En el año diecisiete de Peka, hijo de Remalías, comenzó a reinar Acaz, hijo de Jotam, rey de Judá^a. 2 ^aAcaz tenía veinte años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén; pero no hizo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR su Dios como su padre David había hecho, 3 sino que anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y aun hizo pasar a su hijo por el fuego, conforme a las abominaciones de las naciones que el SEÑOR había arrojado^1a de delante de los hijos de Israel^b. 4 Y sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos^a, en las colinas y debajo de todo árbol frondoso. 5 Entonces Rezín, rey de Aram, y Peka, hijo de Remalías^a, rey de Israel, subieron a Jerusalén para hacer guerra y sitiaron a Acaz; pero no lo podían vencer^1b. 6 En aquel tiempo Rezín, rey de Aram, recuperó a Elat^a para Aram, y echó¹ a los judíos de Elat² completamente; y los arameos³ vinieron a Elat y allí han morado hasta hoy.

7 Y envió Acaz mensajeros^a a Tiglat-pileser, rey de Asiria^b, diciendo: Yo soy tu siervo y tu hijo; sube y líbrame de la mano¹ del rey de Aram y de la mano² del rey de Israel que se han levantado contra mí. 8 Y Acaz tomó la plata y el oro que se hallaba en la casa del SEÑOR y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, y envió un presente al rey de Asiria^a. 9 El rey de Asiria lo escuchó^a, y el rey de Asiria subió contra Damasco y la tomó^b, y se llevó a su pueblo al destierro en Kir^c, y dio muerte a Rezín.

10 Y el rey Acaz fue a Damasco a ver¹ a Tiglat-pileser, rey de Asiria^a, y vio el altar que estaba en Damasco; y el rey Acaz envió al sacerdote^b Urías el diseño² del altar y su réplica, conforme a toda su hechura. 11 Y el sacerdote Urías edificó un altar; conforme a todo lo que el rey Acaz había enviado de Damasco, así lo hizo el sacerdote Urías antes del¹ regreso del rey Acaz de Damasco. 12 Cuando vino el rey de Damasco y vio¹ el altar, el rey se acercó al altar y subió hasta² él^a; 13 quemó su holocausto y su ofrenda de cereal, derramó su libación y roció la sangre de sus ofrendas de paz sobre el altar; 14 y el altar de bronce^a, que estaba delante del SEÑOR, lo¹ trajo de delante de la casa, de entre su altar^b y la casa del SEÑOR, y lo puso al lado norte de su altar. 15 Entonces el rey Acaz dio órdenes al sacerdote Urías, diciendo: Quema sobre el gran altar el holocausto de la mañana y la ofrenda de cereal de la tarde^a, el holocausto del rey y su ofrenda de cereal, con el holocausto de todo el pueblo de la tierra y con su ofrenda de cereal y sus libaciones; y rocía sobre él toda la sangre del holocausto y toda la sangre del sacrificio. Pero el altar de bronce será para mí para consultar^b. 16 Y el sacerdote Urías hizo conforme a todo lo que el rey Acaz le había ordenado.

17 Entonces el rey Acaz cortó los bordes de las basas, y quitó de ellas la pila^a; también bajó el mar de sobre los bueyes^b de bronce que estaban debajo de él y lo puso sobre un enlosado de piedra. 18 Y el pórtico para el día de reposo, que habían edificado en la casa, y la entrada exterior del rey, los quitó de la casa del SEÑOR a causa del rey de Asiria. 19 Los demás hechos de Acaz, lo que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Judá^a? 20 Y durmió Acaz^a con sus padres, y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David; y su hijo Ezequías reinó en su lugar^b.

In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah, ^aAhaz the son of Jotham, king of Judah, became king. 2 ^aAhaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem; and he did not do what was right in the sight of the LORD his God, as his father David had done. 3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, ^aand he even made his son pass through the fire, ^bin accordance with the abominations of the nations whom the LORD had ¹driven out before the sons of Israel. 4 And he ^asacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree.

5 Then ^aRezin the king of Aram and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem for war; and they besieged Ahaz, ^bbut ¹were not capable of fighting him. 6 At that time Rezin king of Aram restored ^aElath to Aram, and drove the Judeans away from ¹Elath; and the ²Arameans came to Elath and have lived there to this day.

7 ^aSo Ahaz sent messengers to ^bTiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your son; come up and save me from the ¹hand of the king of Aram, and from the ²hand of the king of Israel, who are rising up against me.” 8 And ^aAhaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD and in the treasuries of the king’s house, and sent a gift to the king of Assyria. 9 ^aSo the king of Assyria listened to him; and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus and ^bcaptured it, and led the people of it into exile to ^cKir, and put Rezin to death.

10 Now King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet ^aTiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and he saw the altar which was at Damascus; and King Ahaz sent to ^bUrijah the priest the ¹pattern of the altar and its model, according to all its workmanship. 11 So Urijah the priest built an altar; according to everything that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus, in that way Urijah the priest made it, ¹before the coming of King Ahaz from Damascus. 12 And when the king came from Damascus, the king saw the altar; then ^athe king approached the altar and ¹went up to it, 13 and ¹burned his burnt offering and his meal offering, and poured out his ²drink offering and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings on the altar. 14 And ^athe bronze altar, which was before the LORD, ¹he brought from the front of the house, from between ^bhis altar and the house of the LORD, and he put it on the north side of his altar. 15 Then King Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, “Upon the great altar ¹burn ^athe morning burnt offering, the evening meal offering, the king’s burnt offering and his meal offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, their meal offering, and their ²drink offerings; and sprinkle on it all the blood of the burnt offering and all the blood of the sacrifice. But ^bthe bronze altar shall be for me, for making inquiries.” 16 So Urijah the priest acted in accordance with everything that King Ahaz commanded.

17 Then King Ahaz ^acut off the borders of the stands, and removed the wash basin from them; he also ^btook down the ¹Sea from the bronze oxen which were under it and put it on a pavement of stone. 18 And the covered way for the Sabbath which they had built in the house, and the outer entry of the king, he removed from the house of the LORD because of the king of Assyria.

19 Now as for the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written ^ain the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? 20 So ^aAhaz ¹lay down with his fathers, and ^bwas buried with his fathers in the city of David; and his son Hezekiah reigned in his place.
