Yahweh Will Judge the Nations

The word which ^aIsaiah the son of Amoz beheld concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 Now it will be that^aIn the last daysThe ^bmountain of the house of YahwehWill be established ¹as the head of the mountains,And will be lifted up above the hills;And ^call the nations will stream to it.3 And many peoples will come and say,“Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh,To the house of the God of Jacob,That He may instruct us ¹from His waysAnd that we may walk in His paths.”For ^afrom Zion the ²law will go forthAnd the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.4 And He will judge between the nations,And will ¹render decisions for many peoples;And ^athey will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.^bNation will not lift up sword against nation,And never again will they learn war.

Yahweh Will Have a Day of Reckoning

5 Come, ^ahouse of Jacob, and let us walk in the ^blight of Yahweh.6 For You have ^aabandoned Your people, the house of Jacob,Because they are filled with influences from the east,And they are soothsayers ^blike the Philistines,And they ^cstrike bargains with the children of foreigners.7 Their land has also been filled with silver and gold,And there is no end to their treasures;Their land has also been filled with ^ahorses,And there is no end to their chariots.8 Their land has also been ^afilled with idols;They worship the ^bwork of their hands,That which their fingers have made.9 So ^athe common man has been bowed down,And the man of importance has been made low,But ^bdo not forgive them.10 ^aEnter the rock and hide in the dust^bFrom the dread of Yahweh and from the splendor of His majesty.11 The ¹^alofty look of ²man will be made low,And the ³^bmen made high will be bowed down,And Yahweh alone will be exalted in that day.

12 For Yahweh of hosts will have a day of reckoningAgainst ^aeveryone who is proud and highAnd against everyone who is lifted up,That he may be made low.13 And it will be against all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up,Against all the ^aoaks of Bashan,14 Against all the ^ahigh mountains,Against all the hills that are lifted up,15 Against every ^alofty tower,Against every fortified wall,16 Against all the ^aships of TarshishAnd against all the desirable craft.17 The loftiness of ¹man will be bowed down,And the ²men who are high will be made low;And Yahweh alone will be exalted in that day,18 But the ^aidols will completely vanish.19 Men will ^ago into caves of the rocksAnd into holes of the ¹groundBefore the dread of YahwehAnd the splendor of His majesty,When He arises ^bto make the earth tremble.20 In that day men will ^acast away to the moles and the ^bbatsTheir idols of silver and their idols of gold,Which they made for themselves to worship,21 In order to ^ago into the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffsBefore the dread of Yahweh and the splendor of His majesty,When He arises to make the earth tremble.22 ¹^aStop regarding ²man, whose breath of life is in his nostrils;For ³^bwhy should he be esteemed?

God’s Universal Reign

The word which ^aIsaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 Now it will come about that^aIn the last daysThe ^bmountain of the house of the LORDWill be established ¹as the chief of the mountains,And will be raised above the hills;And ^call the nations will stream to it.3 And many peoples will come and say,“Come, let’s go up to the mountain of the LORD,To the house of the God of Jacob;So that He may teach us ¹about His ways,And that we may walk in His paths.”For ²the law will go out ^afrom ZionAnd the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.4 And He will judge between the nations,And will mediate for many peoples;And ^athey will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning knives.^bNation will not lift up a sword against nation,And never again will they learn war.

A Day of Reckoning Coming

12 For the LORD of armies will have a day of reckoningAgainst ^aeveryone who is arrogant and haughty,And against everyone who is lifted up,That he may be brought low.13 And it will be against all the cedars of Lebanon that are lofty and lifted up,Against all the ^aoaks of Bashan,14 Against all the ^alofty mountains,Against all the hills that are lifted up,15 Against every ^ahigh tower,Against every fortified wall,16 Against all the ^aships of TarshishAnd against all the delightful ships.17 And the pride of humanity will be humbledAnd the arrogance of people will be brought low;And the LORD alone will be exalted on that day,18 And the ^aidols will completely vanish.19 People will ^ago into caves of the rocksAnd into holes in the ¹groundAway from the terror of the LORDAnd the splendor of His majesty,When He arises ^bto terrify the earth.20 On that day people will ^athrow away to the moles and the ^bbatsTheir idols of silver and their idols of gold,Which they made for themselves to worship,21 In order to ^ago into the clefts of the rocks and the crannies of the cliffsBefore the terror of the LORD and the splendor of His majesty,When He arises to terrify the earth.22 ¹^aTake no account of man, whose breath of life is in his nostrils;For ²^bwhy should he be esteemed?

God’s Universal Reign

The word from God which ^aIsaiah son of Amoz saw in a vision concerning the nation of Judah and its capital city Jerusalem.

2 Now it will come to pass that^aIn the last daysThe ^bmountain of the house of the LORDWill be firmly established as the ¹highest of the mountains,And will be exalted above the hills;And ^call the nations will stream to it.3 And many peoples shall come and say,“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,To the house (temple) of the God of Jacob;That He may teach us His waysAnd that we may walk in His paths.”For the law will go out ^afrom ZionAnd the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.4 And He will judge between the nations,And will mediate disputes for many peoples;And ^athey will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.^bNation will not lift up the sword against nation,And never again will they learn war. 5 O ^ahouse of Jacob, come, let us walk in the ^blight of the LORD.6 Most certainly LORD You have ^aabandoned your people, the house of Jacob,Because they are filled with influences from the east,And they are soothsayers who foretell ^blike the Philistines;Also they ^cstrike bargains with the children of foreigners (pagans) . Deut 18:9-127 Their land has also been filled with silver and goldAnd there is no end to their treasures;Their land has also been filled with ^ahorsesAnd there is no end to their chariots. Deut 17:14-178 Their land has also been ^afilled with idols;They worship the ^bwork of their hands,That which their own fingers have made.9 So ^athe common man has been humbled before idolsAnd the man of importance has been degraded,Therefore ^bdo not forgive them O LORD.10 ^aGo among the rocks and hide in the dust^bFrom the terror of the LORD and from the splendor of His majesty.11 The ^aproud look of man will be degradedAnd the ^barrogance of men will be humbled,And the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.

A Day of Reckoning Coming

12 For the LORD of hosts will have a day of reckoningAgainst ^aall who are proud and arrogantAnd against all who are lifted up,That they may be degraded. Zeph 2:3; Mal 4:113 And the wrath of God will be against all the cedars of Lebanon west of the Jordan that are high and lifted up,Against all the ^aoaks of Bashan east of the Jordan,14 Against all the ^ahigh mountains,Against all the hills that are lifted up,15 Against every ^ahigh tower,Against every fortified wall,16 Against all the ^aships of TarshishAnd against all the beautiful craft.17 Then the pride of man will be humbledAnd the arrogance of men will be degraded;The LORD alone shall be exalted in that day,18 And the ^aidols will completely vanish (be abolished) .19 They the stricken, deprived of all in which they had trusted will ^ago into the caves of the rocksAnd into the holes of the ground fleeingFrom the terror and dread of the LORDAnd from the splendor of His majesty,When He arises ^bto terrify the earth.
