Ensueño de la esposa

En mi lecho, por las noches, he buscadoal que ama mi alma^a;lo busqué, mas no lo hallé^b.2 «Me levantaré ahora, y andaré por la ciudad;por las calles y por las plazas^abuscaré¹ al que ama mi alma».Lo busqué, mas no lo hallé.3 Me hallaron los guardas que rondan la ciudad^a,y les dije: «¿Habéis visto al que ama mi alma?».4 Apenas los había pasadocuando hallé al que ama mi alma^a;lo agarré y no quise soltarlo^b,hasta que lo introduje en la casa de mi madre^cy en la alcoba de la que me concibió.

5 Yo os conjuro, oh hijas de Jerusalén,por las gacelas o por las ciervas del campo,que no levantéis ni despertéis a mi amor,hasta que quiera^a.

EL CORO:

6 ¿Qué es eso¹ que sube del desierto^acomo columnas de humo^b,con perfume de mirra e incienso,con todos los polvos aromáticos^c del mercader^d?7 He aquí, es la litera de Salomón;sesenta valientes la rodean,de los valientes de Israel.8 Todos ellos manejan la espada,son diestros en la guerra^a,cada uno tiene la espada a su lado^b,contra los peligros de la noche¹^c.9 El rey Salomón se ha hecho un palanquínde madera del Líbano.10 Hizo sus columnas de plata,su respaldo¹ de oroy su asiento de púrpura,su interior tapizado con amorpor las hijas de Jerusalén^a.11 Salid, hijas de Sión^a,y contemplad al rey Salomón con la corona¹con la cual su madre lo coronóel día de sus bodas,el día de la alegría de su corazón^b.

“On my bed night after night I sought him^aWhom my soul loves;I ^bsought him but did not find him.2 ‘¹I must arise now and ²go around in the city;In the ^astreets and in the public squares³I must seek him whom my soul loves.’I sought him but did not find him.3 “^aThe watchmen who make the rounds in the city found me,And I said, ‘Have you seen him whom my soul loves?’4 “^aHardly had I ¹left themWhen I found him whom my soul loves;I ^bheld on to him and would not let him goUntil I had ^cbrought him to my mother’s house,And into the room of her who conceived me.”

7 “Behold, it is ¹the traveling couch of Solomon;Sixty warriors around it,Of the warriors of Israel.8 “All of them are wielders of the sword,^aExpert in war;Each man has his ^bsword at his side,Guarding against the ¹^cterrors of the night.9 “King Solomon has made for himself a ¹sedan chairFrom the timber of Lebanon.10 “He made its posts of silver,Its ¹back of goldAnd its seat of purple fabric,With its interior lovingly inlaidBy the ^adaughters of Jerusalem.11 “Go out, you ^adaughters of Zion,And look at King Solomon with the ¹crownWith which his mother has crowned himOn the ^bday of his wedding,And on the day of the joy of his heart.”
