Palabra que vino a Jeremías para todos los judíos que moraban en la tierra de Egipto, los que moraban en Migdol, en Tafnes^a, en Menfis^1b y en la tierra de Patros^c, diciendo: 2 Así dice el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: «Vosotros habéis visto toda la calamidad que he traído sobre Jerusalén y sobre todas las ciudades de Judá, y que he aquí, hoy están en ruinas y no hay en ellas morador^a, 3 a causa de la maldad que ellos cometieron^a para provocarme a ira^b, quemando constantemente sacrificios¹ y sirviendo a otros dioses que no habían conocido, ni ellos, ni vosotros, ni vuestros padres^c. 4 Con todo, os envié a todos mis siervos los profetas repetidas veces^1a, diciendo: “No hagáis ahora esta cosa abominable que yo aborrezco^b”. 5 Pero no escucharon ni inclinaron su oído para apartarse de su maldad, para dejar de quemar sacrificios a otros dioses^a. 6 Por tanto, se derramó mi ira y mi furor y ardió en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén^a, que fueron convertidas en ruinas y en desolación^b, como lo están hoy. 7 Ahora pues, así dice el SEÑOR Dios de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: “¿Por qué os hacéis un daño tan grande a vosotros mismos^a cortando de entre vosotros a hombre y mujer, niño^b y lactante de en medio de Judá, sin que os quede remanente, 8 provocándome a ira con la obra de vuestras manos, quemando sacrificios a otros dioses^a en la tierra de Egipto^b, adonde habéis entrado a residir, de modo que seáis exterminados y vengáis a ser maldición y oprobio entre todas las naciones de la tierra^c? 9 ¿Habéis olvidado las maldades de vuestros padres, las maldades de los reyes de Judá y las maldades de sus mujeres, vuestras propias maldades y las maldades de vuestras mujeres, que cometieron en la tierra de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén^a? 10 Pero hasta hoy no se han humillado^1a, ni han temido, ni han andado en mi ley ni en mis estatutos que puse delante de vosotros^b y delante de vuestros padres”».

11 Por tanto, así dice el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: «He aquí, volveré el rostro contra vosotros para mal^a, y para destruir a todo Judá. 12 Y quitaré el remanente de Judá que ha decidido¹ entrar en la tierra de Egipto para residir allí, y serán acabados en la tierra de Egipto; caerán a espada, por el hambre serán acabados^a. Tanto el pequeño como el grande morirán a espada y de hambre^b; seréis motivo de maldición, de horror, de imprecación y de oprobio^c. 13 Y castigaré a los que moran en la tierra de Egipto, como he castigado a Jerusalén, con espada, con hambre^a y con pestilencia. 14 Y no quedará quien escape ni quien sobreviva del remanente de Judá que ha entrado en la tierra de Egipto^a para residir allí, para luego volver a la tierra de Judá a la cual añoran volver¹ a fin de morar allí^b, porque ninguno volverá^c, excepto algunos fugitivos».

15 Entonces todos los hombres que sabían que sus mujeres quemaban sacrificios a otros dioses, junto con todas las mujeres que estaban presentes, una gran multitud, y todo el pueblo^a que moraba en la tierra de Egipto, en Patros, respondieron a Jeremías, diciendo: 16 En cuanto al mensaje^1a que nos has hablado en el nombre del SEÑOR, no vamos a escucharte^b, 17 sino que ciertamente cumpliremos toda palabra que ha salido de nuestra boca^a, y quemaremos¹ sacrificios a la reina del cielo^b, derramándole libaciones, como hacíamos nosotros, nuestros padres, nuestros reyes y nuestros príncipes en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén^c. Entonces teníamos bastante alimento^2d, prosperábamos y no veíamos mal alguno. 18 Pero desde que dejamos de quemar sacrificios a la reina del cielo y derramarle libaciones, carecemos de todo^a, y por la espada y por el hambre hemos sido acabados. 19 Y, dijeron las mujeres, cuando nosotras quemábamos sacrificios a la reina del cielo^a y le derramábamos libaciones, ¿acaso sin saberlo nuestros maridos^b le hacíamos tortas con su imagen¹ y le derramábamos libaciones?

