Amarás, pues, al SEÑOR tu Dios^a, y guardarás siempre¹ sus mandatos^b, sus estatutos, sus ordenanzas y sus mandamientos. 2 Y comprended hoy que no estoy hablando con vuestros hijos, los cuales no han visto la disciplina¹ del SEÑOR vuestro Dios: su grandeza, su mano poderosa, su brazo extendido^a, 3 sus señales y sus obras que hizo en medio de Egipto a Faraón, rey de Egipto, y a toda su tierra^a; 4 lo que hizo al ejército de Egipto, a sus caballos y a sus carros, al hacer que el agua del mar Rojo¹ los cubriera² cuando os perseguían, y el SEÑOR los destruyó completamente^3a; 5 lo que os hizo en el desierto hasta que llegasteis a este lugar, 6 y lo que hizo a Datán y Abiram, los hijos de Eliab, hijo de Rubén, cuando la tierra abrió su boca y los tragó a ellos, a sus familias, a sus tiendas^a y a todo ser viviente¹ que los seguía², en medio de todo Israel^b. 7 Pero vuestros propios ojos han visto toda la gran obra que el SEÑOR ha hecho.

8 Guardad, pues, todos los mandamientos que os ordeno hoy, para que seáis fuertes, y entréis y toméis posesión de la tierra a la cual entráis para poseerla^a; 9 para que prolonguéis vuestros días en la tierra que el SEÑOR juró dar a vuestros padres y a su descendencia^1a, una tierra que mana leche y miel^b. 10 Porque la tierra a la cual entras para poseerla, no es como la tierra de Egipto de donde vinisteis, donde sembrabas tu semilla, y la regabas con el pie¹ como una huerta de hortalizas, 11 sino que la tierra a la cual entráis para poseerla, tierra de montes y valles^a, bebe el agua de las lluvias del cielo. 12 Es una tierra que el SEÑOR tu Dios cuida; los ojos del SEÑOR tu Dios están siempre sobre ella^a, desde el principio¹ hasta el fin del año.

13 ^aY sucederá que si obedecéis mis mandamientos que os ordeno hoy, de amar al SEÑOR vuestro Dios^b y de servirle con todo vuestro corazón y con toda vuestra alma^c, 14 El dará¹ a vuestra tierra la lluvia a su tiempo^a, lluvia temprana y lluvia tardía^2b, para que recojas tu grano, tu mosto y tu aceite. 15 Y Él dará hierba en tus campos para tu ganado^a, y comerás y te saciarás^b. 16 Cuidaos, no sea que se engañe vuestro corazón^a y os desviéis y sirváis a otros dioses, y los adoréis. 17 No sea que la ira del SEÑOR se encienda contra vosotros^a, y cierre los cielos y no haya lluvia^b y la tierra no produzca su fruto, y pronto perezcáis^c en¹ la buena tierra que el SEÑOR os da^d.

18 ^aGrabad¹, pues, estas mis palabras en vuestro corazón y en vuestra alma; atadlas como una señal a vuestra mano, y serán por insignias² entre vuestros ojos. 19 Y enseñadlas a vuestros hijos, hablando de ellas cuando te sientes en tu casa y cuando andes por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes^a. 20 Y escríbelas en los postes de tu casa y en tus puertas^a, 21 para que tus días y los días de tus hijos sean multiplicados^a en la tierra que el SEÑOR juró dar a tus padres, por todo el tiempo que los cielos¹ permanezcan sobre la tierra^b. 22 Porque si guardáis cuidadosamente todo este mandamiento que os ordeno^a para cumplirlo, amando al SEÑOR vuestro Dios^b, andando en todos sus caminos y allegándoos¹ a Él^c, 23 entonces el SEÑOR expulsará¹ de delante de vosotros a todas estas naciones^a, y vosotros desposeeréis a naciones más grandes y más poderosas que vosotros^b. 24 Todo lugar donde pise la planta de vuestro pie será vuestro^a; vuestras fronteras serán¹ desde el desierto hasta el Líbano, y desde el río, el río Eufrates, hasta el mar occidental^2b. 25 Nadie os podrá hacer frente^1a; el SEÑOR vuestro Dios infundirá, como Él os ha dicho, espanto y temor de vosotros en toda la tierra que pise vuestro pie.

