Let ^alove of the brethren continue. 2 Do not neglect to ^ashow hospitality to strangers, for by this some have ^bentertained angels without knowing it. 3 ^aRemember ^bthe prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body. 4 ^aMarriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; ^bfor fornicators and adulterers God will judge. 5 Make sure that your character is ^afree from the love of money, ^bbeing content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “^cI WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,” 6 so that we confidently say,“^aTHE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID.WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?”

7 Remember ^athose who led you, who spoke ^bthe word of God to you; and considering the ¹result of their conduct, ^cimitate their faith. 8 ^aJesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. 9 ^aDo not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to ^bbe strengthened by grace, not by ^cfoods, ^dthrough which those who ¹were so occupied were not benefited. 10 We have an altar ^afrom which those ^bwho serve the ¹tabernacle have no right to eat. 11 For ^athe bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. 12 Therefore Jesus also, ^athat He might sanctify the people ^bthrough His own blood, suffered ^coutside the gate. 13 So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, ^abearing His reproach. 14 For here ^awe do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking ^bthe city which is to come.

15 ^aThrough Him then, let us continually offer up a ^bsacrifice of praise to God, that is, ^cthe fruit of lips that ¹give thanks to His name. 16 And do not neglect doing good and ^asharing, for ^bwith such sacrifices God is pleased.

17 ^aObey your leaders and submit to them, for ^bthey keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. ¹Let them do this with joy and not ²with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.

18 ^aPray for us, for we are sure that we have a ^bgood conscience, desiring to conduct ourselves honorably in all things. 19 And I urge you all the more to do this, ^aso that I may be restored to you the sooner.

20 Now ^athe God of peace, who ^bbrought up from the dead the ^cgreat Shepherd of the sheep ¹through ^dthe blood of the ^eeternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, 21 ^aequip you in every good thing to do His will, ^bworking in us that ^cwhich is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, ^dto whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

22 But ^aI urge you, ^bbrethren, ¹bear with ²this ^cword of exhortation, for ^dI have written to you briefly. 23 ¹Take notice that ^aour brother Timothy has been released, with whom, if he comes soon, I will see you. 24 Greet ^aall of your leaders and all the ^1bsaints. Let ^alove of your fellow believers continue. 2 Do not neglect to ^aextend hospitality to strangers especially among the family of believers—being friendly, cordial, and gracious, sharing the comforts of your home and doing your part generously, for by this some have ^bentertained angels without knowing it. Gen 18:1-8; 19:1-3; Judg 6:11-24; 13:6-20 3 ^aRemember ^bthose who are in prison, as if you were their fellow prisoner, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body and subject to physical suffering. 4 ^aMarriage is to be held in honor among all that is, regarded as something of great value, and the marriage bed undefiled by immorality or by any sexual sin; ^bfor God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. 5 Let your character your moral essence, your inner nature be ^afree from the love of money shun greed—be financially ethical, ^bbeing content with what you have; for He has said, “^cI WILL NEVER under any circumstances DESERT YOU nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will ^dI in any degree leave you helpless, NOR WILL I FORSAKE or LET YOU DOWN or RELAX MY HOLD ON YOU assuredly not!” Josh 1:5 6 So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently say,“^aTHE LORD IS MY HELPER in time of need, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID.WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?” Ps 27:1; 118:6

7 Remember ^ayour leaders for it was they who brought you ^bthe word of God; and consider the result of their conduct the outcome of their godly lives, and ^cimitate their faith their conviction that God exists and is the Creator and Ruler of all things, the Provider of eternal salvation through Christ, and imitate their reliance on God with absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness. 8 ^aJesus Christ is eternally changeless, always the same yesterday and today and forever. 9 ^aDo not be carried away by diverse and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to ^bbe established and strengthened by grace and not by ^cfoods rules of diet and ritualistic meals, ^dwhich bring no benefit or spiritual growth to those who observe them. 10 We have an altar ^afrom which those ^bwho serve the tabernacle (sacred tent) have no right to eat. 11 For ^athe bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. Lev 16:27 12 Therefore Jesus also suffered and died ^aoutside the city gate so ^bthat He might sanctify and set apart for God as holy the people who believe ^cthrough the shedding of His own blood. 13 So, let us go out to Him outside the ¹camp, ^abearing His contempt the disgrace and shame that He had to suffer. Lev 16:27 14 For here ^awe have no lasting city, but we are seeking ^bthe city which is to come.

15 ^aThrough Him, therefore, let us at all times offer up to God a ^bsacrifice of praise, which is ^cthe fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name. Lev 7:12; Is 57:19; Hos 14:2 16 Do not neglect to do good, to ^acontribute to the needy of the church as an expression of fellowship, for ^bsuch sacrifices are always pleasing to God.

17 ^aObey your spiritual leaders and submit to them recognizing their authority over you, for ^bthey are keeping watch over your souls and continually guarding your spiritual welfare as those who will give an account of their stewardship of you. Let them do this with joy and not with grief and groans, for this would be of no benefit to you.

18 Keep ^apraying for us, for we are convinced that we have a ^bgood conscience, seeking to conduct ourselves honorably that is, with moral courage and personal integrity in all things. 19 And I urge all of you to pray earnestly, ^aso that I may be restored to you soon.

20 Now may ^athe God of peace the source of serenity and spiritual well-being who ^bbrought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the ^cgreat Shepherd of the sheep, through ^dthe blood that sealed and ratified the ^eeternal covenant, Is 55:3; 63:11; Ezek 37:26; Zech 9:11 21 ^aequip you with every good thing to carry out His will and strengthen you making you complete and perfect as you ought to be, ^baccomplishing in us that ^cwhich is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, ^dto whom be the glory forever and ever. 22 ^aI call on you, ^bbrothers and sisters, listen patiently to this ^cmessage of exhortation and encouragement, for ^dI have written to you briefly. 23 Notice that ^aour brother Timothy has been released from prison.
