Profecía sobre¹^a Babilonia^b que tuvo en visión Isaías, hijo de Amoz^c.

2 Levantad estandarte^a sobre la colina pelada¹^b,alzad a ellos la voz,agitad la mano^c para que entren por las puertas de los nobles^d.3 Yo he dado órdenes a mis consagrados,también he llamado a mis guerreros^a,a los que se regocijan de mi gloria,para ejecutar mi ira.4 Ruido de tumulto en los montes,como de mucha gente.Ruido de estruendo de reinos,de naciones reunidas^a.El SEÑOR de los ejércitos pasa revista al ejército para la batalla.5 Vienen de una tierra lejana,de los más lejanos horizontes¹^a,el SEÑOR y los instrumentos de su indignación^b,para destruir toda la tierra^c.6 Gemid, porque cerca está el día del SEÑOR^a;vendrá como destrucción del Todopoderoso¹^b.7 Por tanto todas las manos se debilitarán^a,el corazón de todo hombre desfallecerá¹^b,8 y se aterrarán^a;dolores y angustias se apoderarán de ellos,como mujer de parto se retorcerán^b;se mirarán el uno al otro con asombro,rostros en llamas serán sus rostros.9 He aquí, el día del SEÑOR viene^a,cruel, con furia y ardiente ira,para convertir en desolación la tierray exterminar de ella a sus pecadores.10 Pues las estrellas del cielo y sus constelacionesno destellarán su luz;se oscurecerá el sol al salir,y la luna no irradiará su luz^a.11 Castigaré¹ al mundo por su maldad^ay a los impíos por su iniquidad^b;también pondré fin a la arrogancia de los soberbios^c,y abatiré la altivez^d de los despiadados²^e.12 Haré al mortal más escaso¹^a que el oro puro,y a la humanidad más que el oro de Ofir^b.13 Por tanto, haré estremecer los cielos^a,y la tierra será removida de su lugar^bante la furia del SEÑOR de los ejércitos,en el día de su ardiente ira^c.14 Y será como gacela perseguida,o como ovejas que nadie reúne^a;cada uno volverá a su pueblo,y cada uno huirá a su tierra.15 Cualquiera que sea hallado será traspasado,y cualquiera que sea capturado caerá a espada^a.16 También sus pequeños serán estrelladosdelante de sus ojos^a;serán saqueadas sus casasy violadas sus mujeres.

17 He aquí, incitaré contra ellos a los medos^a,que no estiman la plata ni se deleitan en el oro^b;18 con arcos barrerán¹ a los jóvenes,no tendrán compasión del fruto del vientre,ni de los niños² tendrán piedad sus ojos^a.19 Y Babilonia, hermosura de los reinos, gloria del orgullo de los caldeos^a,será como cuando Dios destruyó a Sodoma y a Gomorra^b;20 nunca más será poblada ni habitada de generación en generación^a;no pondrá tienda allí el árabe,ni los pastores harán descansar allí sus rebaños^b;21 sino que allí descansarán los moradores del desierto,y llenas estarán sus casas de búhos¹;también habitarán allí los avestruces, y allí brincarán las cabras peludas²^a.22 Aullarán las hienas¹ en sus torres fortificadasy los chacales en sus lujosos palacios^a.Está próximo a llegar su tiempo,y sus días no se prolongarán.

Prophecies about Babylon

The ^apronouncement concerning ^bBabylon which ^cIsaiah the son of Amoz saw:

2 ^aLift up a flag on the ¹^bbare hill,Raise your voice to them,^cWave the hand that they may ^denter the doors of the nobles.3 I have commanded My consecrated ones,I have also called for My ^awarriorsWho boast in My eminence,To execute My anger.4 A ^asound of a roar on the mountains,Like that of many people!A sound of an uproar of kingdoms,Of nations gathered together!The LORD of armies is mustering the army for battle.5 They are coming from a distant country,From the ¹^afarthest horizons,The LORD and the weapons of His ^bindignation,To ^cdestroy the whole land.

Judgment on the Day of the LORD

6 Wail, for the ^aday of the LORD is near!It will come as ^bdestruction from ¹the Almighty.7 Therefore ^aall hands will fall limp,And every human ^bheart will melt.8 They will be ^aterrified,Pains and anguish will take hold of them;They will ^bwrithe like a woman in labor,They will look at one another in astonishment,Their faces aflame.9 Behold, ^athe day of the LORD is coming,Cruel, with fury and burning anger,To make the land a desolation;And He will exterminate its sinners from it.10 For the ^astars of heaven and their constellationsWill not flash their light;The ^bsun will be dark when it risesAnd the moon will not shed its light.11 So I will ^apunish the world for its evilAnd the ^bwicked for their wrongdoing;I will also put an end to the ^caudacity of the proudAnd humiliate the ^darrogance of the ¹^etyrants.12 I will make mortal man ^ascarcer than pure goldAnd mankind than the ^bgold of Ophir.13 Therefore I will make the ^aheavens tremble,And ^bthe earth will be shaken from its placeAt the fury of the LORD of armiesIn ^cthe day of His burning anger.14 And it will be that, like a hunted gazelle,Or like ^asheep with no one to gather them,Each of them will turn to his own people,And each of them will flee to his own land.15 Anyone who is found will be ^athrust through,And anyone who is captured will fall by the sword.16 Their ^alittle ones also will be dashed to piecesBefore their eyes;Their houses will be plunderedAnd their wives raped.

Babylon Will Fall to the Medes

17 Behold, I am going to ^astir up the Medes against them,Who will not value silver or ^btake pleasure in gold.18 And their bows will ¹mow down the ^ayoung men,They will not even have compassion on the fruit of the womb,Nor will their ^beye pity ²children.19 And ^aBabylon, the ^bbeauty of kingdoms, the glory of the Chaldeans’ pride,Will be as when God ^coverthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.20 It will ^anever be inhabited or lived in from generation to generation;Nor will the ^bArab pitch his tent there,Nor will shepherds allow their flocks to lie down there.21 But ^adesert creatures will lie down there,And their houses will be full of ¹owls;Ostriches also will live there, and ²shaggy goats will frolic there.22 ¹Hyenas will howl in their fortified towersAnd jackals in their luxurious ^apalaces.Her fateful time also ²will soon come,And her days will not be prolonged.
