Now ^aaccept the one who is ^bweak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions. 2 ^aOne person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is ^bweak eats vegetables only. 3 The one who eats is not to ^aregard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to ^bjudge the one who eats, for God has ^caccepted him. 4 ^aWho are you to judge the ¹servant of another? To his own ²master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

5 ^aOne person ¹regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be ^bfully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, ¹does so for the Lord, for he ^agives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God. 7 For not one of us ^alives for himself, and not one dies for himself; 8 for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore ^awhether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end ^aChrist died and lived again, that He might be ^bLord both of the dead and of the living.

10 But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you ^aregard your brother with contempt? For ^bwe will all stand before the judgment seat of God. 11 For it is written,“^aAS I LIVE, SAYS THE LORD, ^bEVERY KNEE SHALL BOW TO ME,AND EVERY TONGUE SHALL ¹GIVE PRAISE TO GOD.” 12 So then ^aeach one of us will give an account of himself to God.

13 Therefore let us not ^ajudge one another anymore, but rather determine this—^bnot to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s way. 14 I know and am convinced ¹in the Lord Jesus that ^anothing is unclean in itself; but to him who ^bthinks anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 For if because of food your brother is hurt, you are no longer ^awalking according to love. ^bDo not destroy with your food him for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore ^ado not let what is for you a good thing be ¹spoken of as evil; 17 for the kingdom of God ^ais not eating and drinking, but righteousness and ^bpeace and ^cjoy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For he who in this way ^aserves Christ is ^bacceptable to God and approved by men. 19 So then ¹we ^apursue the things which make for peace and the ^bbuilding up of one another. 20 ^aDo not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. ^bAll things indeed are clean, but ^cthey are evil for the man who eats ¹and gives offense. 21 ^aIt is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother stumbles. 22 The faith which you have, have ¹as your own conviction before God. Happy is he who ^adoes not condemn himself in what he approves. 23 But ^ahe who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.

Happy is the one who ^adoes not condemn himself in what he approves. 23 But ^athe one who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.

As for the ¹one whose faith is ^aweak, ^baccept him into your fellowship, but not for the purpose of quarreling over his opinions. 2 ^aOne man’s faith permits him to eat everything, while the ^bweak believer eats only vegetables to avoid eating ritually unclean meat or something previously considered unclean. 3 The one who eats everything is not to ^alook down on the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat must not ^bcriticize or pass judgment on the one who eats everything, for God has ^caccepted him. 4 ^aWho are you to judge the servant of another? Before his own master he stands approved or falls out of favor. And he who serves the Master—the Lord will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

5 ^aOne person regards one day as better or more important than another, while another regards every day the same as any other. Let everyone be ^bfully convinced (assured, satisfied) in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord. He who eats, eats for the Lord, since he ^agives thanks to God; while he who abstains, abstains for the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 None of us ^alives for himself for his own benefit, but for the Lord, and none of us dies for himself but for the Lord. 8 If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. So then, ^awhether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For ^aChrist died and lived again for this reason, that He might be ^bLord of both the dead and the living.

10 But you, why do you criticize your brother? Or you again, why do you look down on your believing brother or ^aregard him with contempt? For ^bwe will all stand before the judgment seat of God who alone is judge. 11 For it is written in Scripture,“^aAS I LIVE, SAYS THE LORD, ^bEVERY KNEE SHALL BOW TO ME,AND EVERY TONGUE SHALL GIVE PRAISE TO GOD.” Is 45:23 12 So then, ^aeach of us will give an account of himself to God.

13 Then let us not ^acriticize one another anymore, but rather determine this—^bnot to put an obstacle or a stumbling block or a source of temptation in another believer’s way. 14 I know and am convinced as one in the Lord Jesus that ^anothing is unclean ritually defiled, and unholy in itself; but nonetheless ^bit is unclean to anyone who thinks it is unclean. 15 If your brother is being hurt or offended because of food that you insist on eating, you are no longer ^awalking in love toward him. ^bDo not let what you eat destroy and spiritually harm one for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore ^ado not let what is a good thing for you because of your freedom to choose be spoken of as evil by someone else; 17 for the kingdom of God ^ais not a matter of eating and drinking what one likes, but of righteousness and ^bpeace and ^cjoy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For the one who ^aserves Christ in this way recognizing that food choice is secondary is ^bacceptable to God and is approved by men. 19 So then, let us ^apursue with enthusiasm the things which make for peace and the ^bbuilding up of one another things which lead to spiritual growth. 20 ^aDo not, for the sake of food, tear down the work of God. ^bAll things indeed are ceremonially clean, but ^cthey are wrong for the person who eats and offends another’s conscience in the process. 21 ^aIt is good to do the right thing and not eat meat or drink wine, or do anything that offends your brother and weakens him spiritually. 22 The faith which you have that gives you freedom of choice, have as your own conviction before God just keep it between yourself and God, seeking His will. Happy is he who ^ahas no reason to condemn himself for what he approves. 23 But ^ahe who is uncertain about eating a particular thing is condemned if he eats, because he is not acting from faith. Whatever is not from faith is sin whatever is done with doubt is sinful.
