Ese mismo día salió Jesús de la casa^a y se sentó ^ba la orilla del mar. 2 Y se congregaron junto a Él grandes multitudes, por lo que subió a una barca^a y se sentó; y toda la multitud estaba de pie en la playa.

3 Y les habló muchas cosas en parábolas^a, diciendo: He aquí, el sembrador salió a sembrar; 4 y al sembrar, parte de la semilla cayó junto al camino, y vinieron las aves y se la comieron. 5 Otra parte¹ cayó en pedregales donde no tenía mucha tierra; y enseguida brotó porque no tenía profundidad de tierra; 6 pero cuando salió el sol, se quemó; y porque no tenía raíz, se secó. 7 Otra parte¹ cayó entre² espinos; y los espinos crecieron y la ahogaron. 8 Y otra parte¹ cayó en tierra buena y dio* fruto, algunas semillas a ciento por uno, otras a sesenta y otras a treinta^a. 9 El que tiene oídos¹, que oiga^a.

10 Y acercándose los discípulos, le dijeron: ¿Por qué les hablas en parábolas? 11 Y respondiendo Él, les dijo: Porque a vosotros se os ha concedido conocer los misterios del reino de los cielos, pero a ellos no se les ha concedido^a. 12 Porque a cualquiera que tiene, se le dará más, y tendrá en abundancia; pero a cualquiera que no tiene, aun lo que tiene se le quitará^a. 13 Por eso les hablo en parábolas; porque viendo no ven, y oyendo no oyen ni entienden^a. 14 Y en¹ ellos se cumple la profecía de Isaías que dice:«^aAL OÍR OIRÉIS, Y NO ENTENDERÉIS;Y VIENDO VERÉIS, Y NO PERCIBIRÉIS;

16 ^aPero dichosos vuestros ojos, porque ven, y vuestros oídos, porque oyen. 17 Porque en verdad os digo que muchos profetas y justos desearon ver lo que vosotros veis, y no lo vieron^a; y oír lo que vosotros oís, y no lo oyeron.

18 ^aVosotros, pues, escuchad la parábola del sembrador. 19 A todo el que oye la palabra del reino^a y no la entiende, el maligno viene^b y arrebata lo que fue sembrado en su corazón. Este es aquel en quien se sembró la semilla junto al camino. 20 Y aquel en quien se sembró la semilla en pedregales,este es el que oye la palabra y enseguida la recibe con gozo; 21 pero no tiene raíz profunda en sí mismo, sino quesolo es temporal, y cuando por causa de la palabra viene la aflicción o la persecución, enseguida tropieza y cae^a. 22 Y aquel en quien se sembró la semilla entre espinos,este es el que oye la palabra, mas las preocupaciones del mundo^1a y el engaño de las riquezas^b ahogan la palabra, y se queda sin fruto. 23 Pero aquel en quien se sembró la semilla en tierra buena,este es el que oye la palabra y la entiende,este sí da fruto y produce, uno a ciento, otro a sesenta y otro a treinta^a.

24 Jesús les refirió otra parábola, diciendo: El reino de los cielos^a puede compararse a¹ un hombre que sembró buena semilla en su campo. 25 Pero mientras los hombres dormían, vino su enemigo y sembró cizaña¹ entre el trigo, y se fue. 26 Cuando el trigo¹ brotó y produjo grano, entonces apareció también la cizaña. 27 Y los siervos del dueño fueron y le dijeron: «Señor, ¿no sembraste buena semilla en tu campo? ¿Cómo¹, pues, tiene cizaña?». 28 Él les dijo: «Un enemigo¹ ha hecho esto». Y los siervos le dijeron*: «¿Quieres, pues, que vayamos y la recojamos?». 29 Pero él dijo*: «No, no sea que al recoger la cizaña, arranquéis el trigo junto con ella. 30 Dejad que ambos crezcan juntos hasta la siega; y al tiempo de la siega diré a los segadores: “Recoged primero la cizaña y atadla en manojos para quemarla, pero el trigo recogedlo en mi granero^a”».

