Entonces David consultó con los capitanes de millares y de centenas, es decir, con todos los jefes. 2 Y David dijo a toda la asamblea de Israel: Si os parece bien, y si es del SEÑOR nuestro Dios, enviemos mensaje a todas partes, a nuestros parientes¹ que permanecen en toda la tierra de Israel, y también a los sacerdotes y a los levitas que están con ellos en sus ciudades y tierras de pastos, para que se reúnan con nosotros; 3 y traigamos a nuestro lado el arca de nuestro Dios, porque no la consultamos¹ en los días de Saúl^a. 4 Toda la asamblea dijo que así lo harían, porque esto pareció bien a todo el pueblo. 5 ^aEntonces David congregó a todo Israel^b, desde Sihor de Egipto hasta la entrada de Hamat, para traer el arca de Dios de Quiriat-jearim^c. 6 Y subió David con todo Israel^a a Baala, es decir, a Quiriat-jearim^b, que pertenece a Judá, para hacer subir desde allí el arca de Dios el SEÑOR, que está¹ sobre los querubines, donde se invoca su nombre^c. 7 Y llevaron¹ el arca de Dios de la casa de Abinadab^a en un carro nuevo, y Uza y Ahío guiaban el carro. 8 David y todo Israel se regocijaban delante de Dios con todas sus fuerzas, con cánticos y liras, con arpas, panderos, con címbalos y trompetas^a.

9 Pero cuando llegaron a la era de Quidón, Uza extendió su mano para sostener el arca, porque los bueyes casi la volcaron^a. 10 Y se encendió la ira del SEÑOR contra Uza, y lo hirió porque había extendido su mano al arca^a; y allí murió delante de Dios^b. 11 Entonces David se enojó porque el SEÑOR había estallado en ira¹ contra Uza; y llamó aquel lugar Pérez-uza² hasta el día de hoy. 12 David tuvo temor a Dios aquel día, y dijo: ¿Cómo puedo traer a mí el arca de Dios? 13 Así que David no llevó consigo el arca a la ciudad de David, sino que la hizo llevar¹ a la casa de Obed-edom^a geteo. 14 Así que el arca de Dios estuvo con la familia de Obed-edom, en su casa, tres meses; y bendijo el SEÑOR a la familia de Obed-edom^a y todo lo que tenía.

Then David consulted with the captains of the thousands and the hundreds, with every leader. 2 David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if it is from the LORD our God, ¹let us send word everywhere to our kinsmen who remain in all the land of Israel, and to the priests and Levites who are with them in their cities with pasture lands, that they meet with us; 3 and ¹let us bring back the ark of our God to us, ^asince we did not seek it in the days of Saul.” 4 Then all the assembly said that they would do so, for ¹this was right in the eyes of all the people.

5 ^aSo David assembled all Israel together, from the Shihor of Egypt to the entrance of Hamath, ^bto bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim. 6 ^aDavid and all Israel went up to ^bBaalah, that is, to Kiriath-jearim, which belongs to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, the LORD ^cwho is enthroned above the cherubim, where His name is called. 7 And they ¹carried the ark of God on a new cart from ^athe house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart. 8 David and all Israel were celebrating before God with all their might, ^awith songs and with lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.

9 When they came to ^athe threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, because the oxen nearly overturned it. 10 But the anger of the LORD burned against Uzza, so He struck him ^abecause he had put out his hand toward the ark; ^band he died there before God. 11 Then David became angry because ¹of the LORD’S outburst against Uzza; and he called that place ²Perez-uzza as it is to this day. 12 David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How can I bring the ark of God home to me?” 13 So David did not take the ark with him to the city of David, but took it aside ^ato the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. 14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months; and ^athe LORD blessed the family of Obed-edom and all that he had.
