Por aquel tiempo Abías, hijo de Jeroboam, se enfermó. 2 Y Jeroboam dijo a su mujer: Levántate ahora y disfrázate^a para que no conozcan que eres la mujer de Jeroboam, y ve a Silo^b; he aquí, allí está el profeta Ahías, que dijo de mí que yo sería rey sobre este pueblo^c. 3 Toma en tus manos diez panes^a, tortas y un jarro de miel, y ve a él. Él te dirá lo que le ha de suceder al niño. 4 Así lo hizo la mujer de Jeroboam; se levantó, fue a Silo^a y llegó a casa de Ahías^b. Y Ahías no podía ver porque sus ojos se habían nublado¹ a causa de su vejez^c. 5 Mas el SEÑOR había dicho a Ahías: He aquí, la mujer de Jeroboam viene a consultarte¹ sobre su hijo, pues está enfermo. Esto y esto le dirás, pues será que cuando ella venga, fingirá ser otra mujer^a.

6 Y sucedió que cuando Ahías oyó el ruido de los pasos de ella al entrar por la puerta, dijo: Entra, mujer de Jeroboam. ¿Por qué finges ser otra mujer? Pues he sido enviado a ti con un duro mensaje. 7 Ve, di a Jeroboam: «Así dice el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel: “Por cuanto te levanté de entre el pueblo y te hice príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel^a, 8 y arranqué el reino de la casa de David y te lo di a ti^a, pero tú no has sido como mi siervo David, que guardó mis mandamientos y me siguió de todo corazón, para hacersolo lo que era recto a mis ojos^b; 9 sino que has hecho más mal que todos los que fueron antes de ti, y fuiste e hiciste para ti otros dioses^a e imágenes fundidas^b para provocarme a ira, y me arrojaste detrás de tus espaldas^c; 10 por tanto, he aquí, traigo mal sobre la casa de Jeroboam, y cortaré de Jeroboam a todo varón¹, tanto esclavo como libre en Israel^a; barreré completamente la casa de Jeroboam^b, como se barre el estiércol hasta que desaparece del todo. 11 Cualquiera de los de Jeroboam que muera en la ciudad, se lo comerán los perros. Y el que muera en el campo, se lo comerán las aves del cielo^a; porque el SEÑOR ha hablado”». 12 Y tú, levántate, vete a tu casa. Cuando tus pies entren en la ciudad, el niño morirá^a. 13 Y todo Israel hará duelo por él y lo sepultarán, puessoloeste de la familia de Jeroboam irá a la sepultura, porque de la casa de Jeroboam,solo en él fue hallado algo bueno hacia el SEÑOR, Dios^a de Israel. 14 Y el SEÑOR levantará para sí un rey sobre Israel que destruirá la casa de Jeroboam^a en este día, y de ahora en adelante¹. 15 El SEÑOR, pues, herirá a Israel, como se agita una caña en el agua, y Él arrancará a Israel^a de esta buena tierra^b que dio a sus padres^c, y los esparcirá más allá del río Eufrates, porque han hecho sus Aseras¹, provocando a ira al SEÑOR^d. 16 Y abandonará a Israel a causa de los pecados que cometió¹ Jeroboam y con los cuales hizo pecar a Israel^a.

17 Entonces la mujer de Jeroboam se levantó, se fue y llegó a Tirsa^a. Y al entrar ella por el umbral de la casa, el niño murió^b. 18 Y todo Israel lo sepultó e hizo duelo por él^a, conforme a la palabra que el SEÑOR había hablado por medio¹ de su siervo, el profeta Ahías.

19 Los demás hechos de Jeroboam^a, cómo guerreó y cómo reinó, he aquí, están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Israel. 20 El tiempo¹ que Jeroboam reinó fue veintidós años, y durmió con sus padres; y su hijo Nadab reinó en su lugar.

21 ^aY Roboam, hijo de Salomón, reinó en Judá. Roboam tenía cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó diecisiete años en Jerusalén, la ciudad que el SEÑOR había escogido de entre todas las tribus de Israel para poner allí su nombre. El nombre de su madre era Naama, amonita^b. 22 Judá hizo lo malo^a ante los ojos del SEÑOR, y le provocaron a celos^b más que todo lo que sus padres le habían provocado con los¹ pecados que habían hecho². 23 Porque ellos también edificaron para sí lugares altos^a, pilares^b sagrados y Aseras^c en toda colina alta y bajo todo árbol frondoso^d. 24 Hubo también en la tierra sodomitas de cultos paganos^a. Hicieron conforme a todas las abominaciones de las naciones que el SEÑOR había echado delante de los hijos de Israel.