31 Les refirió otra parábola, diciendo: ^aEl reino de los cielos es semejante a un grano de mostaza^b, que un hombre tomó y sembró en su campo, 32 y que de todas las semillas es la más pequeña; pero cuando ha crecido, es la mayor de las hortalizas, y se hace árbol, de modo que LAS AVES DEL CIELO vienen y ANIDAN EN SUS RAMAS^a.

33 Les dijo otra parábola: ^aEl reino de los cielos es semejante a la levadura que una mujer tomó y escondió en tres medidas¹ de harina hasta que todo quedó fermentado^b.

34 Todo esto habló Jesús en parábolas a las multitudes, y nada les hablaba sin parábola^a, 35 para que se cumpliera lo dicho por medio del profeta, cuando dijo:ABRIRÉ MI BOCA EN PARÁBOLAS;HABLARE DE COSAS OCULTAS DESDE LA FUNDACIÓN DEL MUNDO^a.

36 Entonces dejó a la multitud y entró en la casa^a. Y se le acercaron sus discípulos, diciendo: Explícanos la parábola de la cizaña del campo^b. 37 Y respondiendo Él, dijo: El que siembra la buena semilla es el Hijo del Hombre^a, 38 y el campo es el mundo; y la buena semilla son¹ los hijos del reino^a, y la cizaña son los hijos^b del maligno^c; 39 y el enemigo que la sembró es el diablo, y la siega es el fin¹ del mundo^2a, y los segadores son los ángeles. 40 Por tanto, así como la cizaña se recoge y se quema en el fuego, de la misma manera será en el fin¹ del mundo^2a. 41 El Hijo del Hombre^a enviará a sus ángeles^b, y recogerán de su reino a todos los que son piedra de tropiezo¹ y a los que hacen iniquidad^c; 42 y los echarán en el horno de fuego^a; allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes^b. 43 Entonces LOS JUSTOS RESPLANDECERÁN COMO EL SOL^a en el reino de su Padre. El que tiene oídos¹, que oiga^b.

44 El reino de los cielos^a es semejante a un tesoro escondido en el campo, que al encontrarlo un hombre, lo vuelve a esconder, y de alegría por ello, va, vende todo lo que tiene^b y compra aquel campo.

45 El reino de los cielos^a también es semejante a un mercader que busca perlas finas, 46 y al encontrar una perla de gran valor, fue y vendió todo lo que tenía y la compró.

47 El reino de los cielos^a también es semejante a una red barredera que se echó en el mar, y recogió peces de toda clase; 48 y cuando se llenó, la sacaron a la playa; y se sentaron y recogieron los peces buenos en canastas¹, pero echaron fuera los malos. 49 Así será en el fin¹ del mundo^2a; los ángeles saldrán, y sacarán³ a los malos de entre los justos, 50 y los arrojarán en el horno de fuego^a; allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes^b.

51 ¿Habéis entendido todas estas cosas? Ellos le dijeron*: Sí. 52 Y Él les dijo: Por eso todo escriba que se ha convertido en un discípulo del reino de los cielos es semejante al¹ dueño de casa que saca de su tesoro cosas nuevas y cosas viejas.

53 Y sucedió que cuando Jesús terminó estas parábolas, se fue de allí^a. 54 ^aY llegando a su pueblo, les enseñaba en su sinagoga^b, de tal manera que se maravillaban^c y decían: ¿Dónde obtuvoeste esta sabiduría y estos poderes milagrosos¹? 55 ¿No eseste el hijo del carpintero? ¿No se llama su madre María, y sus hermanos^a Jacobo¹, José, Simón y Judas? 56 ¿No están todas sus hermanas^a con nosotros? ¿Dónde, pues, obtuvoeste todas estas cosas? 57 Y se escandalizaban a causa de Él^a. Pero Jesús les dijo: No hay profeta sin honra, sino en su propia tierra y en su casa^b. 58 Y no hizo muchos milagros¹ allí a causa de la incredulidad de ellos.

On that day Jesus had gone out of ^athe house and was sitting ^bby the sea. 2 And large crowds gathered to Him, so ^aHe got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd was standing on the beach.

3 And He told them many things in ^aparables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow; 4 and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. 5 Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and they sprang up immediately, because they had no depth of soil. 6 But after the sun rose, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 Others fell ¹among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out. 8 But others fell on the good soil and yielded a crop, some a ^ahundred, some sixty, and some thirty times as much. 9 ^aThe one who has ears, ¹let him hear.”

