Pablo, apóstol^a de Cristo Jesús^b por mandato^c de Dios nuestro Salvador^d, y de Cristo Jesús nuestra esperanza^e, 2 a Timoteo^a, verdadero hijo en la fe^b: Gracia^c, misericordia y paz de parte de Dios Padre y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor^d.

3 Como te rogué al partir para Macedonia^a que te quedaras en Efeso^b para que instruyeras a algunos que no enseñaran doctrinas extrañas^c, 4 ni prestaran atención a¹ mitos^a y genealogías^b interminables, lo que da lugar a discusiones^2c inútiles en vez de hacer avanzar^d el plan³ de Dios que es por fe, así te encargo ahora. 5 Pero el propósito¹ de nuestra instrucción^2a es el amor nacido de un corazón puro^b, de una buena conciencia^c y de una fe sincera^3d. 6 Pues algunos, desviándose de estas cosas, se han apartado hacia una vana palabrería^1a, 7 queriendo ser^a maestros de la ley^b, aunque no entienden lo que dicen ni las cosas acerca de las cuales hacen declaraciones categóricas. 8 Pero nosotros sabemos que la ley^a es buena, si uno la usa legítimamente, 9 reconociendo esto: que la ley^a no ha sido instituida para el justo, sino para los transgresores y rebeldes^b, para los impíos^c y pecadores, para los irreverentes y profanos^d, para los parricidas y matricidas, para los homicidas, 10 para los inmorales^1a, homosexuales^b, secuestradores^c, mentirosos^d, los que juran en falso^e, y para cualquier otra cosa que es contraria a la sana doctrina^f, 11 según el glorioso evangelio^a del Dios bendito^b, que me ha sido encomendado^c.

12 Doy gracias a Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor^a, que me ha fortalecido^b, porque me tuvo por fiel, poniéndome en el ministerio^c; 13 aun habiendo sido yo antes blasfemo, perseguidor^a y agresor. Sin embargo, se me mostró misericordia^b porque lo hice por ignorancia en mi incredulidad^c. 14 Pero la gracia^a de nuestro Señor fue más que abundante, con la fe^b y el amor que se hallan en Cristo Jesús. 15 Palabra fiel^a y digna de ser aceptada por todos¹: Cristo Jesús^b vino al mundo para salvar a los pecadores^c, entre los cuales yo soy el primero^d. 16 Sin embargo, por esto hallé misericordia^a, para que en mí, como el primero, Jesucristo demostrara toda su paciencia^1b como un ejemplo para los que habrían de creer en Él para vida eterna. 17 Por tanto, al Rey eterno^1a, inmortal^b, invisible^c, único Dios^d, a Él sea honor y gloria^e por los siglos de los siglos. 18 Esta comisión^1a te confío, hijo^b Timoteo, conforme a las profecías^c que antes se hicieron en cuanto a ti, a fin de que por ellas pelees la buena batalla^d, 19 guardando la fe^a y una buena conciencia, que algunos han rechazado y naufragaron en lo que toca a la fe^b. 20 Entre los cuales están Himeneo^a y Alejandro^b, a quienes he entregado a Satanás^c, para que aprendan a no blasfemar^d.

2 To ^aTimothy, ^bmy true ¹son in the faith: ^cGrace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and ^dChrist Jesus our Lord.

3 Just as I urged you ¹upon my departure for ^aMacedonia, to remain on at ^bEphesus so that you would instruct certain people not to ^cteach strange doctrines, 4 nor to ¹pay attention to ^amyths and endless ^bgenealogies, which give rise to useless ^cspeculation rather than ^dadvance ²the plan of God, which is by faith, so I urge you now. 5 But the goal of our ^1ainstruction is love ^bfrom a pure heart, from a ^cgood conscience, and from a sincere ^dfaith. 6 Some people have strayed from these things and have turned aside to ^afruitless discussion, 7 ^awanting to be ^bteachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.

8 But we know that ^athe Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9 realizing the fact that ^alaw is not made for a righteous person but for those who are lawless and ^brebellious, for the ^cungodly and sinners, for the unholy and ^dworldly, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the ^1asexually immoral, ^bhomosexuals, ^2cslave traders, ^dliars, ^eperjurers, and whatever else is contrary to ^fsound teaching, 11 according to ^athe glorious gospel of ^bthe blessed God, with which I have been ^centrusted.

12 I thank ^aChrist Jesus our Lord, who has ^bstrengthened me, because He considered me faithful, ^cputting me into service, 13 even though I was previously a blasphemer and a ^apersecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was ^bshown mercy because ^cI acted ignorantly in unbelief; 14 and the ^agrace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the ^bfaith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. 15 ^aIt is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that ^bChrist Jesus came into the world to ^csave sinners, among whom ^dI am foremost. 16 Yet for this reason I ^afound mercy, so that in me as the foremost sinner Jesus Christ might ^bdemonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those ¹who would believe in Him for eternal life. 17 Now to the ^aKing ¹eternal, ^bimmortal, ^cinvisible, the ^donly God, ^ebe honor and glory ²forever and ever. Amen.

18 This ^acommand I entrust to you, Timothy, ^bmy ¹son, in accordance with the ^cprophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you ^dfight the good fight, 19 keeping ^afaith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to ^1btheir faith. 20 ¹Among these are ^aHymenaeus and ^bAlexander, whom I have ^chanded over to Satan, so that they will be ^dtaught not to blaspheme.
