Israel es un viñedo frondoso^a,dando fruto para sí mismo;según la abundancia de su fruto,así multiplicaba los altares^b;cuanto más rica¹ era su tierra,más hermosos hacían sus pilares sagrados^c.2 Su corazón es infiel¹^a;ahora serán hallados culpables^b;el Señor² derribará sus altaresy destruirá sus pilares sagrados^c.

3 Ciertamente ahora dirán: No tenemos rey,porque no hemos temido al SEÑOR.Y el rey, ¿qué haría por nosotros^a?4 Hablan meras palabras,hacen pactos con juramentos vanos¹^a,y el juicio brotará como hierbas venenosas en los surcos del campo^b.5 Por el becerro¹^a de Bet-avén^btemerán los habitantes de Samaria.En verdad, por él hará duelo su pueblo,y sus sacerdotes idólatras^c se lamentarán a causa de él,porque de él se ha alejado su gloria²^d.6 También el becerro¹ será llevado a Asiria^acomo tributo al rey Jareb²^b;Efraín se cubrirá de vergüenza³^c,e Israel se avergonzará de su consejo^d.7 Samaria será destruida con su rey^a,como una astilla¹ sobre la superficie del agua.8 También serán destruidos los lugares altos de Avén^a, el pecado de Israel^b;espinos y abrojos^c crecerán sobre sus altares.Entonces dirán a los montes:¡Cubridnos!, y a los collados: ¡Caed sobre nosotros^d!9 Desde los días de Guibeá has pecado, oh Israel;¡allí se han quedado!¿No los alcanzará en Guibeá la batalla contra los hijos de la iniquidad?10 Cuando yo lo desee^a, los castigaré¹^b;y se juntarán pueblos contra ellos^ccuando sean castigados² por su doble iniquidad.

11 Efraín es una novilla domesticada que le gusta trillar^a,pero yo pasaré un yugo sobre su hermosa cerviz^b;unciré a Efraín,arará Judá, rastrillará Jacob por sí mismo.12 Sembrad para vosotros según la justicia^a,segad conforme a la misericordia¹;romped el barbecho^b,porque es tiempo de buscar al SEÑOR^chasta que venga a enseñaros justicia²^d.13 Habéis arado iniquidad^a, habéis segado injusticia,habéis comido fruto de mentira^b.Porque has confiado en tu camino, en la multitud de tus guerreros^c,14 se levantará un tumulto entre tu pueblo,y todas tus fortalezas serán destruidas^a,como Salmán destruyó a Bet-arbel el día de la batalla,cuando las madres fueron despedazadas con sus hijos^b.15 Así os será hecho en Betel¹ a causa de vuestra gran iniquidad.Al amanecer, el rey de Israel será totalmente destruido.

Retribution for Israel’s Sin

Israel is a luxuriant ^avine;He produces fruit for himself.The more his fruit,The more altars he ^bmade;The ¹richer his land,The better ²he made the ^cmemorial stones.2 Their heart is ¹^adeceitful;Now they must suffer for their ^bguilt.²The LORD will ^cbreak down their altarsAnd destroy their memorial stones.

3 Certainly now they will say, “We have ^ano king,For we do not revere the LORD.As for the king, what can he do for us?”4 They speak mere words,¹With ^aworthless oaths they make covenants;And ^bjudgment sprouts like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field.5 The inhabitants of Samaria will fearFor the ¹^acalf of ^bBeth-aven.Indeed, its people will mourn for it,And its ^cidolatrous priests ²will cry out over it,Over its ^dglory, since it has left it.6 The thing itself will be brought to ^aAssyriaAs a gift of tribute to ¹^bKing Jareb;Ephraim will ²be ^cseized with shame,And Israel will be ashamed of its ^down plan.7 Samaria will be ^adestroyed with her king,Like a twig on the surface of the water.8 Also the ^ahigh places of Aven, the ^bsin of Israel, will be destroyed;^cThorns and thistles will grow on their altars;Then they will ^dsay to the mountains,“Cover us!” And to the hills, “Fall on us!”9 Since the days of Gibeah you have sinned, Israel;There they stand!Will the battle against the sons of injustice not overtake them in Gibeah?10 When it is My ^adesire, I will ¹^bdiscipline them;And ^cthe peoples will be gathered against themWhen they are bound for their double guilt.

11 Ephraim is a trained ^aheifer that loves to thresh,¹And I ^bpassed over her lovely neck;I will harness Ephraim,Judah will plow, Jacob will ²harrow for himself.12 ^aSow for yourselves, with a view to righteousness;Harvest in accordance with ¹kindness.^bBreak up your uncultivated ground,For it is time to ^cseek the LORDUntil He ^dcomes and ^erains righteousness on you.13 You have ^aplowed wickedness, you have harvested injustice,You have eaten the fruit of ^blies.Because you have trusted in your way, in your ^cmany warriors,14 An uproar will arise among your people,And all your ^afortresses will be destroyed,As Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel on the day of battle,When ^bmothers were ¹slaughtered with their children.15 So it will be done to you at Bethel because of your great wickedness.At dawn the king of Israel will be completely destroyed.