20 Entonces Jeremías habló a todo el pueblo, a hombres y a mujeres, a todo el pueblo que así le respondía, diciendo: 21 En cuanto a los sacrificios que habéis quemado en las ciudades^a de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén^b, vosotros y vuestros padres, vuestros reyes y vuestros príncipes y el pueblo de la tierra, ¿no se ha acordado el SEÑOR de ellos, y no ha venido esto a su mente^1c? 22 El SEÑOR no pudo soportar más, a causa de la maldad de vuestras obras^a y a causa de las abominaciones que habíais cometido^b; por eso vuestra tierra fue convertida en ruinas, objeto de horror y maldición, sin habitantes^c, como está hoy. 23 Porque quemasteis sacrificios y pecasteis contra el SEÑOR y no obedecisteis la voz del SEÑOR ni anduvisteis en su ley^a, ni en sus estatutos, ni en sus testimonios, por tanto, os ha sobrevenido esta calamidad^b, como sucede hoy^c. 24 Entonces Jeremías dijo a todo el pueblo y a todas las mujeres: Oíd la palabra del SEÑOR^a, todo Judá, los que estáis en la tierra de Egipto^b: 25 Así dice el SEÑOR^a de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel¹: «Vosotros y vuestras mujeres habéis hablado con vuestra boca y lo habéis realizado con vuestras manos, diciendo: “Ciertamente cumpliremos los votos que hemos hecho de quemar sacrificios a la reina del cielo y de derramarle libaciones^b”. ¡Id a cumplir² vuestros votos! ¡Poned por obra vuestros votos!». 26 Pero¹ oíd la palabra del SEÑOR, todo Judá, los que habitáis en la tierra de Egipto: «He aquí, he jurado por mi gran nombre»—dice el SEÑOR^a— «que nunca más será invocado mi nombre^b en toda la tierra de Egipto por boca de ningún hombre de Judá, diciendo: “Vive el Señor DIOS^2c”. 27 He aquí, velo sobre ellos para mal y no para bien^a, y serán acabados todos los hombres de Judá que están en la tierra de Egipto por la espada y por el hambre hasta que sean totalmente exterminados^1b. 28 Y los que escapen de la espada, pocos en número¹, volverán de la tierra de Egipto a la tierra de Judá^a. Entonces sabrá todo el remanente de Judá que ha ido a la tierra de Egipto^b para residir allí, qué palabra ha de permanecer, si la mía^c o la de ellos. 29 Y esta será la señal para vosotros»—declara el SEÑOR^a— «de que os voy a castigar en este lugar, para que sepáis que ciertamente mis palabras permanecerán^b para mal contra vosotros». 30 Así dice el SEÑOR: «He aquí, entregaré a Faraón Hofra, rey de Egipto, en manos de sus enemigos, en manos de los que buscan su vida, así como entregué a Sedequías, rey de Judá, en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia^a, su enemigo, que buscaba su vida^b».

The word that came to Jeremiah for all the Jews living in the land of Egypt, those who were living in ^aMigdol, ^bTahpanhes, ^cMemphis, and the land of ^dPathros, saying, 2 “This is what the LORD of armies, the God of Israel says: ‘You yourselves have seen all the disaster that I have brought on Jerusalem and all the cities of Judah; and behold, this day they are in ^aruins and no one lives in them, 3 ^abecause of their wickedness which they committed to ^bprovoke Me to anger by continuing to ^cburn ¹sacrifices and to ^dserve other gods whom they had not known, neither they, you, nor your fathers. 4 Yet I ^asent you all My servants the prophets again and again, saying, “Oh, do not do this ^babominable thing which I hate.” 5 But ^athey did not listen or incline their ears to turn from their wickedness, so as not to burn ¹sacrifices to other gods. 6 Therefore My ^awrath and My anger gushed out and burned in the ^bcities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, so they have become ruins and a ^cdesolation as it is this day. 7 Now then, this is what the LORD God of armies, the God of Israel says: “Why are you ^adoing great harm to yourselves, to ^beliminate from yourselves man and woman, child and infant from among Judah, leaving yourselves without a remnant, 8 ^aprovoking Me to anger with the works of your hands, ^bburning ¹sacrifices to other gods in the land of Egypt where you are entering to reside, so that you may be eliminated and become a ^ccurse and a disgrace among all the nations of the earth? 9 Have you forgotten the ^awickedness of your fathers, the wickedness of the kings of Judah and the wickedness of their wives, your own wickedness and the wickedness of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 10 Yet they ^ahave not become ¹contrite even to this day, nor have they feared, nor ^bwalked in My Law or My statutes, which I placed before you and before your fathers.”’

