Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to Aaron and say to him, ‘When you ¹mount the lamps, the seven lamps will ^agive light in the front of the lampstand.’” 3 Aaron therefore did so; he ¹mounted its lamps at the front of the lampstand, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. 4 ^aNow this was the workmanship of the lampstand, hammered work of gold; from its base to its flowers it was hammered work; ^baccording to the pattern which the LORD had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.

5 Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 6 “Take the Levites from among the sons of Israel and ^acleanse them. 7 Thus you shall do to them, for their ¹cleansing: sprinkle ²purifying ^awater on them, and let them ^3buse a razor over their whole ⁴body and ^cwash their clothes, and they will be clean. 8 Then let them take a ¹bull with ^aits grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil; and a second ²bull you shall take for a sin offering. 9 So ^ayou shall present the Levites before the tent of meeting. ^bYou shall also assemble the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, 10 and present the Levites before the LORD; and the sons of Israel ^ashall lay their hands on the Levites. 11 Aaron then shall ¹present the Levites before the LORD as a ^awave offering from the sons of Israel, that they may ²qualify to perform the service of the LORD. 12 Now ^athe Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the bulls; then offer the one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering to the LORD, to make atonement for the Levites. 13 You shall have the Levites stand before Aaron and before his sons so as to present them as a wave offering to the LORD.

14 “Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the sons of Israel, and ^athe Levites shall be Mine. 15 Then after that the Levites may go in to serve the tent of meeting. But you shall cleanse them and ^apresent them as a wave offering; 16 for they are ^awholly given to Me from among the sons of Israel. I have taken them for Myself ^binstead of every first issue of the womb, the firstborn of all the sons of Israel. 17 For ^aevery firstborn among the sons of Israel is Mine, among the men and among the animals; on the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for Myself. 18 But I have taken the Levites instead of every firstborn among the sons of Israel. 19 ^aI have given the Levites as ¹a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the sons of Israel, to perform the service of the sons of Israel at the tent of meeting and to make atonement on behalf of the sons of Israel, so that there will be no ^bplague among the sons of Israel by ²their coming near to the sanctuary.”

20 Thus did Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the sons of Israel to the Levites; according to all that the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so the sons of Israel did to them. 21 ^aThe Levites, too, purified themselves from sin and washed their clothes; and Aaron presented them as a wave offering before the LORD. Aaron also made atonement for them to cleanse them. 22 Then after that the Levites went in to perform their service in the tent of meeting before Aaron and before his sons; just as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.

23 Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “This is what applies to the Levites: from ^atwenty-five years old and upward ¹they shall enter to perform service in the work of the tent of meeting. 25 But at the age of fifty years they shall ¹retire from service in the work and not work any more. 26 They may, however, ¹assist their brothers in the tent of meeting, ^ato keep an obligation, but they themselves shall do no work. Thus you shall deal with the Levites concerning their obligations.”

23 Now Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “This is what applies to the Levites: from ^atwenty-five years old and upward ¹they shall enter to perform their duty in the service of the tent of meeting. 25 But at the age of fifty years they shall ¹retire from their duty in the service and not serve anymore. 26 They may, however, minister to their brothers in the tent of meeting ^ain order to keep up their responsibility, but they themselves shall perform no service. Thus you shall deal with the Levites concerning their responsibilities.”

Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to Aaron and say to him, ‘When you set up and light the lamps, the seven lamps will ^ashine in front of the lampstand.’” 3 And Aaron did so; he set up the lamps at the front of the lampstand, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. 4 ^aNow this was the workmanship of the lampstand: hammered work of gold; from its base to its flowers it was hammered work; ^baccording to the pattern which the LORD had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.

5 Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 6 “Take the Levites from among the sons of Israel and ^acleanse them. 7 This is what you shall do to them to ceremonially cleanse them: sprinkle the ^awater of purification on them, and let them ^buse a razor over their whole body and ^cwash their clothes, and they will be clean. Num 19:17, 18 8 Then let them take a young bull and its ^agrain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, and you shall take another young bull as a sin offering. 9 ^aYou shall present the Levites before the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) , and ^byou shall also assemble the whole congregation of the children of Israel, 10 and present the Levites before the LORD, and the Israelites ^ashall lay their hands on the Levites. 11 Aaron shall ¹present the Levites before the LORD as a ^awave offering from the Israelites, so that they may perform the service of the LORD. 12 Then ^athe Levites shall ¹lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, then you are to offer the one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to the LORD, to make atonement for the Levites. 13 You shall have the Levites stand before Aaron and his sons and present them as a wave offering to the LORD.

14 “Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the Israelites, and ^athe Levites shall be Mine in a very special sense. 15 Then after that the Levites may go in to serve the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) , but you shall cleanse them first and ^apresent them as a wave offering; 16 for they are ^awholly given to Me from among the Israelites. I have taken them for Myself ^binstead of ¹all who are born first, the firstborn of all the Israelites. 17 For ^aall the firstborn among the Israelites are Mine, among the men and among the animals; on the day that I struck down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified and set the Israelites apart for Myself. 18 And I have taken the Levites instead of every firstborn among the Israelites. 19 ^aI have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the Israelites, to perform the service of the Israelites at the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) and to make atonement for them, so that there will be no ^bplague among the Israelites if they should approach the sanctuary.”

20 Thus Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel did these things to the Levites; in accordance with all that the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so the Israelites did to them. 21 ^aThe Levites, too, purified themselves from sin and they washed their clothes; and Aaron presented them as a wave offering before the LORD, and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them. 22 Then after that the Levites went in to perform their service in the Tent of Meeting before Aaron and his sons; just as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.

23 Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “This is what applies to the Levites: from ^atwenty-five years old and upward they shall enter to perform service in the work of the Tent of Meeting, 25 but at the age of fifty years, they shall ¹retire from the service of the tabernacle work and serve no longer. 26 They may assist their brothers in the Tent of Meeting ^ato keep an obligation, but they shall do no heavy or difficult work. Thus you shall deal with the Levites concerning their obligations.”

But you shall cleanse them and ^apresent them as a wave offering; 16 for they are ^aexclusively given to Me from among the sons of Israel. I have taken them for Myself ^binstead of the firstborn of every womb, the firstborn of all the sons of Israel. 17 For ^aevery firstborn among the sons of Israel is Mine, among the people and among the animals; on the day that I fatally struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified them for Myself. 18 But I have taken the Levites instead of every firstborn among the sons of Israel. 19 And ^aI have given the Levites as ¹a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the sons of Israel, to perform the service of the sons of Israel at the tent of meeting and to make atonement on behalf of the sons of Israel, so that there will be no ^baffliction among the sons of Israel due to ²their approaching the sanctuary.”

20 So this is what Moses, Aaron, and all the congregation of the sons of Israel did to the Levites; according to everything that the LORD had commanded Moses regarding the Levites, so the sons of Israel did to them. 21 ^aThe Levites, too, purified themselves from sin and washed their clothes; and Aaron presented them as a wave offering before the LORD. Aaron also made atonement for them to cleanse them. 22 Then after that the Levites went in to perform their service in the tent of meeting before Aaron and his sons; just as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.
