‘Now if a person sins after he hears a 1public aoath to testify when he is a witness, whether he has seen or otherwise known, if he does not tell it, then he will bear his 2guilt. Or a person who touches aany unclean thing, whether a carcass of an unclean beast or the carcass of unclean cattle or a carcass of unclean swarming thingsthough it is hidden from him, yet he is unclean—will be guilty. Or if he touches human uncleanness, of whatever sort his uncleanness may be with which he becomes unclean, and it is hidden from him, and then he comes to know it, he will be guilty. Or if a person aswears thoughtlessly with his lips to do evil or to do good, in whatever matter a man may speak thoughtlessly with a sworn oath, and it is hidden from him, and then he comes to know it, he will be guilty in one of these. So it shall be, when he becomes guilty in one of these, that he shall aconfess that in which he has sinned. He shall also bring his guilt offering to Yahweh for his sin which he has 1committed, aa female from the flock, a lamb or a 2goat, as a sin offering. So the priest shall make atonement on his behalf for his sin.

‘But if 1he cannot afford a lamb, then he shall bring to Yahweh his guilt offering for that in which he has sinned, two turtledoves or two young pigeons, aone for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. And he shall bring them to the priest, who shall bring near first that which is for the sin offering and shall nip its head at the front of its neck, but he ashall not separate it. He shall also sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering aon the side of the altar, while the rest of the blood shall be drained out bat the base of the altar: it is a sin offering. 10 The second he shall then prepare as a burnt offering aaccording to the legal judgment. bSo the priest shall make atonement on his behalf for his sin which he has 1committed, and it will be forgiven him.

11 ‘But aif his 1means are insufficient for two turtledoves or two young pigeons, then for his offering for that which he has sinned, he shall bring the tenth of an 2ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; bhe shall not place oil on it or put frankincense on it, for it is a sin offering. 12 He shall then bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take his handful of it as its memorial portion and offer it up in smoke on the altar, 1with the offerings of Yahweh by fire: it is a sin offering. 13 So the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin which he has 1committed from aone of these, and it will be forgiven him; then bthe rest shall become the priest’s, like the grain offering.’”

The Statutes of Guilt Offerings

14 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 15 aIf a person acts unfaithfully and sins bunintentionally against the holy things of Yahweh, then he shall bring his cguilt offering to Yahweh: da ram without blemish from the flock, according to your valuation in silver by 1shekels, in terms of the eshekel of the sanctuary, for a guilt offering. 16 aAnd he shall make restitution for that which he has sinned against the holy thing, and he shall add to it a fifth part of it and give it to the priest. bThe priest shall then make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and it will be forgiven him.

17 “Now if a person sins and does any one of the things 1which Yahweh has commanded not to be done, abut he was unaware, still he is guilty and shall bear his punishment. 18 He is then to bring to the priest aa ram without blemish from the flock, according to your valuation, for a guilt offering. So the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his error in which he sinned bunintentionally and did not know it, and it will be forgiven him. 19 It is a guilt offering; he was certainly guilty before Yahweh.”

The Law of Guilt Offerings

14 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 15 aIf a person acts unfaithfully and sins bunintentionally against the LORDS holy things, then he shall bring his cguilt offering to the LORD: da ram without defect from the flock, according to your valuation in silver by shekels, in terms of the eshekel of the sanctuary, for a guilt offering. 16 aHe shall make restitution for that which he has sinned against the holy thing, and shall add to it a fifth part of it and give it to the priest. bThe priest shall then make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and it will be forgiven him.

The Law of Guilt Offerings

‘If anyone sins after he hears a 1public aadjuration (solemn command to testify) when he is a witness, whether he has seen or otherwise known something—if he fails to report it, then he will bear his guilt and be held responsible. Or if someone touches aany ceremonially unclean thing—whether the carcass of an unclean wild animal or the carcass of an unclean domestic animal or the carcass of unclean creeping things—even if he is unaware of it, he has become unclean, and he will be guilty. Or if he touches human uncleanness—whatever kind it may be—and he becomes unclean, but he is unaware of it, when he recognizes it, he will be guilty. Or if anyone aswears an oath thoughtlessly or impulsively 1aloud that he will do either evil or good, in whatever manner a person may speak thoughtlessly or impulsively with an oath, but he is unaware of it, when he recognizes it, he will be guilty in one of these. Mark 6:23 So it shall be when a person is guilty in one of these, that he shall aconfess the sin he has committed. He shall bring his guilt offering to the LORD for the sin which he has committed, aa female from the flock, a lamb or a goat as a sin offering. So the priest shall make atonement on his behalf for his sin.

‘But if he 1cannot afford a lamb, then he shall bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons as his guilt offering for his sin to the LORD, aone as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering. He shall bring them to the priest, who shall offer first the one for the sin offering, and shall nip its head at the front of its neck, but ashall not sever it completely. He shall also sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering aon the side of the altar, and the rest of the blood shall be drained out bat the base of the altar; it is a sin offering. 10 The second bird he shall prepare as a burnt offering, aaccording to the ordinance. bSo the priest shall make atonement on his behalf for the sin which he has committed, and it will be forgiven him.

11 ‘But aif he cannot afford to bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons, then he shall bring as his offering for his sin the tenth part of an 1ephah of fine flour as a sin offering; bhe shall not put olive oil or incense on it, for it is a sin offering. 12 He shall bring it to the priest, who shall take a handful of it as a memorial portion and offer it up in smoke on the altar, with the offerings by fire to the LORD; it is a sin offering. 13 In this way the priest shall make atonement for him for the sin which he has committed in aone of these things, and it will be forgiven him; then the rest shall be bfor the priest, like the grain offering.’”

14 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 15 aIf a person commits a breach of faith and sins bunintentionally against the holy things of the LORD, then he shall bring his cguilt offering to the LORD, da ram without blemish from the flock, valued by you in shekels of silver, that is, the eshekel of the sanctuary, as a guilt offering. 16 aHe shall make restitution for the sin which he has committed against the holy thing, and shall add a fifth of the ram’s value to it, and give it to the priest. bThe priest shall then make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and he shall be forgiven.

17 “Now if anyone sins and does any of the things which the LORD has forbidden, athough he was not aware of it, still he is guilty and shall bear his punishment. Luke 12:48 18 He is then to bring to the priest aa ram without blemish from the flock, according to your valuation, for a guilt offering. In this way the priest shall make atonement for him regarding the error which he committed bunintentionally and did not know it, and he shall be forgiven. 19 It is a guilt offering; he was certainly guilty before the LORD.”
