El SEÑOR habló a Moisés después de la muerte de los hijos de Aarón, cuando se acercaron a la presencia del SEÑOR y murieron^a. 2 Dijo el SEÑOR a Moisés: Di a tu hermano Aarón que no en todo tiempo entre en el lugar santo detrás¹ del velo^a, delante del propiciatorio² que está sobre el arca, no sea que muera; porque yo apareceré en la nube sobre el propiciatorio^3b. 3 Aarón podrá entrar en el lugar santo con esto: con un novillo para ofrenda por el pecado^1a y un carnero para holocausto. 4 Se vestirá con la túnica sagrada de lino, y los calzoncillos de lino estarán sobre sus carnes, y se ceñirá con el cinturón de lino y se cubrirá con la tiara de lino^a (estas son vestiduras sagradas). Lavará, pues, su cuerpo¹ con agua y se vestirá con ellas^b. 5 Y tomará de la congregación de los hijos de Israel dos machos cabríos para ofrenda por el pecado^a y un carnero para holocausto. 6 Entonces Aarón ofrecerá el novillo como ofrenda por el pecado, que es por sí mismo, para hacer expiación por sí mismo y por su casa^a. 7 Y tomará los dos machos cabríos y los presentará delante del SEÑOR a la entrada de la tienda de reunión. 8 Y echará suertes Aarón sobre los dos machos cabríos, una suerte por el SEÑOR, y otra suerte para el macho cabrío expiatorio¹. 9 Aarón ofrecerá el macho cabrío sobre el cual haya caído la suerte para el SEÑOR, haciéndolo ofrenda por el pecado. 10 Pero el macho cabrío sobre el cual cayó la suerte para el macho cabrío expiatorio¹, será presentado vivo delante del SEÑOR para hacer expiación sobre él^a, para enviarlo como macho cabrío expiatorio² al desierto.

11 Entonces Aarón ofrecerá el novillo de la ofrenda por el pecado, que es por sí mismo^a, y hará expiación por sí mismo y por su casa^b, y degollará el novillo de la ofrenda por el pecado hecha¹ por sí mismo. 12 Y tomará un incensario^a lleno de brasas de fuego de sobre el altar que está delante del SEÑOR, y dos puñados¹ de incienso aromático molido^b, y lo llevará detrás² del velo. 13 Pondrá el incienso sobre el fuego delante del SEÑOR, para que la nube del incienso cubra el propiciatorio que está sobre el arca del testimonio, no sea que Aarón muera^a. 14 Tomará además de la sangre del novillo^a y la rociará con su dedo en el lado oriental del propiciatorio; también delante del propiciatorio rociará con su dedo siete veces de la sangre^b.

15 Después degollará el macho cabrío de la ofrenda por el pecado que es por el pueblo, y llevará su sangre detrás¹ del velo^a y hará con ella² como hizo con la sangre del novillo, y la rociará sobre el propiciatorio y delante del propiciatorio. 16 Hará, pues, expiación por el lugar santo a causa de las impurezas de los hijos de Israel y a causa de sus transgresiones^a, por todos sus pecados; así hará también con la tienda de reunión que permanece con ellos en medio de sus impurezas. 17 Cuando Aarón entre a hacer expiación en el lugar santo, nadie estará en la tienda de reunión hasta que él salga, para que haga expiación por sí mismo, por su casa y por toda la asamblea de Israel. 18 Entonces saldrá al altar que está delante del SEÑOR y hará expiación por él, y tomará de la sangre del novillo y de la sangre del macho cabrío y la pondrá en los cuernos del altar^a por todos los lados. 19 Y rociará sobre él de la sangre siete veces con su dedo^a, y lo limpiará, y lo santificará de las impurezas de los hijos de Israel.

20 Cuando acabe de hacer expiación por el lugar santo, la tienda de reunión y el altar, presentará el macho cabrío vivo. 21 Después Aarón pondrá ambas manos sobre la cabeza del macho cabrío y confesará sobre él todas las iniquidades de los hijos de Israel^a y todas sus transgresiones, todos sus pecados, y poniéndolos sobre la cabeza del macho cabrío, lo enviará al desierto por medio¹ de un hombre preparado para esto. 22 El macho cabrío llevará sobre sí todas sus iniquidades a una tierra solitaria¹; y el hombre soltará el macho cabrío en el desierto.

23 Entonces Aarón entrará en la tienda de reunión y se quitará las vestiduras de lino^a que se había puesto al entrar en el lugar santo, y las dejará allí. 24 Lavará su cuerpo¹ con agua^a en un lugar sagrado, se pondrá sus vestidos, y saldrá y ofrecerá su holocausto^b y el holocausto del pueblo, y hará expiación por sí mismo y por el pueblo. 25 Luego quemará en el altar la grasa de la ofrenda por el pecado. 26 Y el que soltó el macho cabrío como macho cabrío expiatorio¹, lavará sus ropas y lavará su cuerpo² con agua^a, y después entrará en el campamento. 27 Pero el novillo de la ofrenda por el pecado y el macho cabrío de la ofrenda por el pecado, cuya sangre fue llevada dentro del lugar santo para hacer expiación, serán llevados fuera del campamento, y quemarán en el fuego su piel, su carne y su estiércol^a. 28 Y el que los queme lavará sus ropas y lavará su cuerpo con agua^a, y después entrará en el campamento.

