Al cabo de cada siete años harás remisión de deudas^a. 2 Así se hará¹ la remisión: todo acreedor² hará remisión de lo que haya prestado a su prójimo; no lo exigirá de su prójimo ni de su hermano, porque se ha proclamado la remisión del SEÑOR. 3 De un extranjero lo puedes exigir, mas tu mano perdonará¹ cualquier cosa tuya que tu hermano tenga^2a. 4 Y no habrá menesteroso entre vosotros, ya que el SEÑOR de cierto te bendecirá en la tierra que el SEÑOR tu Dios te da por heredad para poseerla^a, 5 sisolo escuchas fielmente la voz del SEÑOR tu Dios, para guardar cuidadosamente todo este mandamiento que te ordeno hoy. 6 Pues el SEÑOR tu Dios te bendecirá como te ha prometido, y tú prestarás a muchas naciones, pero tú no tomarás prestado; y tendrás dominio sobre muchas naciones, pero ellas no tendrán dominio sobre ti^a.

7 Si hay un menesteroso contigo, uno de tus hermanos, en cualquiera de tus ciudades^1a en la tierra que el SEÑOR tu Dios te da, no endurecerás tu corazón, ni cerrarás tu mano a tu hermano pobre^b, 8 sino que le abrirás libremente tu mano^a, y con generosidad le prestarás lo que le haga falta para cubrir sus necesidades. 9 Cuídate de que no haya pensamiento perverso¹ en tu corazón, diciendo: «El séptimo año, el año de remisión, está cerca^a», y mires con malos ojos a² tu hermano pobre, y no le des nada^b; porque³ él podrá clamar al SEÑOR contra ti, y esto te será pecado^c. 10 Con generosidad le darás, y no te dolerá el corazón cuando le des, ya que el SEÑOR tu Dios te bendecirá por esto en todo tu trabajo y en todo lo que emprendas^1a. 11 Porque nunca faltarán pobres en tu¹ tierra^a; por eso te ordeno, diciendo: «Con liberalidad abrirás tu mano a tu hermano, al² necesitado y al³ pobre en tu tierra».

12 Si un hermano tuyo, hebreo o hebrea, te es vendido, te servirá por seis años, pero al séptimo año lo pondrás en libertad^1a. 13 Y cuando lo libertes, no lo enviarás con las manos vacías. 14 Le abastecerás liberalmente de tu rebaño, de tu era y de tu lagar; le darás conforme te haya bendecido el SEÑOR tu Dios. 15 Y te acordarás que fuiste esclavo en la tierra de Egipto, y que el SEÑOR tu Dios te redimió; por eso te ordeno esto hoy. 16 Y sucederá que si él te dice: «No me iré de tu lado», porque te ama a ti y a tu casa, pues le va bien contigo, 17 entonces tomarás una lezna y horadarás su oreja contra la puerta, y será tu siervo para siempre^a. Y lo mismo harás a tu sierva. 18 No te parezca duro cuando lo dejes en libertad¹, porque te ha dado seis años con el doble del servicio² de un jornalero; y el SEÑOR tu Dios te bendecirá en todo lo que hagas.

19 Todo primogénito que nazca de tu ganado y de tu rebaño consagrarás al SEÑOR tu Dios^a; no trabajarás con el primogénito de tu ganado ni trasquilarás el primogénito de tu rebaño. 20 Lo comerás tú y tu casa cada año delante del SEÑOR tu Dios^a en el lugar que el SEÑOR escoja. 21 Pero si tiene algún defecto, si es cojo o ciego o con cualquier otro defecto grave, no lo sacrificarás al SEÑOR tu Dios^a. 22 Lo comerás dentro de tus ciudades¹; el inmundo lo mismo que el limpio pueden comerlo, como se come una gacela o un ciervo^a. 23 Solo que no comerás su sangre; la derramarás como agua sobre la tierra^a.

“^aAt the end of every seven years you shall ¹grant a release of debts. 2 And this is the regulation for the release of debts: every creditor is to forgive what he has loaned to his neighbor; he shall not require it of his neighbor and his brother, because the LORD’S release has been proclaimed. 3 ^aFrom a foreigner you may require it, but your hand shall ¹forgive whatever of yours is with your brother. 4 However, there will be no poor among you, since ^athe LORD will certainly bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance to possess, 5 if only you listen obediently to the voice of the LORD your God, to ¹follow carefully all this commandment which I am commanding you today. 6 ^aFor the LORD your God will have blessed you just as He has promised you, and you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow; and you will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you.

7 “If there is ^aa poor person among you, one of your brothers, in any of your ¹towns in your land which the LORD your God is giving you, ^byou shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand from your poor brother; 8 but ^ayou shall fully open your hand to him, and generously lend him enough for his need in whatever he lacks. 9 Be careful that there is no mean-spirited ¹thought in your heart, ²such as, ‘^aThe seventh year, the year of release of debts, is near,’ and ^byour eye is malicious toward your poor brother, and you give him nothing; then he ^cmay cry out to the LORD against you, and it will be a sin in you. 10 You shall generously give to him, and your heart shall not be ¹grudging when you give to him, because ^afor this thing the LORD your God will bless you in all your work, and in all ²your undertakings. 11 ^aFor the poor will not cease ¹to exist in the land; therefore I am commanding you, saying, ‘You shall fully open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land.’

12 “^aIf your fellow countryman, a Hebrew man or woman, is sold to you, then he shall serve you for six years, but in the seventh year you shall set him ¹free. 13 And when you set him ¹free, you shall not send him away empty-handed. 14 You shall give generously to him from your flock, your threshing floor, and from your wine vat; you shall give to him as the LORD your God has blessed you. 15 And you are to remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you; therefore I am commanding ¹this of you today. 16 But it shall come about, ^aif he says to you, ‘I will not leave you,’ because he loves you and your household, since he is doing well with you, 17 then you shall take an ¹awl and pierce it through his ear into the door, and he shall be your servant permanently. You shall also do the same to your female slave.

18 “It shall not seem difficult for you when you set him ¹free, because he has given you six years with double the ²service of a hired worker; so the LORD your God will bless you in whatever you do.

19 “^aYou shall consecrate to the LORD your God all the firstborn males that are born in your herd and in your flock; you shall not work with the firstborn of your herd, nor shear the firstborn of your flock. 20 ^aYou and your household shall eat it every year before the LORD your God in the place which the LORD chooses. 21 ^aBut if it has any impairment, such as a limp, or blindness, or any serious impairment, you shall not sacrifice it to the LORD your God. 22 You shall eat it within your gates; ^athe unclean and the clean alike may eat it, as ^ba gazelle or a deer. 23 Only ^ayou shall not eat its blood; you are to pour it out on the ground like water.
