Vosotros sois hijos del SEÑOR vuestro Dios^a; no os sajaréis ni os rasuraréis la frente^1b a causa de un muerto. 2 Porque eres pueblo santo para el SEÑOR tu Dios^a; y el SEÑOR te ha escogido para que le seas un pueblo de su exclusiva posesión¹ de entre los pueblos que están sobre la faz de la tierra^b.

3 No comerás nada abominable^a. 4 ^aEstos son los animales que podréis comer: el buey, la oveja, la cabra, 5 ¹el ciervo, la gacela, el corzo, la cabra montés, el íbice, el antílope y el carnero montés. 6 Y cualquier animal de pezuña dividida que tenga la pezuña hendida en dos mitades¹ y que rumie², lo podréis comer. 7 Peroestos no comeréis de entre los que rumian o de entre los que tienen la pezuña dividida en dos¹: el camello, el conejo² y el damán³; pues aunque rumian, no tienen la pezuña dividida; para vosotros serán inmundos. 8 Y el cerdo, aunque tiene la pezuña dividida, no rumia; será inmundo para vosotros. No comeréis de su carne ni tocaréis sus cadáveres.

9 De todo lo que vive en el agua,estos podréis comer: todos los que tienen aletas y escamas, 10 pero no comeréis nada que no tenga aletas ni escamas; será inmundo para vosotros.

11 Toda ave limpia podréis comer. 12 Peroestas no comeréis: el águila¹, el buitre y el buitre negro^a; 13 el azor, el halcón y el milano según su especie; 14 todo cuervo según su especie; 15 el avestruz, la lechuza, la gaviota y el gavilán según su especie; 16 el búho, el búho real, la lechuza blanca, 17 el pelícano, el buitre, el somormujo, 18 la cigüeña y la garza según su especie; la abubilla y el murciélago. 19 Todo insecto alado será inmundo para vosotros; no se comerá. 20 Toda ave limpia podréis comer.

21 No comeréis ningún animal que se muera^a. Lo podrás dar al forastero que está en tus ciudades¹, para que lo coma, o lo podrás vender a un extranjero, porque tú eres un pueblo santo al SEÑOR tu Dios^b. No cocerás el cabrito en la leche de su madre^c.

22 Diezmarás fielmente todo el producto de tu sementera^1a, lo que rinde tu campo cada año. 23 Y comerás en la presencia del SEÑOR tu Dios, en el lugar que Él escoja para poner allí su nombre^a, el diezmo de tu grano, de tu mosto y de tu aceite, y los primogénitos de tus vacas y de tus ovejas, para que aprendas a temer siempre al SEÑOR tu Dios^b. 24 Mas si el camino es tan largo para ti, que seas incapaz de llevar el diezmo por estar lejos el lugar donde el SEÑOR tu Dios escoja para poner allí su nombre^a, cuando el SEÑOR tu Dios te haya bendecido, 25 entonces lo cambiarás por dinero¹, y atarás el dinero en tu mano e irás al lugar que el SEÑOR tu Dios escoja. 26 Y podrás gastar el dinero en todo lo que tu corazón apetezca: en vacas u ovejas, en vino o sidra, o en cualquier otra cosa que tu corazón¹ desee²; allí comerás en presencia del SEÑOR tu Dios, y te alegrarás tú y tu casa^a. 27 Tampoco desampararás al levita que habite en tus ciudades^a, porque él no tiene parte ni heredad contigo^b.

28 Al fin de cada tercer año, sacarás todo el diezmo de tus productos de aquel año y lo depositarás en tus ciudades^a. 29 Y vendrá el levita, que no tiene parte ni herencia contigo^a, y el forastero, el huérfano y la viuda que habitan en tus ciudades^b, y comerán y se saciarán^c, para que el SEÑOR tu Dios te bendiga en toda obra que tu mano haga^d.

“You are ^asons of the LORD your God; ^byou shall not cut yourselves nor ¹shave a bald spot ²above your forehead for the dead. 2 For you are ^aa holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a ^bpeople for His personal possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

3 “^aYou shall not eat any detestable thing. 4 ^aThese are the animals that you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat, 5 ¹the deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the mountain sheep. 6 And any animal that has a divided hoof and has its hoofs split in two, and ¹chews the cud, among the animals, ²that animal you may eat. 7 However, you are not to eat these among the ones that ¹chew the cud, or among those that have the hoof divided in ²two: the camel, the ³rabbit, and the rock hyrax, for though they ⁴chew the cud, they do not have a divided hoof; they are unclean to you. 8 And the pig, because it has a divided hoof but does not chew the cud, it is unclean for you. You shall not eat any of their flesh, nor touch their carcasses.

9 “These you may eat of everything that is in the water: anything that has fins and scales you may eat, 10 but anything that does not have fins and scales, you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.

11 “You may eat any clean bird. 12 But ^athese are the ones that you shall not eat: the ¹eagle and the vulture and the ²buzzard, 13 and the red kite, the falcon, and the kite in their kinds, 14 and every raven in its kind, 15 and the ostrich, the owl, the seagull, and the hawk in their kinds, 16 the little owl, the ¹great owl, the white owl, 17 the pelican, the carrion vulture, the cormorant, 18 the stork, and the heron in their kinds, and the hoopoe and the bat. 19 And all the swarming insects with wings are unclean to you; they shall not be eaten. 20 You may eat any clean bird.

21 “^aYou shall not eat anything which dies of itself. You may give it to the stranger who is in your ¹town, so that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a stranger; for you are ^ba holy people to the LORD your God. ^cYou shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

22 “You ^ashall certainly tithe all the produce from ¹what you sow, which comes from the field every year. 23 You shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God, ^aat the place where He chooses to establish His name, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and your flock, so that you may ^blearn to fear the LORD your God always. 24 But if the ¹distance is so great for you that you are not able to ²bring the tithe, since the place where the LORD your God chooses ^ato set His name is too far away from you when the LORD your God blesses you, 25 then you shall ¹exchange it for money, and bind the money in your hand and go to the place which the LORD your God chooses. 26 And you may spend the money on whatever your ¹heart desires: on oxen, sheep, wine, other strong drink, or whatever your ²heart ³desires; and ^athere you shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice, you and your household. 27 Also you shall not neglect ^athe Levite who is in your ¹town, ^bfor he has no portion or inheritance among you.

28 “^aAt the end of every third year you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in that year, and you shall deposit it in your ¹town. 29 And the Levite, ^abecause he has no portion or inheritance among you, and ^bthe stranger, the ¹orphan, and the widow who are in your ²town, shall come and ^ceat and be satisfied, in order that ^dthe LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.