29 Y esto os será un estatuto perpetuo: en el mes séptimo, a los diez días del mes^a, humillaréis vuestras almas y no haréis obra alguna^b, ni el nativo ni el forastero que reside entre vosotros; 30 porque en este día se¹ hará expiación por vosotros para que seáis limpios; seréis limpios de todos vuestros pecados^a delante del SEÑOR. 31 Os será día de reposo, de descanso solemne, para que humilléis vuestras almas; es estatuto perpetuo^a. 32 Así el sacerdote que es ungido y ordenado¹ para ministrar como sacerdote en lugar de su padre hará expiación: se pondrá las vestiduras de lino, las vestiduras sagradas^a, 33 y hará expiación por el santo santuario; hará expiación también por la tienda de reunión y por el altar. Hará expiación además por los sacerdotes^a y por todo el pueblo de la asamblea. 34 Tendréis esto por estatuto perpetuo para hacer expiación por los hijos de Israel, por todos sus pecados, una vez cada año^a. Tal como el SEÑOR lo ordenó a Moisés, así lo hizo.

Now the LORD spoke to Moses after ^athe death of the two sons of Aaron, when they had approached the presence of the LORD and died. 2 The LORD said to Moses:“Tell your brother Aaron that he shall not enter ^aat ¹any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the ²atoning cover which is on the ark, or he will die; for ^bI will appear in the cloud over the ³atoning cover. 3 Aaron shall enter the Holy Place with this: with a ¹bull as a ^2asin offering and a ram as a burnt offering. 4 He shall put on the ^aholy linen tunic, and the linen undergarments shall be next to his ¹body, and he shall be wrapped about the waist with the linen sash and the linen turban wound around his forehead (these are holy garments). He shall ^bbathe his ²body in water and put them on. 5 And he shall take from the congregation of the sons of Israel ^atwo male goats as a ¹sin offering, and one ram as a burnt offering. 6 Then ^aAaron shall offer the bull as the ¹sin offering, which is for himself, so that he may make atonement for himself and for his household. 7 He shall then take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the doorway of the tent of meeting. 8 Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats, one lot for the LORD and the other lot for ¹the ²scapegoat. 9 Then Aaron shall offer the goat on which the lot for the LORD fell, and make it a ¹sin offering. 10 But the goat on which the lot for ¹the ²scapegoat fell shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make ^aatonement upon it, to send it into the wilderness ³as the ⁴scapegoat.

11 “Then Aaron shall offer the bull of the ¹sin offering ^awhich is for himself and make atonement for himself and ^bfor his household, and he shall slaughter the bull of the ²sin offering which is for himself. 12 He shall take a ^afirepan full of coals of fire from upon the altar before the LORD and ¹two handfuls of finely ground ^bsweet incense, and bring it inside the veil. 13 He shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, so that the cloud of incense may cover the ^aatoning cover that is on the ark of the testimony, ^botherwise he will die. 14 Moreover, ^ahe shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it ^bwith his finger on the atoning cover on the east side; also in front of the atoning cover he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.

15 “Then he shall slaughter the goat of the sin offering, ^awhich is for the people, and bring its blood inside the veil and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the atoning cover and in front of the atoning cover. 16 ^aHe shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the impurities of the sons of Israel and because of their unlawful acts regarding all their sins; and he shall do so for the tent of meeting which remains with them in the midst of their impurities. 17 When he goes in to make atonement in the Holy Place, no one shall be in the tent of meeting until he comes out, so that he may make atonement for himself and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel. 18 Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it; he shall take some of the blood from the bull and some of the blood from the goat, and ^aput it on the horns of the altar on all sides. 19 ^aWith his finger he shall sprinkle some of the blood on it seven times and cleanse it, and consecrate it from the impurities of the sons of Israel.

20 “When he finishes atoning for the Holy Place and the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall offer the live goat. 21 Then Aaron shall lay both of his hands on the head of the live goat, and ^aconfess over it all the wrongdoings of the sons of Israel and all their unlawful acts regarding all their sins; and he shall place them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who stands ready. 22 Then the goat shall carry on itself all their wrongdoings to an ¹isolated territory; he shall release the goat in the wilderness.

23 “Then Aaron shall come into the tent of meeting and take off ^athe linen garments which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there. 24 And ^ahe shall bathe his ¹body with water in a holy place and put on ^bhis clothes, and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people. 25 Then he shall offer up in smoke the fat of the sin offering on the altar. 26 The one who released the goat ¹as the ²scapegoat ^ashall wash his clothes and bathe his ³body with water; then afterward he shall come into the camp. 27 But the bull of the ¹sin offering and the goat of the ²sin offering, ^awhose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be taken outside the camp, and they shall burn their hides, their flesh, and their refuse in the fire. 28 Then the ^aone who burns them shall wash his clothes and bathe his body with water; and afterward he shall come into the camp.

29 “This shall be a permanent statute for you: ^ain the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall humble ¹yourselves and not ^bdo any work, whether the native, or the stranger who resides among you; 30 for it is on this day that ¹atonement shall be made for you to ^acleanse you; you will be clean from all your sins before the LORD. 31 It is to be a Sabbath of solemn rest for you, so that you may ^ahumble ¹yourselves; it is a permanent statute. 32 So the priest who is anointed and ¹ordained to serve as priest in his father’s place shall make atonement: he shall put on ^athe linen garments, the holy garments, 33 and make atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar. He shall also make atonement for ^athe priests and for all the people of the assembly. 34 Now you shall have this as a ^apermanent statute, to ^bmake atonement for the sons of Israel for all their sins once every year.” And just as the LORD had commanded Moses, so he did.
