“So it will be, when all of these things have come upon you, ^athe blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you cause these things to return to your heart ^bin all the nations where Yahweh your God has banished you, 2 and you ^areturn to Yahweh your God and listen to His voice ^bwith all your heart and soul according to all that I am commanding you today, you and your sons, 3 then Yahweh your God will ^1areturn ²you from captivity and return His compassion on you, and He ^bwill gather you again from all the peoples where Yahweh your God has ^cscattered you. 4 If those of you who are banished are at the ends of the sky, ^afrom there Yahweh your God will gather you, and from there He will take you back. 5 ^aAnd Yahweh your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will prosper you and ^bmultiply you more than your fathers.

6 “Moreover ^aYahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed, ^bto love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live. 7 ^aAnd Yahweh your God will ¹inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you. 8 And you shall return and listen to the voice of Yahweh, and you shall do all His commandments which I am commanding you today. 9 ^aThen Yahweh your God will ¹prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the ²offspring of your ³body and in the ⁴offspring of your cattle and in the ⁵produce of your ground, for ^bYahweh will return to rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers, 10 ¹when you listen to the voice of Yahweh your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which ^aare written in this book of the law, ²when you return to Yahweh your God ^bwith all your heart and soul.

11 “For this commandment which I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it far from you. 12 It is not in heaven, ¹that you should say, ‘^aWho will go up to heaven for us and get it for us and make us hear it, that we may do it?’ 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, ¹that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us and get it for us and make us hear it, that we may do it?’ 14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.

15 “See, ^aI have set before you today life and ¹prosperity, and death and ²calamity; 16 in that I am commanding you today ^ato love Yahweh your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you ^bmay live and multiply, and that Yahweh your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. 17 But if your heart turns away and you will not listen, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today that ^ayou shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter ¹and possess it. 19 ^aI call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, ^bthe blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your seed, 20 ^aby loving Yahweh your God, by listening to His voice, and ^bby holding fast to Him; ^cfor ¹this is your life and the length of your days, ²that you may live in ^dthe land which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

15 “See, ^aI have set before you today life and ¹prosperity, and death and ²adversity; 16 in that I command you today ^ato love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you ^bmay live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. 17 But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today that ^ayou shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter ¹and possess it. 19 ^aI call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, ^bthe blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your ¹descendants, 20 ^aby loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and ^bby holding fast to Him; ^cfor ¹this is your life and the length of your days, ²that you may live in ^dthe land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

“So it shall be when all these things have come on you, ^athe blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you ¹call them to mind ^bin all the nations where the LORD your God has driven you, 2 and you ^ahave returned to the LORD your God and have listened to and obeyed His voice ^bwith all your heart and with all your soul, in accordance with everything that I am commanding you today, you and your children, 3 then the LORD your God will ^arestore your fortunes in your return from exile, and have compassion on you, and ^bwill gather you together again from all the peoples (nations) where He has ^cscattered you. 4 Even if any of your dispersed are at the ends of the earth, ^athe LORD your God will gather you together from there, and from there He will bring you back. 5 ^aThe LORD your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you will take possession of it; and He shall make you prosper and ^bmultiply—even more than your fathers.

6 “And ^athe LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the hearts of your descendants that is, He will remove the desire to sin from your heart, ^bso that you will love the LORD your God with all your heart and all your soul, so that you may live as a recipient of His blessing. 7 ^aThe LORD your God will inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who have persecuted you. 8 And you shall again listen to and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all His commandments which I command you today. 9 ^aThen the LORD your God shall make you abundantly prosperous in ¹everything that you do, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your land; for ^bthe LORD will again delight over you for good, just as He delighted over your fathers, 10 if you listen to and obey the voice of the LORD your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which ^aare written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the LORD your God ^bwith all your heart and with all your soul (your entire being) .

11 “For this commandment which I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it ¹out of reach. 12 It is not a secret hidden in heaven, that you should say, ‘^aWho will go up to heaven for us and bring it to us, so that we may hear it and obey it?’ 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us and bring it to us, so that we may hear it and obey it?’ 14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may obey it.

15 “Listen closely, ^aI have set before you today life and prosperity (good) , and death and adversity (evil) ; 16 in that I command you today ^ato love the LORD your God, to walk that is, to live each and every day in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments (precepts) , so that you ^bwill live and multiply, and that the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you are entering to possess. 17 But if your heart turns away and you will not hear and obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today that ^ayou will certainly perish. You will not live long in the land which you cross the Jordan to enter and possess. 19 ^aI call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today, that I have set before you life and death, ^bthe blessing and the curse; therefore, you shall choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, 20 by ^aloving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and ^bby holding closely to Him; ^cfor He is your life your good life, your abundant life, your fulfillment and the length of your days, that you may live in ^dthe land which the LORD promised (swore) to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