10 And the disciples came up and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” 11 And ¹Jesus answered them, “^aTo you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. 12 ^aFor whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while ^aseeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. 14 And ¹in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says,‘^2aYOU SHALL KEEP ON LISTENING, ³BUT SHALL NOT UNDERSTAND;AND ⁴YOU SHALL KEEP ON LOOKING, ⁵BUT SHALL NOT PERCEIVE;

16 ^aBut blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. 17 For truly I say to you that ^amany prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

18 “^aListen then to the parable of the sower. 19 When anyone hears ^athe ¹word of the kingdom and does not understand it, ^bthe evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one sown with seed beside the road. 20 The one sown with seed on the rocky places, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution occurs because of the ¹word, immediately he ^2afalls away. 22 And the one sown with seed among the thorns, this is the one who hears the word, and the anxiety of ^athe ¹world and the ^bdeceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it ²becomes unfruitful. 23 But the one sown with seed on the good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces, some ^aa hundred, some sixty, and some thirty times as much.”

24 Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, “^aThe kingdom of heaven ¹is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed ¹weeds among the wheat, and left. 26 And when the ¹wheat sprouted and produced grain, then the weeds also became evident. 27 And the slaves of the landowner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? ¹How then does it have weeds?’ 28 And he said to them, ‘¹An enemy has done this!’ The slaves *said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he *said, ‘No; while you are gathering up the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and at the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather up the weeds and bind them in bundles to burn them; but ^agather the wheat into my barn.”’”

31 He presented another parable to them, saying, “^aThe kingdom of heaven is like ^ba mustard seed, which a person took and sowed in his field; 32 and this is smaller than all the other seeds, but when it is fully grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that ^aTHE BIRDS OF THE SKY come and NEST IN ITS BRANCHES.”

33 He spoke another parable to them: “^aThe kingdom of heaven is like ¹leaven, which a woman took and hid in ^bthree ²sata of flour until it was all leavened.”

34 All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and He did not speak anything to them ^awithout a parable. 35 This was so that what was spoken through the prophet would be ¹fulfilled:“^aI WILL OPEN MY MOUTH IN PARABLES;I WILL PROCLAIM THINGS HIDDEN SINCE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.”

36 Then He left the crowds and went into ^athe house. And His disciples came to Him and said, “^bExplain to us the parable of the ¹weeds of the field.” 37 And He said, “The one who sows the good seed is ^athe Son of Man, 38 and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are ^athe sons of the kingdom; and the weeds are ^bthe sons of ^cthe evil one; 39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is ^athe ¹end of the age; and the reapers are angels. 40 So just as the weeds are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at ^athe ¹end of the age. 41 ^aThe Son of Man ^bwill send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom ¹all ^cstumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, 42 and they ^awill throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place ^bthere will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 ^aThen THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE FORTH LIKE THE SUN in the kingdom of their Father. ^bThe one who has ears, ¹let him hear.

44 “^aThe kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from ¹joy over it he goes and ^bsells everything that he has, and buys that field.

45 “Again, ^athe kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, 46 and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold everything that he had and bought it.

47 “Again, ^athe kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered fish of every kind; 48 and when it was filled, they pulled it up on the beach; and they sat down and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away. 49 So it will be at ^athe ¹end of the age: the angels will come forth and remove the wicked from among the righteous, 50 and they ^awill throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place ^bthere will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

51 “Have you understood all these things?” They *said to Him, “Yes.” 52 And ¹Jesus said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure new things and old.”

53 ^aWhen Jesus had finished these parables, He departed from there. 54 And ^aHe came to ¹His hometown and ^bbegan teaching them in their synagogue, with the result that ^cthey were astonished, and said, “Where did this man acquire this wisdom and these ²miraculous powers? 55 Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is ^aHis mother not called Mary, and His ^bbrothers, James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? 56 And ^aHis sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man acquire all these things?” 57 And they took ^aoffense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “^bA prophet is not dishonored except in his ¹hometown and in his own household.” 58 And He did not do many ¹miracles there because of their unbelief.