26 He aquí, hoy pongo delante de vosotros una bendición y una maldición^a: 27 la bendición, si escucháis los mandamientos del SEÑOR vuestro Dios que os ordeno hoy^a; 28 y la maldición, si no escucháis los mandamientos del SEÑOR vuestro Dios^a, sino que os apartáis del camino que os ordeno hoy, para seguir a otros dioses que no habéis conocido. 29 Y acontecerá, que cuando el SEÑOR tu Dios te lleve a la tierra donde entras para poseerla, pondrás la bendición sobre el monte Gerizim y la maldición sobre el monte Ebal^a. 30 ¿No están ellos al otro lado del Jordán, detrás del camino del poniente, en la tierra de los cananeos que habitan en el Arabá, frente a Gilgal^a, junto al encinar¹ de More^b? 31 Porque vais a pasar el Jordán para ir a poseer la tierra que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios os da, y la tomaréis y habitaréis en ella^a; 32 y tendréis cuidado de cumplir todos los estatutos y decretos¹ que hoy pongo delante de vosotros.

“You shall therefore ^alove the LORD your God, and always ^bkeep His directive, His statutes, His ordinances, and His commandments. 2 Know this day ^athat I am not speaking with your sons who have not known and who have not seen the ¹discipline of the LORD your God—His greatness, His mighty hand, His outstretched arm, 3 and ^aHis signs and His works which He did in the midst of Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt and to all his land; 4 and what He did to Egypt’s army, to its horses and its chariots, ^awhen He made the water of the ¹Red Sea ²engulf them while they were pursuing you, and the LORD ³completely eliminated them; 5 and what He did to you in the wilderness, until you came to this place; 6 and ^awhat He did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben, when the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, their households, their tents, and ^bevery living thing that ¹followed them, among all Israel— 7 but your own eyes have seen all the great work of the LORD which He did.

8 “You shall therefore keep every commandment which I am commanding you today, ^aso that you may be strong and go in and take possession of the land into which you are about to cross to possess it; 9 and ^aso that you may prolong your days on the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give to them and to their ¹descendants, ^ba land flowing with milk and honey. 10 For the land, into which you are entering to possess it, is not like the land of Egypt from which you came, where you used to sow your seed and water it ¹by your foot like a vegetable garden. 11 But ^athe land into which you are about to cross to possess it, a land of hills and valleys, drinks water from the rain of heaven, 12 a land for which the LORD your God cares; ^athe eyes of the LORD your God are continually on it, from the ¹beginning even to the end of the year.

13 “And it shall come about, ^aif you listen obediently to my commandments which I am commanding you today, ^bto love the LORD your God and to serve Him ^cwith all your heart and all your soul, 14 that ^1aHe will provide rain for your land in its season, the ^2bearly and ³late rain, so that you may gather your grain, your new wine, and your oil. 15 ^1aHe will also provide grass in your field for your cattle, and ^byou will eat and be satisfied. 16 ^1aBeware that your hearts are not easily deceived, and that you do not turn away and serve other gods, and worship them. 17 Otherwise, ^athe anger of the LORD will be kindled against you, and He will ^bshut up the sky ^cso that there will be no rain, and the ground will not yield its produce; then ^dyou will quickly perish from the good land which the LORD is giving you.

18 “^aYou shall therefore take these words of mine to ¹heart and to soul; and you shall tie them as a sign on your ²hand, and they shall be as ³frontlets ⁴on your forehead. 19 ^aYou shall also teach them to your sons, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. 20 ^aAnd you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21 so that ^ayour days and the days of your sons may be increased on the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as ^1blong as the heavens are above the earth. 22 For if you are ^acareful to keep all of this commandment which I am commanding you to do, ^bto love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and ^ccling to Him, 23 then the LORD will ^1adispossess all these nations from you, and you will ^2bdispossess nations greater and mightier than you. 24 ^aEvery place on which the sole of your foot steps shall be yours; ^byour border will be from the wilderness to Lebanon, and from the river, the river Euphrates, as far as ¹the western sea. 25 ^aNo one will be able to stand against you; the LORD your God will ¹instill the dread of you and the fear of you in all the land on which you set foot, just as He has spoken to you.

26 “^aSee, I am placing before you today a blessing and a curse: 27 the ^ablessing, if you listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I am commanding you today; 28 and the ^acurse, if you do not listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside from the way which I am commanding you today, ¹by following other gods which you have not known.

29 “And it shall come about, when the LORD your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, ^athat you shall place the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal. 30 Are they not across the Jordan, west of the road toward the sunset, in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite ^aGilgal, beside ^bthe ¹oaks of Moreh? 31 For you are about to cross the Jordan to go in to take possession of the land which the LORD your God is giving you, and ^ayou shall possess it and live in it, 32 and you shall be careful to do all the statutes and the judgments which I am placing before you today.
