It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and sexual immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has ^ahis father’s wife. 2 And ¹you ^ahave become puffed up and ²have not ^bmourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be ^cremoved from your midst.

3 For I, on my part, though ^aabsent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present: 4 ^ain the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and ¹I with you in spirit, ^bwith the power of our Lord Jesus, 5 ^adeliver such a one to ^bSatan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in ^cthe day of ¹the Lord.

6 ^aYour boasting is not good. ^bDo you not know that ^ca little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ, our ^aPassover lamb, also was sacrificed. 8 Therefore let us celebrate the feast, ^anot with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

9 I wrote you in my letter ^anot to associate with sexually immoral people; 10 I did not at all mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the greedy and swindlers, or with ^aidolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. 11 But now I am writing to you not to associate ¹with any so-called ^abrother if he is a sexually immoral person, or greedy, or ^ban idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging ^aoutsiders? ^bAre you not to judge those who are within the church? 13 But those who are outside, God will judge. ^aREMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES.

It is actually reported everywhere that there is sexual immorality among you, a kind of immorality that is condemned even among the unbelieving Gentiles: that someone ¹has an intimate relationship with ^ahis father’s wife. Deut 22:30; 27:20 2 And you ^aare proud and arrogant! You should have ^bmourned in shame so that the man who has done this disgraceful thing would be ^cremoved from your fellowship!

3 For I, though ^aabsent from you in body but present in spirit, have already passed judgment on him who has committed this act, as if I were present. 4 ^aIn the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I am with you in spirit, ^bwith the power of our Lord Jesus, 5 you are to ^1ahand over this man to ^bSatan for the destruction of his body, so that his spirit may be saved in ^cthe day of the Lord Jesus.

6 ^aYour boasting over the supposed spirituality of your church is not good indeed, it is vulgar and inappropriate. ^1bDo you not know that just ^ca little leaven ferments the whole batch of dough, just as a little sin corrupts a person or an entire church? 7 ¹Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new batch, just as you are, still unleavened. For Christ our ^aPassover Lamb has been sacrificed. 8 Therefore, let us celebrate the feast, ^anot with old leaven, nor with leaven of vice and malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and untainted truth. 9 I wrote you in my previous letter ^anot to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not meaning the immoral people of this world, or the greedy ones and swindlers, or ^aidolaters, for then you would have to get out of the world and human society altogether! 11 But actually, I have written to you not to associate with any so-called Christian ^abrother if he is sexually immoral or greedy, or is ^ban idolater devoted to anything that takes the place of God, or is a reviler who insults or slanders or otherwise verbally abuses others, or is a drunkard or a swindler—you must not so much as ¹eat with such a person. 2+@Thess 3:6 12 For what business is it of mine to judge ^aoutsiders (non-believers) ? ^bDo you not judge those who are within the church to protect the church as the situation requires? 13 God alone sits in judgment on those who are outside the faith. ^aREMOVE THE WICKED ONE FROM AMONG YOU expel him from your church. Deut 17:7
