Sed, pues, imitadores de Dios^a como hijos amados; 2 y andad en amor^a, así como también Cristo os¹ amó^b y se dio a sí mismo por nosotros^c, ofrenda y sacrificio a Dios^d, como fragante aroma^2e.

3 Pero que la inmoralidad, y toda impureza o avaricia, ni siquiera se mencionen entre vosotros^a, como corresponde a los santos; 4 ni obscenidades, ni necedades^a, ni groserías, que no son apropiadas^b, sino más bien acciones de gracias^c. 5 Porque con certeza sabéis esto: que ningún inmoral, impuro, o avaro, que es idólatra^a, tiene herencia en el reino de Cristo^b y de Dios. 6 Que nadie os engañe con palabras vanas^a, pues por causa de estas cosas la ira de Dios^b viene sobre los hijos de desobediencia^c. 7 Por tanto, no seáis partícipes con ellos^a; 8 porque antes erais^a tinieblas, pero ahora sois luz^b en el Señor; andad como hijos de la luz^c 9 (porque el fruto de la luz^1a consiste en toda bondad^b, justicia y verdad), 10 examinando qué es lo que agrada al Señor^a. 11 Y no participéis en las obras estériles de las tinieblas^a, sino más bien, desenmascaradlas^1b; 12 porque es vergonzoso aun hablar de las cosas que ellos hacen en secreto. 13 Pero todas las cosas se hacen visibles cuando son expuestas¹ por la luz, pues todo lo que se hace visible es luz^2a. 14 Por esta razón dice:Despierta, tú que duermes^a,y levántate de entre los muertos^b,y te alumbrará Cristo^c.

15 Por tanto, tened cuidado¹ cómo andáis^a; no como insensatos, sino como sabios^b, 16 aprovechando bien¹ el tiempo^a, porque los días son malos^b. 17 Así pues, no seáis necios, sino entended cuál es la voluntad del Señor^a. 18 Y no os embriaguéis con vino^a, en lo cual hay disolución^b, sino sed llenos del Espíritu^c, 19 hablando entre vosotros con salmos^a, himnos^b y cantos espirituales^c, cantando^d y alabando con vuestro corazón al Señor^e; 20 dando siempre gracias por todo, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, a Dios, el Padre^1a; 21 sometiéndoos unos a otros^a en el temor¹ de Cristo^b.

22 ^aLas mujeres estén sometidas a sus propios maridos^b como al Señor^c. 23 Porque el marido es cabeza de la mujer^a, así como Cristo es cabeza de la iglesia^b, siendo Él mismo el Salvador del cuerpo^c. 24 Pero así como la iglesia está sujeta a Cristo, también las mujeres deben estarlo a sus maridos en todo. 25 Maridos, amad a vuestras mujeres^a, así como Cristo amó a la iglesia y se dio a sí mismo por ella^b, 26 para santificarla^a, habiéndola purificado^b por el lavamiento del agua^c con la palabra^d, 27 a fin de presentársela a sí mismo, una¹ iglesia en toda su gloria², sin que tenga mancha ni arruga ni cosa semejante, sino que fuera santa e inmaculada^a. 28 Así también deben amar los maridos a sus mujeres, como a sus propios cuerpos. El que ama a su mujer, a sí mismo se ama^a. 29 Porque nadie aborreció jamás su propio cuerpo¹, sino que lo sustenta y lo cuida, así como también Cristo a la iglesia; 30 porque somos miembros de su cuerpo^1a. 31 POR ESTO EL HOMBRE DEJARÁ A SU PADRE Y A SU MADRE, Y SE UNIRÁ A SU MUJER, Y LOS DOS SERÁN UNA SOLA CARNE^a. 32 Grande es este misterio, pero hablo con referencia a Cristo y a la iglesia. 33 En todo caso, cada uno de vosotros ame también a su mujer como a sí mismo^a, y que la mujer respete¹ a su marido^b.

^aTherefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; 2 and ^awalk in love, just as Christ also ^bloved ¹you and ^cgave Himself up for us, an ^doffering and a sacrifice to God ²as a ^efragrant aroma.

3 But ^asexual immorality ¹or any impurity or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is proper among ²saints; 4 and there must be no ^afilthiness ¹or foolish talk, or vulgar joking, which ^bare not fitting, but rather ^cgiving of thanks. 5 For this you know with certainty, that ^ano sexually immoral or ¹impure or greedy person, which ²amounts to an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom ^bof Christ and God.

6 ^aSee that no one deceives you with empty words, for because of these things ^bthe wrath of God comes upon ^cthe ¹sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not become ^apartners with them; 8 for ^ayou were once ^bdarkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as ^cchildren of light 9 (for ^athe fruit of the light consists in all ^bgoodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 ^1aas you try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 ^aDo not participate in the useless ^bdeeds of ^cdarkness, but instead even ^dexpose them; 12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things become visible ^awhen they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. 14 For this reason ¹it says,“^aAwake, sleeper,And arise from ^bthe dead,And Christ ^cwill shine on you.”

15 So then, ¹be careful how you ^awalk, not ^bas unwise people but as wise, 16 ^1amaking the most of your time, because ^bthe days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but ^aunderstand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And ^ado not get drunk with wine, ¹in which there is ^bdebauchery, but be ^cfilled with the Spirit, 19 ^aspeaking to ¹one another in ^bpsalms and ^chymns and spiritual ^dsongs, ^esinging and making melody with your hearts to the Lord; 20 ^aalways giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to our ^bGod and Father; 21 ^1aand subject yourselves to one another in the ^2bfear of Christ.

22 ^aWives, ^bsubject yourselves to your own husbands, ^cas to the Lord. 23 For ^athe husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the ^bhead of the church, He Himself ^cbeing the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.

25 ^aHusbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and ^bgave Himself up for her, 26 ^aso that He might sanctify her, having ^bcleansed her by the ^cwashing of water with ^dthe word, 27 that He might ^apresent to Himself the church ¹in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be ^bholy and blameless. 28 So husbands also ought to ^alove their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; 29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, 30 because we are ^aparts of His ^bbody. 31 ^aFOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND HIS MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH. 32 This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless, as for you individually, each husband is to ^alove his own wife the same as himself, and the wife must see to it that she ^brespects her husband.
