet steady and sure like hinds’ feetAnd makes me walk forward with spiritual confidence on my 1chigh places of challenge and responsibility. For the choir director, on my stringed instruments.
Yet I Will Exult in Yahweh

A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, according to 1Shigionoth.

2 O Yahweh, I have aheard 1the report about You, and 2I bfear.O Yahweh, crevive dYour work in the midst of the years; In the midst of the years make it known; In rage remember ecompassion.
3 God comes from aTeman,And the Holy One from Mount bParan.Selah.His csplendor covers the heavens,And the dearth is full of His praise.4 His abrightness is like the sunlight; He has rays flashing from His hand,And there is the hiding of His bstrength.5 Before Him goes apestilence,And bplague comes 1after Him.6 He stood and 1measured out the earth; He looked and astartled the nations. So the perpetual mountains were shattered; The ancient hills 2collapsed.His ways are beverlasting.7 I saw the tents of Cushan under awickedness; The tent curtains of the land of bMidian were trembling.
8 Did Yahweh’s fury burn against the arivers,Or was Your anger against the rivers,Or was Your wrath against the bsea,That You crode on Your horses,On Your dchariots of salvation?9 Your abow was made bare;Rods were sworn unto battle by word.Selah.You bsplit the earth with rivers.10 The mountains saw You and writhed; The downpour of waters passed by.The deep agave forth its voice; It lifted high its hands.11 aSun and moon stood in their lofty places; They went away at the blight of Your arrows,At the brightness of Your flashing spear.12 In indignation You amarched through the earth; In anger You 1btrampled the nations.13 You went forth for the asalvation of Your people,For salvation with Your banointed. You crushed the chead of the house of the wickedTo lay him bare from 1thigh to neck.Selah.14 You pierced with his aown sharpened rodsThe head of his 1throngs.They bstormed in to scatter 2us;Their exultation was like thoseWho cdevour the afflicted in secret.15 You atread on the sea with Your horses,On the bsurge of many waters.
16 I heard, and my 1inward parts atrembled; At the sound my lips tingled.Decay enters my bbones,And in my place I tremble.Because I must cwait quietly for the day of distress,2For the dpeople to arise who will invade us.17 Though the afig tree should not blossomAnd there be no produce on the vines,Though the yield of the bolive should failAnd the fields yield no food,Though the cflock should be cut off from the foldAnd there be dno cattle in the stalls,18 Yet I will aexult in Yahweh;I will brejoice in the cGod of my salvation.19 Yahweh, the Lord, is my 1astrength,And bHe has set my feet like hinds’ feetAnd makes me tread on my chigh places.2For the choir director, on my stringed instruments.