25 Y sucedió que en el quinto año del rey Roboam, Sisac, rey de Egipto, subió contra Jerusalén^a. 26 Y tomó los tesoros de la casa del SEÑOR y los tesoros del palacio del rey; se apoderó de todo, llevándose aun¹ todos los escudos de oro que había hecho Salomón^a. 27 Entonces el rey Roboam hizo escudos de bronce en su lugar, y los entregó al cuidado¹ de los jefes de la guardia^2a que custodiaban la entrada de la casa del rey. 28 Y sucedía que cuando el rey entraba en la casa del SEÑOR, los de la guardia los llevaban; después los devolvían a la sala de los de la guardia.

29 Los demás hechos de Roboam y todo lo que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas^a de los reyes de Judá? 30 Y hubo guerra continua entre Roboam y Jeroboam^a. 31 Y durmió Roboam con sus padres y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David; y el nombre de su madre era Naama, amonita^a. Y su hijo Abiam¹ reinó en su lugar.

At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick. 2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, “Now arise and ^adisguise yourself so that they will not know that you are the wife of Jeroboam, and go to ^bShiloh. Behold, Ahijah the prophet is there, who ^csaid regarding me that I would be king over this people. 3 ^aTake ten loaves with you, some pastries, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will happen to the boy.”

4 And Jeroboam’s wife did so, and set out and went to ^aShiloh, and came to the house of ^bAhijah. Now Ahijah could not see ^cbecause his eyes were ¹glossy from his old age. 5 Now the LORD had said to Ahijah, “Behold, the wife of Jeroboam is coming to ¹inquire of you about her son, because he is sick. You shall say such and such to her, for it will be when she arrives, that ^ashe is going to make herself unrecognizable.”

6 So when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet coming in the doorway, he said, “Come in, wife of Jeroboam; why do you make yourself unrecognizable? Nevertheless, I am sent to you with a harsh message. 7 Go, say to Jeroboam, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of Israel says: “^aBecause I exalted you from among the people and made you leader over My people Israel, 8 and ^atore the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it to you—^byet you have not been like My servant David, who kept My commandments and followed Me with all his heart, ^cto do only that which was right in My sight; 9 you also have done more evil than all who were before you, and ^ayou have gone and made for yourself other gods and ^bcast metal images to provoke Me to anger, and have ^cthrown Me behind your back— 10 therefore behold, I am bringing disaster on the house of Jeroboam, and ^aI will eliminate from Jeroboam ¹every male person, ^bboth ²bond and free in Israel, and I ^cwill make a clean sweep of the house of Jeroboam, just as one sweeps away dung until it is all gone. 11 ^aAnyone belonging to Jeroboam who dies in the city, the dogs will eat. And anyone who dies in the field, the birds of the sky will eat; for the LORD has spoken it.”’ 12 Now you, arise, go to your house. ^aWhen your feet enter the city the child will die. 13 Then all Israel will mourn for him and bury him, for ¹he alone of Jeroboam’s family will come to the grave, because in him ^asomething good was found toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam. 14 Moreover, ^athe LORD will raise up for Himself a king over Israel who will eliminate the house of Jeroboam this day ¹and from now on.

15 “For the LORD will strike Israel, just as a reed sways in the water; and ^aHe will uproot Israel from ^bthis good land which He gave to their fathers, and ^cwill scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, ^dbecause they have made their ¹Asherim, provoking the LORD to anger. 16 He will give up Israel ^abecause of the sins of Jeroboam, which he ¹committed and with which he misled Israel into sin.”

17 Then Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed, and came to ^aTirzah. ^bAs she was entering the threshold of the house, the child died. 18 ^aThen all Israel buried him and mourned for him, in accordance with the word of the LORD which He had spoken through His servant Ahijah the prophet.

19 Now as for the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, ^ahow he made war and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel. 20 And the time that Jeroboam reigned was twenty-two years; and he ¹lay down with his fathers, and his son Nadab reigned in his place.

21 ^aNow Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned for seventeen years in Jerusalem, ^bthe city which the LORD had chosen from all the tribes of Israel to put His name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess. 22 And the people of ^aJudah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they ^bprovoked Him to jealousy with their sins which they ¹committed, more than all that their fathers had done. 23 For they, too, built for themselves ^ahigh places, ^bmemorial stones, and ^1cAsherim on every high hill and ^dunder every luxuriant tree. 24 There were also ^amale cult prostitutes in the land. They committed ¹all the same abominations of the nations which the LORD dispossessed before the sons of Israel.

25 ^aNow it happened in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, that Shishak the king of Egypt marched against Jerusalem. 26 And he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king’s house, and ^ahe took everything; ^bhe even took all the shields of gold which Solomon had made. 27 So King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and ^aentrusted them to the ¹care of the commanders of the ²guard who guarded the doorway of the king’s house. 28 And it happened as often as the king entered the house of the LORD, that the ¹guards would carry them and would bring them back into the ²guards’ room.

29 ^aNow as for the rest of the acts of Rehoboam and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? 30 ^aAnd there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually. 31 And Rehoboam ¹lay down with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and ^ahis mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess. And his son Abijam became king in his place.
