The word of the LORD which came to ^aHosea the son of Beeri, during the days of ^bUzziah, ^cJotham, ^dAhaz, and ^eHezekiah, kings of Judah, and during the days of ^fJeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

2 When the LORD first spoke through Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea, “^aGo, take for yourself a wife ¹inclined to infidelity, and children of infidelity; for ^bthe land commits flagrant infidelity, ²abandoning the LORD.” 3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and ^abore him a son. 4 And the LORD said to him, “Name him ^aJezreel; for in just a little while ^bI will ¹punish the house of Jehu for the bloodshed of Jezreel, and ^cI will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel. 5 On that day I will ^abreak the bow of Israel in the ^bValley of Jezreel.”

6 Then she conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. And ¹the LORD said to him, “Name her ²Lo-ruhamah, for I will no longer ^atake pity on the house of Israel, that I would ever forgive them. 7 But I will take ^apity on the house of Judah and ^bsave them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by ^cbow, sword, battle, horses, or horsemen.”

8 When she had weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived and gave birth to a son. 9 And ¹the LORD said, “Name him ²Lo-ammi, because you are not My people, and I am not ³your God.”

2 When the LORD first spoke through Hosea, the LORD said to him, “^aGo, take for yourself a ¹wife of prostitution and have children of her prostitution; for ^bthe land commits great acts of prostitution by ²not following the LORD.” 3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and ^abore him a son. 4 And the LORD said to him, “Name him ^aJezreel; for yet in a little while ^bI will avenge the blood that was shed in the Valley of Jezreel and inflict the punishment for it on the house of ¹Jehu, and ^cI will put an end to the kingdom of the ²house of Israel. 2+@Kin 10:1-11 5 On that day I will ^abreak the bow of the military power of Israel in the ^bValley of Jezreel.”

6 Then Gomer conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. And the LORD said to Hosea, “Name her Lo-Ruhamah (not shown mercy) , for I will no longer ^ahave mercy on the house of Israel, that I would ever forgive them. 7 But I will have ^amercy on the house of Judah and will ^brescue them by the LORD their God, and will ¹not rescue them by ^cbow, sword, war, horses, or horsemen.” Is 31:8; 37:33-35

8 Now when Gomer had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, she conceived and gave birth to a son. 9 And the LORD said, “Name him Lo-Ammi (not my people) , for you are not My people and I am not your God.”

6 Then she conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. And ¹Yahweh said to him, “Name her ²Lo-ruhamah, for I will no longer ^ahave compassion on the house of Israel, that I would ever forgive them. 7 But I will have ^acompassion on the house of Judah and ^bsave them by Yahweh their God, and I will not save them by ^cbow, sword, battle, horses, or horsemen.”

8 Then she weaned Lo-ruhamah. And she conceived and gave birth to a son. 9 And ¹Yahweh said, “Name him ²Lo-ammi, for you are not My people, and I am not ³your God.”