11 “Therefore this is what the LORD of armies, the God of Israel says: ‘Behold, I am going to ^aset My face against you for a disaster, even to eliminate all Judah. 12 And I will ^atake away the remnant of Judah who have set their ¹minds on entering the land of Egypt to reside there, and they will all ^2bmeet their end in the land of Egypt; they will fall by the sword or meet their end by famine. From the small to the great, they will die by the sword and famine; and they will become a ^ccurse, an object of horror, ³an imprecation, and a disgrace. 13 And I will ^apunish those who live in the land of Egypt, just as I have punished Jerusalem, with the sword, with famine, and with plague. 14 So there will be ^ano survivor or refugee for the remnant of Judah who have entered the land of Egypt to reside there and then to return to the land of Judah, to which they are ^1blonging to return to live; for none will ^creturn except a few refugees.’”

15 Then ^aall the men who were aware that their wives were burning ¹sacrifices to other gods, along with all the women who were standing by, as a large assembly, ²including all the people who were living in Pathros in the land of Egypt, responded to Jeremiah, saying, 16 “As for the ^1amessage that you have spoken to us in the name of the LORD, ^bwe are not going to listen to you! 17 But we will certainly ^acarry out every word that has proceeded from our mouths, ¹by burning ²sacrifices to the ^bqueen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, just as ^cwe ourselves, our forefathers, our kings, and our leaders did in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then we had ^dplenty of ³food and were well off and saw no ⁴misfortune. 18 But since we stopped burning ¹sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have ^alacked everything, and have met our end by the sword and by famine.” 19 “And,” said the women, “when we were ^aburning ¹sacrifices to the queen of heaven and ²pouring out drink offerings to her, was it ^bwithout our husbands that we made for her sacrificial cakes ³in her image, and poured out drink offerings to her?”

20 Then Jeremiah said to all the people, to the men and women—even to all the people who were giving him such an answer—saying, 21 “As for the ^1asmoking sacrifices that you burned in the cities of Judah and in the ^bstreets of Jerusalem, you and your forefathers, your kings and your leaders, and the people of the land, did the LORD not ^cremember them, and did all of this not come into His ²mind? 22 So the LORD was ^ano longer able to endure it, ^bbecause of the evil of your deeds, because of the abominations which you have committed; so your land has become a ^cplace of ruins, an object of horror, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as it is this day. 23 Since you have burned ¹sacrifices and have sinned against the LORD and ^anot obeyed the voice of the LORD nor ^bwalked in His Law, His statutes, or His testimonies, therefore this ^cdisaster has happened to you, as it has this day.”

24 Then Jeremiah said to all the people, including all the women, “^aHear the word of the LORD, all Judah who are ^bin the land of Egypt! 25 This is what the LORD of armies, the God of Israel ¹says: ‘As for you and your wives, you have spoken with your mouths and fulfilled it with your hands, saying, “We will ^acertainly perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn ²sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her.” ^bBy all means fulfill your vows, and be sure to perform your vows!’ 26 ¹In return, hear the word of the LORD, all Judah who are living in the land of Egypt: ‘Behold, I have ^asworn by My great name,’ says the LORD, ‘that My name shall ^bnever be invoked again by the mouth of anyone of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, “^cAs the Lord ²GOD lives.” 27 Behold, I am watching over them ^afor harm and not for good, and ^ball the people of Judah who are in the land of Egypt will ¹meet their end by the sword or by famine until they ²are completely gone. 28 ^aThose who escape the sword will return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah ^1bfew in number. Then all the remnant of Judah who have gone to the land of Egypt to reside there will know ^cwhose word will stand, Mine or theirs. 29 And this will be the ^asign to you,’ declares the LORD, ‘that I am going to punish you in this place, so that you may know that ^bMy words will assuredly stand against you for harm.’ 30 This is what the LORD says: ‘Behold, I am going to hand ^aPharaoh Hophra king of Egypt over to his enemies, to those who seek his life, just as I handed ^bZedekiah king of Judah over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who was his enemy and was seeking his life.’”
